Chapter 9: I Took Off My Brother's Green Hat

Chapter 9: I Took Off My Brother's Green Hat

"You two have such a good relationship, why are you giving each other the silent treatment?" The other person started to comfort him: "But we men should be more considerate of our wives, after all, they gave birth to our children, right?"

Ji Huaijin found it all ironic.

The other person continued typing: "You and Feng Wanyi went from school uniforms to wedding dresses; don't let small issues affect your relationship."

We, your old classmates, are really envious of the friendship between you two.

Ji Huaijin sneered: "I'm going to rest now. I'll come if I have time; if not, I'll have someone bring the gift over."

You're being too polite.

A cold glint flashed in Ji Huaijin's eyes.

Do you really think he's a fool?

The next day, Ji Huaijin went out alone, ordering food and drinks for the children before he left.

When they arrived at the coffee shop, Feng Wanyi was there first.

The other person was wearing a fitted apricot-colored long-sleeved top and a black midi skirt, looking both intellectual and gentle.

"Did you ask me to come out or do you want a divorce?" Feng Wanyi's lips were pale, and she looked somewhat haggard lately.

If Ji Huaijin hadn't seen the photos yesterday, he would have thought she really knew she was wrong.

Ji Huaijin pushed aside the food Feng Wanyi had ordered and asked the waiter to order a new Americano.

Seeing his actions, Feng Wanyi's fingers tightened, and her eyes reddened: "Does it have to be this way?"

"Is divorce absolutely necessary?"

"Wanyi, don't make things too ugly. It's better for you to get a divorce now." Ji Huaijin's voice was indifferent: "I'm only trying to give you a dignified experience because we've been together for so many years."

"Decent?"

Feng Wanyi's tears fell instantly: "If I get divorced, I will lose all my dignity."

Seeing his heart of stone, Feng Wanyi took a deep breath, turned to the side and took out a form from her bag: "Huai Jin, I know I was wrong, but I hope you can give me a chance."

"Give our baby a chance."

This was her last resort. She knew the child had come at the wrong time, but she had been out of touch with society for so long, what good would divorce do?

As long as he can forgive her for the sake of the child, that's fine.

Ji Huaijin looked down at the ultrasound report.

Those who are already fathers can certainly understand what this means.

She raised her eyes and said sneer, "You really think I'm a fool? Even if it were mine, do you think I'd want it?"

Feng Wanyi reached out and wiped away her tears: "This is our child. You can trust me. I can do a paternity test. Huaijin, you have to believe me."

"Besides this mistake, do you think I have any other shortcomings?"

"Forgive me this time," Feng Wanyi pleaded.

"Huai Jin, please forgive me this time for the sake of Shu Shu and the baby, okay?"

Feng Wanyi looked at him pleadingly.

He used to hate this look in his eyes the most, all these years ago.

Feng Wanyi knew what he loved most about her.

She wasn't sure Ji Huaijin would forgive her, but she still wanted to give it her all.

"How long have you been with He Gaolin?"

Ji Huaijin closed his eyes and ripped off this fig leaf.

She still thinks she's a fool.

Feng Wanyi suddenly choked, feeling a sudden dizziness that left her flustered and helpless: "Huai Jin..."

"Why are you still taking Shushu with you? She's so young. Have you thought about what kind of impact this will have on her when she grows up?" Ji Huaijin asked her.

His calm and composed demeanor was unsettling.

"Feng Wanyi, I feel like I've never known you before."

Seeing the man's disappointed eyes, Feng Wanyi finally came to her senses: "Huai Jin... I didn't. It was when I ran into He Gaolin that I greeted him with Shushu."

“I know you don’t believe me, but you can confront him.”

Feng Wanyi was still lying, and her resolute manner made it seem like a genuine misunderstanding.

"Didn't you say there was only one?" Ji Huaijin didn't answer her question, but continued talking to himself:

"I only know of three so far, one of whom is an online friend."

"What else hasn't been discovered?"

Feng Wanyi's chest heaved as she placed her hand on her bag, intending to leave.

"Feng Wanyi, do you still think I'm a fool? I'm giving you face and you don't want it. Do you want me to point my finger at your face and call you a shameless slut?"

Ji Huaijin said in a deep voice, his eyes devoid of any emotion: "What are the chances that this child is mine? How can you be sure it's mine because you took precautions?"

"Should I praise you for being a woman with strong 'principles'?"

Feng Wanyi's breathing trembled. In fact, from the very beginning, she knew this day would come.

Her gentleness was an act, and her virtuousness was also an act.

She was a promiscuous woman at heart. After graduation, the two were in a long-distance relationship for a while, during which time she enjoyed the shortcut that came from selling her bottom line.

She knew that Ji Huaijin was responsible and dependable. Although his family's financial situation wasn't particularly good, he was an outstanding person.

So she chose to marry him, and she always carefully hid those shady things from the public eye.

She settled down after marriage.

She didn't want to ruin such a wonderful family.

But after giving birth and becoming a full-time mother, her mind wandered. Her child was obedient, and although her husband was considerate, he was quite busy with his career. She started chatting with people on apps on her phone.

The scale became increasingly larger afterward.

After that, she couldn't stop.

She had nothing to say and simply remained silent.

"Are you willing to get a divorce now?" Ji Huaijin looked at her coldly.

Feng Wanyi looked up: "What about the child in her belly?"

Ji Huaijin remained silent, simply looking at her.

That gaze made Feng Wanyi's breath catch in her throat: "I'll leave."

“I’ll take Monday off, and we’ll go together to handle the formalities then. As for the division of property and Shushu’s custody…” Ji Huaijin looked at her, and to be honest, he didn’t want to give her a single penny.

Shushu didn't want to give it to her either.

Feng Wanyi understood, and disappointment showed in her eyes: "Do you have to be so cruel?"

Ji Huaijin tilted his head: "I have a medical check-up scheduled for this afternoon, I'll be going now."

"Think about it carefully yourself."

Feng Wanyi sat alone in her seat, watching his back.

Wipe away your tears, take out your phone, and make a call.
