Chapter 13 Life Swap 13
The market was incredibly lively at this time. There were vendors selling pancakes, wontons, and rice noodles, as well as clothes. Inside, pig butchers and vegetable vendors were all shouting their wares. Everyone was carrying baskets on their backs, and it was packed with people.
To prevent the children from being pushed off, some people put them in baskets on their backs.
Ji Yaoguang, while selling rabbits with Ji Huaizhi, forgot about his two older sisters.
Ji Huaizhi was selling or giving away the cucumbers, cowpeas, and green beans growing by the roadside at half price; he didn't want to take them back anymore.
Many children saw the rabbits and begged to buy them, and the adults, thinking they could fatten them up and eat them, bought two on a whim.
With so many people, these things sold out quickly. When only a few rabbits were left, Ji Huaizhi lowered the price and sold them. Then he turned around and took Ji Yaoguang to buy four fried dough cakes.
"You helped me today, so I'll treat you and your sister to fried dough sticks."
Ji Yaoguang was already hungry, but there were too many people and he didn't have time to buy anything to eat.
He took the two fried dough cakes to his two older sisters, who still had some unsold goods to sell and needed to continue selling for a while.
"There are too many people. You should go back with Huaizhi. We'll sell a little more."
Ji Yaoguang had no intention of staying in the first place. After turning around and finding Ji Huai, he saw that Ji Huai had bought some things and they went back together.
When he returned, he met Ji Xiong sitting at the door. He was quite pleased to see that his two grandsons got along so well.
Ji Huaizhi is a bit disrespectful to elders, but he also knows that Ji Huaizhi is much smarter than Ji Yaoguang.
The eldest brother and his family will still have children.
"Yaoguang, Huaizhi, come here."
Ji Huaizhi strolled over slowly, while Ji Yaoguang ran: "Grandpa."
"How are the rabbits selling?" Ji Xiong asked.
"Ji Huaizhi's are sold out, but my sisters haven't had any yet. However, one of the two roosters was sold," Ji Yaoguang replied.
"Sure, you've sold them all? Make sure you put the money back safe and don't lose it," Ji Xiong said to Ji Huaizhi.
Ji Huaizhi nodded.
However, Ji Yaoguang spoke up: "The money from Ji Huaizhi selling rabbits and vegetables belongs to him, Grandpa. If I go to sell them in the future, can I have all the money?"
Ji Xiong asked in surprise, "You sold it and got the money, aren't you going to give it to your parents?"
Ji Huaizhi glanced at Ji Yaoguang, meeting his bewildered gaze, and felt speechless.
"No, it's my secret stash of money."
"How can that be? It's not safe for a child to have so much money on him. Give me the money, and I'll give it to your parents." Ji Xiong tried to take the money from his pocket.
However, Ji Huaizhi avoided it.
"No need, you can give it to my parents, and they will give me the money back."
Ji Huaizhi chuckled, which annoyed Ji Xiong.
“I’ve never seen parents spoil their child like this. They’re ruining you,” Ji Xiong said, pointing at him.
Ji Yaoguang still didn't understand: "What? Grandpa, do you want Ji Huaizhi's money?"
"You brat! You've been getting more and more disobedient lately. Do you miss your grandpa that much?" Ji Xiong slapped his bottom.
Ji Yaoguang chuckled: "Hehehe~ I'm not in pain."
Ji Huaizhi found Yaoguang's reaction amusing: "Sir, my parents wouldn't harm me, because they know I won't squander this money."
Looking at Ji Huaizhi, Ji Xiong thought to himself that his idea was truly brilliant.
Back then, who had that much money on them? Five cents or a dollar would be considered good.
"Huaizhi, you must learn to be filial to your parents," Ji Xiong said earnestly.
I'm wondering if Ji Huaizhi's personality means that the strong couple will be able to rely on him in the future.
"Of course I'll be filial to my parents." Ji Huaizhi smiled meaningfully. "Otherwise, why would I be filial to someone else's parents?"
"What if your parents were Gang Qiang and Feng Li? Would you be filial to them?" Ji Xiong asked tentatively.
Ji Huaizhi: "If this is not true, they will not be my parents, and I will not be filial to them."
“If my parents were my second uncle and aunt, I would definitely be filial to them,” Ji Yaoguang interjected, raising his hand. “And they would definitely treat me and Ji Huaizhi just as well. I like my second uncle and aunt.”
"If you had to choose your parents, who would you choose?" Ji Xiong asked Ji Yaoguang.
Seeing Gang Qiang's hesitant expression, Ji Xiong felt a pang of sympathy for him.
Neither of the children is happy with them.
“You’re doing it wrong.” Ji Xiong wanted to teach them a lesson: “Children must be filial to their parents, even if their parents didn’t raise them.”
"Because from the moment you came into this world, you owe your parents something."
"Of all virtues, filial piety is the most important. If you are not filial, you will be struck by lightning!"
Ji Xiong said the last sentence while looking at Ji Huaizhi.
But judging from his expression, he didn't react at all.
"Huaizhi, did you understand?"
"I don't quite understand, but don't worry, Grandpa, I will definitely be filial to my parents and my grandma. I will buy them a big house, a car, and new clothes in the future!"
“I will also take them to see the outside world, so your worries about me being unfilial are unnecessary.”
Ji Xiong: "..."
"What about me? What about your uncle and his wife...?"
"I'll be filial to whoever treats me well in the future," Ji Huaizhi said with a smile.
Ji Xiong always felt that there was something in his words, and he was almost being led astray by him.
"Ji Gang is your uncle, and also your second father..." Ji Xiong still tried to brainwash him.
"Grandpa, are you getting senile? I only have one father."
"Ji Xiong, you son of a bitch, what nonsense are you spouting now?" Tang Guixiang heard him talking nonsense when she returned, and she couldn't help but scold him in anger:
"Who are you calling my grandson's second father? Are you crazy?"
"How could you say such a thing? Aren't you trying to harm Sun Qiao? You're insane!"
Ji Xiong was furious: "Tang Guixiang, how can you scold me like that in front of the child? Don't you have any respect for me as your grandfather?"
Where did I say something wrong?
"Their fathers are brothers, what's wrong with what I said?"
Ji Huaizhi pulled Ji Yaoguang to stand aside and watch his grandmother perform.
"What you said is completely wrong! Why didn't you say that Ji Gangqiang and Ji Gangzheng are your younger brother's sons? Are you crazy?" Tang Guixiang frowned and cursed.
"I think you're an eagle burping!" (Does anyone know the next line? Hehe~)
"Ji Huaizhi, why are Grandpa and Grandma arguing?" Ji Yaoguang asked, confused.
“Grandpa is getting old and senile; sometimes what he says is problematic. You need to discern the truth, you understand?” Ji Huaizhi stroked his chin and said, “That’s why I told you to do the opposite of what they do. Look how much Grandma scolds him; it’s because sometimes what he says and does is seriously problematic.”
"Oh, I understand." Ji Yaoguang nodded.
Ji Huaizhi was the smartest.
Back home, Tang Guixiang couldn't help but scold people: "You should go to your grandfather's place less often in the future, and you should tell Yaoguang... never mind, he's not your own child."
"Okay, Grandma, don't be angry."
"I brought you some fried dough sticks. You can steam them for lunch."
Tang Guixiang took a sip of cold water: "You're so old, yet you're not as sensible as me."
Ji Gangqiang and Feng Li, who were working far to the south, came here with the idea of making a lot of money.
But to their surprise, the place was completely different from what they had imagined.
The small single room was right next to a public toilet; it wasn't nearly as nice as my home in the countryside.
The factory workers came from all over the country, and their living habits varied greatly. Ji Gangqiang was so tired that he came back in the middle of the night and lay on his wooden bed thinking.
Was coming here to work the right decision?
