Chapter 15 Life Swap 15
"Yes, besides seeing the kids, we're also planning to build two more floors on top of the house this time!" Feng Li boasted, ignoring Ji Gangqiang's meaningful glances.
When she came back this time and saw that every household had built a new house, she felt very envious.
Who wouldn't want to live in a new house?
"Oh my, you must have made a lot of money outside. If you're making money there, take our child with you too."
"Auntie, let's go back first, we'll talk again when we have time."
After the two left, Ji Gangqiang frowned: "Why did you say we also wanted to build a house? How much money do you think we'd have left after building the house?"
“Look at them, they’ve built houses, don’t you want to build one? We’ve been out here for so long, we should build our own houses eventually.” Feng Li didn’t see anything wrong with it.
Although they don't earn much money, they still have enough to build a house.
Feng Li nudged Ji Gangqiang, who was silent, and said, "Look, your brother's family has always stayed at home. They haven't even built a house, so they're probably just getting by. I bet they're not even as well off as us."
Hearing this, Ji Gangqiang felt somewhat comforted: "What kind of money can they earn at home?"
“Exactly, so when we build houses here, doesn’t it look like… you get it?” Feng Li gave a wink.
Ji Gangqiang seemed to understand what that meant.
He nodded: "We've only just gotten back, let's talk about it later."
As the two approached, they discovered that Tang Guixiang's bungalow had been renovated, replaced by a two-story house with a small courtyard. The courtyard was filled with flowers and plants, as well as an osmanthus tree.
It looks very artistic.
The couple looked around at the door and felt somewhat uncomfortable.
"It seems like nobody's here."
"Mom and Dad?" Ji Jiao came out to get water and was surprised to see the two of them at her grandmother's door.
"Jiao! We're back."
Ji Xiong was very excited to hear that his eldest son had returned, and he had a smile on his face when he came back from outside.
"Gangqiang, was the journey smooth?" Ji Xiong asked.
“Smooth sailing, we just got home. How have you been all these years?” Ji Gangqiang asked, noticing his father’s white hair and aged face.
This is the first time I've felt that my father is getting old.
"Same as always, I've taken good care of your kids." Ji Xiong said with a smile, taking credit for his efforts.
Ji Jiao lowered her eyes upon hearing this.
“Especially Yaoguang, you don’t know, he’s always second in school. He’s good at academics and sensible. People always praise me for taking good care of you two kids.”
The couple smiled broadly upon hearing this.
"The teachers at their school said that Yaoguang is definitely a candidate for a top university!"
"Really?" Ji Gangqiang was touched. "Dad! Thank you."
"If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be able to work outside with peace of mind."
Feng Li was also very happy, she never expected her son to be so successful.
"So how much money have you made out there?" Ji Xiong's question made their smiles turn to a dull ache: "You haven't been back for so many years, you must have made quite a bit of money."
"I think you should renovate this old house first, and build a three-story building, which I think would be suitable."
Ji Xiong stood with his hands behind his back, bent over, and grinned broadly.
"Then buy me a tricycle so I can go to the street to sell vegetables."
"Oh right, and what about cell phones? Everyone's using flip phones these days, they're so convenient, get me one too."
"Which dad... wait a minute." Ji Gangqiang was a little overwhelmed: "Let's take it one step at a time. Feng Li and I won't go out for the time being."
"We've been traveling for so long and we're tired. Let's pack our things first and talk about it when we have dinner tonight."
Feng Li also said, "Yes, look at all these big and small bags we have. We'll talk about it later."
Ji Xiong saw that it wasn't appropriate either: "Alright, alright, you guys rest well. I'll have Jiaowa cook, I'll call you in a bit."
Seeing so many things on the ground, Ji Xiong smiled. His son and daughter-in-law had returned, and he felt relieved. With so many things, there must be some local specialties they had brought back for him.
He walked outside with his hands behind his back, looking quite cheerful.
Ji Jiao looked at her parents with mixed feelings. She never expected that when they went to work and came back, she would have grown into a young woman.
"Mom and Dad, you didn't ask about Qianqian and me when you came back."
Feng Li looked at her beautiful daughter awkwardly: "I just haven't had time yet."
"I heard Qianqian got into a pretty good school. Is she working now?" Feng Li asked, holding her hand. "How much does her boss pay her?"
Ji Jiao coldly withdrew her hand: "I'm not too sure. You probably don't have much money right after graduation."
Feng Li said disappointedly, "Then all this reading was for nothing?"
"So how much do you make a month as a tailor?"
Ji Jiao felt a chill in her heart: "Don't you even ask how my brother and I have been doing all these years?"
Ji Gangqiang frowned: "Didn't your grandfather take good care of you?"
Ji Jiao suddenly sneered, tears welling up in her eyes as she felt a pang of bitterness: "You guys really are..."
"What kind of attitude is this? We just got back and you're already looking for trouble?" Ji Gangqiang said curtly.
They even treated the child like a little kid and scolded him harshly.
Feng Li patted him on the shoulder, then turned to her eldest daughter and said, "Mom and Dad have to go out and earn money. Jiaojiao, you're the eldest, so you have to be sensible."
(This chapter is a bit short, I'll make up for it tomorrow. Goodnight.)
"Am I not sensible enough?" Ji Jiao swallowed her grievances and took their things to the room.
Ji Gangqiang frowned and remained silent, then gave Feng Li a wink.
Upon seeing this, Feng Li asked Ji Jiao, "Where's your brother? Is he better from the flu?"
Ji Jiao: "Alright, if something really happens, by the time you get back, it'll be too late."
"What are you saying? We're out there making money for you, and you think we've made a mistake?" Ji Gangqiang stood up. "Ji Jiao, how come you've become so insensible?"
Ji Jiao paused for a moment.
Feng Li: "It's not easy for us outside either. We know you work hard at home and your grandfather doesn't really take care of things!"
"Um... your brother is better, where is he? Is he attending tutoring classes at school?"
Ji Jiao: "They'll be back soon, right?"
After putting their things away, she went out. Standing at the door, she took a deep breath and looked at the sky. She thought she had stopped crying long ago, but seeing how indifferent her parents were to her and Ji Qian, she still felt very sad.
"Sister!" Ji Yaoguang returned with pig feed on his back and some farm tools in his hands: "What happened to you?"
Even though he was carrying heavy things on his back, you could still tell that Ji Yaoguang was very tall and lean.
He was wearing a worn-out, yellowed vest, which he wore specifically for work. He also had an earring in his left ear, giving him a rebellious and roguish look.
This is a completely different person from the chubby boy in his previous life.
"Nothing, wasn't Ji Huaizhi tutoring you? Why did you go up the hill?" Ji Jiao helped him unload his things.
The couple inside the house heard the noise and looked out the window. Their son had grown so tall.
“They came back after their tutoring session. You weren’t here when I came back to get my basket.” Ji Yaoguang heard noises coming from the previously empty room and remembered that they must have returned.
"They're back?" he asked, his eyes questioning, understanding why his older sister was sad.
"You're back. They've been missing you. Go see them."
Ji Yaoguang is much more mature than before, and said calmly, "If you're thinking about us, why haven't you come back for so long? You say you're thinking about us, but you don't actually care about us three siblings at all."
He stuffed the pig feed into the basket tightly with all his might.
Ji Jiao couldn't pull it out, so Ji Yaoguang took over and did it himself, his arms bulging with veins as he strained.
The basket was stuffed with a lot of rabbits. Half of it was placed at the entrance of the rabbit pen, and the other half was thrown directly into the pen.
