Chapter 16 Life Swap 16
The rabbits inside were startled and ran around in all directions. When they saw the tender green grass, they quickly ran over and began to eat it with gusto.
The couple inside came out.
She looked at her tall son with satisfaction; he had grown so big.
"Yaoguang! Son!"
Feng Li's sharp voice was somewhat agitated. She tried to hug her son, but he dodged away, his expression revealing no joy: "Son, I'm your mother!"
Ji Gangqiang knew that children at this age are awkward and embarrassed.
"The child is so big now, they'll definitely feel embarrassed."
He patted his son on the shoulder, pleased to see that his son was already a head taller than him: "Good lad! So strong!"
Ji Yaoguang was speechless for a moment, not knowing what to say.
Feng Li, being a woman, could sense that his emotions weren't happy; in fact, they seemed rather cold.
"Son, why don't you call me Mom and Dad?"
Ji Yaoguang sighed: "I'm feeding the rabbits now, I'll talk to you later."
The two then realized that the rabbit enclosure next to them was quite large: "Why are you making this? It smells awful."
“Jiaojiao, why don’t you come and help your brother? Why are you making him do it all by himself?” Feng Li said.
Ji Gangqiang fanned his nose with his hand, his expression twisted with disgust: "Why are you raising rabbits at home? These things stink to death, and the more you eat them, the thinner you get."
Ji Yaoguang glanced coldly at Ji Gangqiang: "You say you're making money outside, but you don't even mention sending money back. The three of us siblings depend entirely on these rabbits for our livelihood."
Since the rabbits could eat it, Ji Yaoguang threw in two more handfuls of pig feed.
He clapped his hands and went to the tap next to him to wash his hands.
Looking at her younger brother, Ji Jiao felt that he was becoming more and more like Ji Huaizhi.
That temper of hers.
However, the couple couldn't stand the difference. Ji Gangqiang was a little unhappy to see him like this. Weren't they all earning money outside for him?
Is he blaming them?
Feng Li stepped forward softly, her voice slightly choked with emotion: "Are you blaming your parents?"
“We’ve worked so hard out there for you, and seeing you like this makes Mom so sad. Besides, haven’t we sent you 500 yuan back every year?”
"That's enough for your tuition!" Feng Li said sadly, as if she thought he was too greedy.
Ji Yaoguang was somewhat annoyed, and his tone became a little harsh: "For me?"
"No, what advantage did I gain? I really... Don't try to morally blackmail me. Why don't you send me living expenses back home for my sake?"
"You guys are so funny. I didn't get anything, but you've put such a heavy burden of filial piety on my shoulders?"
"And another five hundred yuan? You have the nerve to say that?" Ji Yaoguang shook his head, truly exasperated, and proceeded to list the amount for them:
"Don't my sister and I need to eat, drink, and have a place to live? Sometimes I really don't understand you. What are you doing this for me? I haven't used any of your money, so why are you doing this for me?"
Feng Li was speechless. So what if they don't send money back? They've all grown up, haven't they?
They even got into a top-tier high school? And the second child got into university?
She graduated even though she didn't send money back, which proves that she didn't need to send money back.
Ji Gangqiang: "We didn't send money back, but you've all grown up, haven't you? Your grandfather didn't let you go hungry!"
"What's wrong with five hundred yuan? Five hundred yuan used to be our living expenses for several years."
Ji Yaoguang's expression was icy: "We're only able to grow up because we're lucky and have the help of Ji Huaizhi and his family. Why didn't you send tuition for my second sister when she was in high school? It's a good thing she got into university, why didn't you let her go to school?"
"And then there's my eldest sister. She wanted to buy a sewing machine to open a tailor shop. Why didn't she answer your calls? Why did she insist that we borrow from my second uncle's family? In the end, the money was paid off with the money from selling rabbits."
"After all these years, you send us back 500 yuan and we're expected to be grateful? Are you alright?"
“Every time you call back, you say it’s hard to make money outside, that you can’t make any money. No… if you can’t make money outside, then why do you go out?” Ji Yaoguang’s brows were so furrowed they could trap a fly.
"It's better to just stay home and farm!"
Ji Gangqiang didn't expect him to be so eloquent; a few words from him left the couple speechless.
Feng Li was somewhat dazed when she heard Ji Huaizhi's name.
That child.....
"What kind of attitude is this? We haven't been back for so many years, and now that we're back, we're going to be lectured by you, our son?" Ji Gangqiang's face turned red with anger.
"So what if you didn't send money back? You've all grown up now, haven't you?"
Ji Gangqiang didn't think they had done anything wrong. They saved all the money they earned, except for their own living expenses.
They're not out having a good time!
"I'm your father! How dare you, the son, lecture me?" Ji Gangqiang shook off Feng Li's hand: "Even without me sending money, your older sister's tailor shop still opened, didn't it?"
"Didn't your second sister go to university and now she's graduated and has a job?"
"Aren't you studying at a top-tier high school now? Aren't you living quite well even without us sending you money?"
"I'm not dead yet! And you're already eyeing the few coins in my pocket!" Ji Gangqiang became increasingly angry as he spoke: "Who taught you this? Did someone say something to you?"
Ji Yaoguang tilted his head and sneered: "Do we need to be taught? Don't we know how we grew up?"
"We all grew up drinking Xibaifeng!" Ji Yaoguang's tone became more aggrieved than angry.
"If you brought us into this world and are unwilling to care for us, why did you bring us into this world in the first place?"
Ji Gangqiang raised his hand to slap him, but Ji Yaoguang immediately took a step back.
Ji Gangqiang missed his target with a slap and became even angrier: "You actually dared to dodge?"
“I’ve never relied on you for a living since I was a child, so why are you hitting me?” Ji Yaoguang was also stubborn.
He didn't think he had done anything wrong.
"Just because you're my son! I could slap you even when you're old!" Ji Gangqiang roared, and tried to step forward to hit him.
Even Feng Lila couldn't stop her.
Ji Jiao also pulled her younger brother and stood in front of him, saying, "You guys haven't come back for so long, you should have guessed this would happen!"
Seeing that she dared to speak, Ji Gangqiang raised his hand to hit her, but Ji Yaoguang grabbed his wrist.
Ji Gangqiang looked up at him and realized how tall he was.
"Don't you dare hit my sister!"
Ji Jiao breathed a sigh of relief when she saw her younger brother protecting her. Good boy, he wasn't spoiled for nothing.
"You...you!" Ji Gangqiang was so angry that he couldn't speak.
The commotion here is so loud that it has attracted the attention of others, who are now looking in their direction.
"How dare you talk to your father like that?" Feng Li slapped Ji Yaoguang. "No matter what, we are still your parents! And Jiaojiao too!"
"Is this how you teach your younger siblings?"
Seeing that they only blamed others for their mistakes, Ji Yaoguang felt a sense of powerlessness.
“I’ll say it again, we have eyes, we know how you treat us. I just don’t understand, if you don’t care about us, then don’t talk about doing it for me, for us.”
"It's disgusting!"
After saying that, he led his older sister into the house.
Ji Gangqiang was so angry he almost lost his mind. He wanted to punch him as soon as he went in!
How filial can someone be if they dare to talk to their father like that?
But Feng Li kept stopping him: "Our son is already estranged from us, don't push him further away."
"Look at him!" Ji Gangqiang pointed into the room, looking like he didn't want to talk.
“I told you long ago, even if we don’t come back, we should still call more often. You’re so stingy with the phone bills that now our son doesn’t even recognize us!” Ji Gangqiang blamed everything on her.
Feng Like denied it: "That Nokia phone is clearly with you. Do you think I would stop you from making a call?"
"Try not to argue. Have a good talk with Dad tonight and ask him about what has happened over the years."
Feng Li patted herself off and glanced at the rabbit enclosure.
There were quite a few rabbits inside, but the smell was too strong.
Looking back, I noticed a few more houses, and after walking a bit further, I realized that they all seemed to be rabbit pens.
So many rabbits?
They all belong to their family?
Feng Li blinked. Did their family open a rabbit farm?
