Chapter 17 The Demon Pill Stepfather 17
"I've eaten hairy crabs before, but I've never tried sea crabs. I've only ever seen them on food vlogs online. I really want to go to the seaside." People from inland areas all want to see the sea: "Do you want to go?"
Zhou Qing shook his head: "I haven't thought about it."
She's too busy with her homework to think about these things.
“Sit up straight, your back is all hunched over!” Yang Xiangui couldn’t stand seeing his son getting along so well with Zhou Qing.
Especially the way he talks so much to Zhou Qing, it's an eyesore.
"You can say whatever you want, but why did you hit me?" Ji Dapeng said, his face full of displeasure.
At this age, the child was very concerned about his reputation, and he immediately gave Yang Xiangui a hard time.
"Hey, who did you learn this rotten behavior from? How dare you talk to me like that?" Yang Xiangui slapped his shoulder again: "Stop hanging out with shady characters."
"It's just crab, why are you so hungry?"
"So what if I'm greedy? And which of my friends is disreputable? Zhou Qing is a good student, she's from a top high school, I can hang out with her, okay?"
Yang Xiangui felt a lump in his throat with anger. This child.
The child couldn't tell, but the adults could.
Zhou Qing understood what was going on and stopped paying attention to Ji Dapeng.
Ji Huaizhi glanced at the couple and snorted coldly, "Stop being so dramatic. If you don't like it, don't eat it later."
"Fine, don't eat it then. Do you really think it's something special?"
"It just so happens that Huaisheng can't eat seafood."
Upon hearing this, Ji Dapeng immediately said, "Then Zhou Qing and I will eat later. If you're not eating, we can eat."
That brat.....
The father and mother of the Ji family remained silent, only serving food to their grandchildren after the dishes were served.
Anyway, the two brothers felt that their parents were biased, so they stopped talking and let them argue amongst themselves.
It's such a hassle to finally get out for a meal, and all this noise is giving me a headache.
When the crabs were served, Ji's mother handed them to her two children: "Qingqing will be living at school in high school soon, so make the most of your holidays and eat them while you can."
“If you get bullied outside, call your dad. That’s about all the usefulness he has.”
Zhou Qing nodded: "I understand, Grandma."
Yang Xiangui slammed the bowl down, and Ji Huaizhi looked up at Ji Huaisheng: "Can't you control your wife? She's like a mad dog. Can't you two just stay at home?"
"you....."
Father Ji frowned: "Can't you even eat in peace?"
"The kids finally have a holiday and just want to come out for a nice meal to relax. What are you doing here?"
Ji Dapeng looked completely bewildered.
Why are they arguing? What are his parents whining about?
My uncle is really fierce, just like before. I don't know who said he's changed now that he has a daughter.
Ji Huaisheng: "Dad, is this granddaughter all you and Mom care about now?"
"She clearly has nothing to do with the Ji family. You're all blind! You've forgotten your own grandson just because of this outsider?"
Seeing that her grandmother's expression was not good, Zhou Qing pulled her aside.
"What's wrong with what I said? I had a heart-to-heart talk with Dapeng before I came here. He's eaten so many meals at home. Do you think I've really neglected him?"
"I hadn't even finished speaking when your wife gave me a dirty look."
"When we get old, we don't know how much suffering you two will inflict on us."
Ji's mother was truly heartbroken.
Neither of my two sons gives me any peace of mind.
The couple looked incredulous.
Ji Dapeng, still holding a crab in his hand, looked at his parents and said, "Don't say that, Grandma hasn't neglected me."
"Shut up!" Ji Huaisheng shouted.
He wouldn't allow his son to lose face in public.
"Why should I shut up? I didn't say anything wrong!" Ji Dapeng said, sounding aggrieved.
"Grandma clearly favors me more, so why are you all fixated on this? Why do you have to argue now?"
Yang Xiangui: "That's what she should do!"
Ji's father took a deep breath and said, "It's only right, it's only right."
Haven't they done enough, both what they should and shouldn't have done?
We take care of their children, we use our savings to subsidize them, and they pay for any extra lessons or fees the children need. We also have to clean up their messes all the time.
These are things they should do. Haven't the elderly couple finished doing them yet?
“Grandpa.” Zhou Qing was the first to notice that something was wrong with her grandfather.
Ji Huaizhi was the first to stand up and support the body that was about to fall: "Dad."
"If you can't finish this meal, then leave. Your mother and I will eat slowly." Father Ji said this with a hint of weakness in his voice.
Ji's mother was also distressed by her husband's appearance.
Ji Huaisheng got up to leave with Yang Xiangui and his son.
Ji Dapeng was unwilling; he felt that his grandfather's expression was somewhat frightening, and he was a little scared.
But her father forcibly dragged her away.
Seeing how decisively he left, that feeling of emotion rushing straight to the top of my head came back again.
Ji Huaizhi helped him up and looked at Zhou Qing: "You and Grandma go home first, I'll take Grandpa to the hospital to get checked out."
"Grandma?" Zhou Qing asked, pulling on Ji's mother.
Ji's mother leaned on the table and stood up: "Let's go back. I should have just eaten at home. It's embarrassing to be out here."
Looking at the huge spread on the table, he waved to the waiter to pack it up: "You and Dapeng like this one with the shell, take it home and eat it."
“Your dad is much better this time. Before, he and his brother would just leave after arguing, not caring about whether we old folks lived or died.” Unexpectedly, this time they noticed something was wrong with Mr. Ji.
“Dad is getting better.” Zhou Qing pulled her grandmother back home.
She was a little worried: "Is Grandpa alright?"
"What could possibly be wrong? It's all minor."
"As you get older, your body deteriorates, and all sorts of ailments start to appear."
Ji's mother's tone was somewhat desolate.
The elderly couple dedicated their entire lives to their children, but unfortunately, neither of them lived up to their expectations.
Sometimes at night she would talk to her husband about whether their genes were bad or if there was something wrong with the Ji family's ancestral graves.
When they arrived home, the two were surprised to find Ji Dapeng sitting at the door.
Hearing the noise, Ji Dapeng looked up and said with a somewhat awkward expression, "You're back? I haven't even had a proper meal yet."
Mrs. Ji rubbed her grandson's head: "What are you doing sitting outside? There are so many mosquitoes. Don't you have the key?"
Ji Dapeng patted his hair; at his age, he didn't like people touching his hair.
He felt uncomfortable the whole way, with a feeling of tightness and anxiety in his heart.
Zhou Qing opened the door, and Ji's mother placed the takeout boxes on the dining table: "Qingqing, open these. It's a waste for you and Dapeng to eat them."
"I'll call your dad."
Ji Dapeng quietly asked Zhou Qing, "Where's Grandpa?"
"Grandpa wasn't feeling well, so my dad took him to the hospital."
Ji Dapeng remained silent, then picked up the crab and started peeling it.
He was raised by his father, Ji, and was only taken back to live with his parents after he became sensible. His father and uncle had a bad relationship for a long time.
"Grandma, you don't need to call my parents for meals anymore. Just call me if you need anything."
“My dad and uncle have been at odds for a long time. For the sake of your hearts, let’s not let them meet.”
Mother Ji waved her hand: "Never mind, I'll talk to your grandfather when he gets back."
It's a tragedy that your two sons are like enemies.
The doctor told Ji Huaizhi that his father was too emotional. As he gets older, he shouldn't have too many emotional fluctuations, otherwise it could easily cause high blood pressure, cerebral infarction, and angina.
Either way, it would be a fatal blow to the elderly person's health.
Ji Huaizhi nodded after listening.
Afterwards, the doctor asked Ji's father some other questions. During this time, Ji Huaizhi noticed that his father's memory was starting to deteriorate, and his speech became slurred and somewhat incoherent.
Thinking back, I realized that my father had been rather irritable and easily angered lately.
I've already had several arguments with Ji's mother.
"My dad's memory hasn't been very good lately," Ji Huaizhi said casually.
While taking notes, the doctor replied, "That's how it is when people get older. Their memory and physical functions decline with age, so we need to pay close attention to the elderly person's emotions."
"Um."
