Chapter 18 Life Swap 18

Chapter 18 Life Swap 18

"You think I'm really joking with you?" Ji Xiong's face was dark red. "You guys have disappointed me too much."

"Eldest brother, I really resent you. You haven't sent a single penny back to the three kids! I thought you had saved up a lot, but it turns out it's all gone."

Ji Xiong's breathing grew heavier as he spoke.

Ji Gang clenched his fists and remained silent.

How come everyone can make money except them?

"Dad! We didn't secretly enjoy ourselves outside. We even tried doing business over there to earn more money, but we ended up losing everything, and then we had an accident and had to stay in the hospital for a while." Feng Li described their plight very tragically.

"We didn't call back because we were too ashamed. Don't blame Gangqiang."

Ji Xiong drank silently.

"In the end, I never expected that Tang Guixiang would be doing much better than me."

The tone conveyed regret and disappointment.

Feng Li looked up: "Gangzheng is also your son. Does he only care about his mother and not you, his father?"

Ji Xiong glanced at them sideways: "Anyway, I'm more filial than you guys."

The two were speechless; Feng Li was thinking about how much money they had made raising rabbits.

"Looks like you brought all that stuff back but didn't give me anything." Ji Xiong sighed, unable to suppress a self-deprecating laugh. "What kind of business are you guys doing out there?"

Feng Li and Ji Gangqiang felt somewhat ashamed.

Ji Gangqiang wiped his face: "Dad, I'm sorry!"

"But it's really tough for us out there."

Ji Xiong's gaze fell on the leather shoes on his feet, then on the dyed and permed hair on Feng Li's head. He said nothing, yet it seemed as if he had said everything.

Meeting his father's gaze, Ji Gangqiang felt even more ashamed.

Ji Xiong was as happy as he was to see his son and daughter-in-law return today, and now he is just as disappointed.

"Dad, what do you mean by saying that Ji Gangzheng and his family bought a house in the provincial capital?" Feng Li asked again after she had finished apologizing.

Ji Xiong: "Can't you understand human language? You know in your heart whether you can't believe it or you don't understand."

Feng Li was also annoyed: "I don't believe that money in the family is so easy to earn!"

"Who knows what they're doing out there? That money isn't so easy to earn."

Ji Xiong looked at them and asked, "Then why can everyone else make money, but you can't?"

"Even your kid can make a name for himself selling rabbits, why can't you?"

Ji Gangqiang spoke with difficulty: "Dad, it's our fault that you and the children have suffered. It's all our fault."

As darkness fell, the three people wore expressions that varied under the yellow light bulbs.

Ji Gangqiang felt a pang of heartache at the thought of his younger brother's success. Feng Li was thinking that Ji Huaizhi was even more outstanding than Yaoguang. When they went out before, they had prepared for him not to live past adulthood.

She now deeply regrets switching the babies. She and her husband don't care about any of their three children. They feel like their daughter is being raised by someone else, and although their son can support them in their old age, the thought that he isn't their biological child makes them feel uneasy.

Judging from today's situation, I have a feeling that he's definitely not my biological son.

As Ji Xiong drank, he regretted divorcing Tang Guixiang.

Life after a divorce is anything but easy.

Although his youngest son didn't neglect him, there was still a distance between them. He was getting older and wanted to enjoy his old age.

Ji Huaizhi guessed that his younger brother was in a bad mood at this moment, so he took out his phone, swiped up, and dialed a number: "Hello?"

"Brother, what's wrong?"

“Someone has already contacted me about acquiring the rabbit farm. I’ll call you and discuss it.”

Upon hearing Ji Huaizhi's words, Ji Yaoguang put on a coat and went out, where he happened to run into Feng Li and Ji Gangqiang, who had just finished their meal.

The couple were surprised to see the phone next to his ear, and then they saw him turn away and leave.

"Brother, are we really going to sell the rabbit farm? I'd rather not study than keep raising rabbits." Ji Yaoguang sat on a rock, pulling weeds in his hand.

Ji Huaizhi's clear voice came through the phone: "Do you want to stay here your whole life and not go out to see the world?"

"The college entrance exam is just around the corner, so we definitely can't take care of this rabbit farm. Besides, I was the one who contacted them first; otherwise, their rabbits would probably be having babies by the time we finish our exams."

"So it's better to just sell off these rabbits and connections now and make another profit."

Listening to the breathing on the other end, Ji Huaizhi said again, "Yaoguang, trust your brother, there are other ways out in the future."

"What's more important for us now is the college entrance exam. Once you get to university, I'll help you start a business."

Ji Yaoguang didn't understand what entrepreneurship was, but he knew that Ji Huaizhi wouldn't harm him.

"Of course I believe you, I just can't bear to part with you." Ji Yaoguang leaned against a rock, looking at the stars in the sky.

He was practically raised like a rabbit, so losing this career is really tough on him.

Ji Huaizhi: "Don't be reluctant, I have good news for you. But don't tell anyone."

Ji Yaoguang's eyes changed: "Demolition? You mean the house we bought in the provincial capital is being demolished? You're not kidding me, are you? I'll be a demolition compensation recipient from now on?"

"Yes, but don't tell anyone. I'm telling you now just to make you happy in advance."

Ji Huaizhi's words made him stop smiling, but he was still very excited: "How did you know? Is this reliable?"

He has now forgotten about the rabbit factory.

“You’re reliable. When I told you to buy the house, don’t tell anyone. Now, don’t mention the demolition and relocation issue either,” Ji Huaizhi instructed him.

"I know." Ji Yaoguang clenched his fist and gave a thumbs-up: "You and your second aunt both bought a house, so isn't that double the demolition compensation?"

Ji Huaizhi: "Yes, I'll have my mom use the demolition compensation to pay off the loan and then buy another house, and keep a portion for university students to start their own businesses. What are your thoughts?"

Ji Yaoguang's eyes lit up: "Brother, I'll follow in your footsteps."

He knew that listening to Ji Huaizhi was the right thing to do; he wouldn't let himself suffer a loss.

Ji Huaizhi smirked: "Follow me? What if I suffer losses?"

Ji Yaoguang waved his hand: "Then we can just start over. I started with nothing, and since I'm underage, I couldn't get a loan. My second uncle helped me get one. To be honest, the house is in my second uncle's name. You could have just taken the demolition compensation and returned the down payment to me and pretended nothing happened..."

He didn't continue speaking, but he believed the other person understood what he meant.

“Brother, I grew up with you, and you never forget me no matter what good things happen to you.” Ji Yaoguang was touched: “My second uncle and aunt are so good to me because of you.”

"Even if all the compensation money for the demolition goes down the drain, I'll just be back where I started."

"I will not blame anyone."

"Alright, why are we talking about this?" Ji Huaizhi changed the subject: "I told you about the demolition so that you wouldn't think about the rabbit factory."

"I know." Ji Yaoguang smiled and scratched his head. "By the way, brother."

"My parents are back. I had a fight with them today, and I don't know how to face them."

Ji Huaizhi made the call because he knew they were coming back.

"Do as you please. You're old enough to know right from wrong." Ji Huaizhi didn't say anything else.

“Well, I used to resent them, but now I don’t seem to resent them anymore. Sometimes I feel conflicted.” Ji Yaoguang’s eyes were filled with confusion: “They always seem to care about me when they talk, but I don’t feel it.”

“My sister cares about me and helps me with everything in life. My grandfather cares about me and saves me the best food.”

"They say they care about me, but they haven't done anything about it."

Ji Huaizhi: "Listen to your heart. Be good to those who are good to you."
