Chapter 19 Life Swap 19
As the fog cleared, Ji Yaoguang understood.
The night air in their hometown was filled with the chirping of insects and the croaking of frogs. Ji Gangqiang and his wife lay in bed and sighed.
"It's still best to live in my own little kennel. I'm so tired of that tiny single room next door." Ji Gangqiang closed his eyes and enjoyed the moment.
Feng Li couldn't sleep because she had something on her mind, so she woke up the tired Ji Gangqiang: "I saw Yaoguang had a cell phone in his hand, the kind you see on TV."
Ji Gangqiang opened his eyes: "I know what you're thinking. My dad doesn't want to say much about that child either."
"They're afraid we'll acknowledge him as our son."
Feng Li frowned: "That's our son. What's the big deal if we acknowledge him as our son?"
Ji Gangqiang glanced at her sideways: "What do you think? Let's hold back for now. We don't know anything since we just got back. Let's see how things go first."
Feng Li nodded: "I didn't expect both children to be so outstanding. To be honest, Yaoguang isn't our biological child, so I really can't be good to him."
"Seeing him reminds me of that time we switched babies at the hospital."
Ji Gangqiang closed his eyes: "Stop talking. I've been thinking a lot about whether we were wrong from the very beginning?"
Feng Li turned to look at him: "How much money do you think that rabbit farm can make?"
"I didn't realize it during the day, but now I remember raising rabbits to support Qianqian's education and opening a tailor shop for Jiaojiao. Do you see that TV and other things in the main room? Your dad doesn't have much money; I bet he made it all from selling rabbits."
Ji Gangzheng opened his eyes again: "What do you want to do?"
Feng Li nudged him: "You look like I'm about to do something bad. I was just thinking that the child is about to take the college entrance exam, and your brother's family has become rich. How about we sell these rabbits?"
Ji Gangqiang closed his eyes again: "I feel like I have a phobia of doing business now, and Gangzheng would never agree to it."
"Let's go and beg him," Feng Li said shamelessly.
"It's normal for brothers to help each other out. If that doesn't work, have your dad talk to him. We're brothers, after all."
“Not the same mother,” Ji Gangqiang said softly, sounding sleepy.
"Moreover, I don't think Dad will speak up for us anymore. He was very disappointed in us today. Gangzheng has been quite good to him these past few years, but he was unhappy with what you said about Gangzheng today."
He never did that before.
“We’re not enjoying ourselves out there. Your dad’s words are full of complaints about us. Don’t you know what kind of life we’re living out there?” Feng Li talked to herself for a long time.
Seeing that he hadn't made a sound, I realized he had been asleep for a while.
Feng Li pursed her lips and suddenly rolled over.
Feng Li wanted to bring up the rabbit again, but she didn't find the opportunity.
Ji Yaoguang didn't pay much attention to them and wanted to start with Ji Jiao. Ji Jiao rode her bicycle to the tailor shop early in the morning to mend her clothes.
She told Ji Xiong these things, but Ji Xiong pretended not to understand.
Before she could even be stunned, Ji Huaizhi and his men came to inspect the rabbit pen, and she heard the word "acquisition."
"Acquire what? I disagree!"
As soon as Feng Li finished speaking, Ji Yaoguang turned around and asked, "What business is this of yours?"
"Don't get involved, this isn't your home."
Feng Li never expected her son to be so disrespectful to her in front of others: "That's yours! What's yours is mine and your dad's!"
"How can you just sell it like that? Aren't we making money?"
“You’re wrong.” Ji Yaoguang stared at her.
Feng Li was stunned.
“This isn’t mine either, and it has nothing to do with you. Don’t assume everything you see is yours. Do you act the same way outside?” Ji Yaoguang was speechless.
Feng Li was anxious and decided to wait until everyone left before talking to them.
Their gaze fell on Ji Huaizhi.
Someone nearby said to Ji Huaizhi, "Did your aunt and uncle invest money in this breeding farm?"
"No, Uncle, you know they just got back. They might have misunderstood something," Ji Huaizhi said calmly.
"Oh, I thought it had something to do with her. Are you sure you're not going to do it? If raising rabbits is profitable, why don't you drop out of school?" The person who bought the rabbits was from the neighborhood.
They wanted to raise rabbits because they were envious of the money the rabbits made. When they heard that the rabbit owners had given up raising them to go to school, they wanted to take over the business.
After all, it's close to home, and these rabbit pens are readily available.
“We’re still young. What if we get better options after we go to school?” Ji Huaizhi smiled.
The man didn't try to dissuade him: "That's true, you and Yaoguang are both promising people."
"Take me to see the rabbit pen in the back. How are you making the rabbit feed now?"
Ji Huaizhi continued, “We are currently using freshly cut pig feed, but it was cut in the afternoon. If the pig feed has dew on it in the morning, the rabbits might get diarrhea. We also have purchased hay and grass feed.”
“The land beneath the rabbit pen that was built belonged to my grandparents. Your acquisition doesn’t include the land. You can ask them if they’re willing to sell. If they’re not, you’ll have to pay rent annually,” Ji Huaizhi explained to him beforehand.
The man said it was no problem: "I'll go back and discuss it with my family. You can call your parents over tomorrow."
Since they're going to call Sun Qiao and Ji Gangzheng, it definitely means they're going to get married.
He still felt that Ji Huaizhi was too young and that these matters should be discussed by adults.
"OK."
After everyone left, Ji Huaizhi handed something to Ji Xiong: "Master, this is what my father asked me to bring."
"Yes, your dad is very thoughtful." Ji Xiong nodded. "How's your grandma doing lately?"
"It's alright, I've been dancing in the square with people lately."
Ji Xiong felt a lump in his throat. That brat.
"Huaizhi," Feng Li called out cautiously.
Ji Gangqiang stared at him intently: "You've grown so tall, huh? Good lad."
Ji Yaoguang's lips twitched as he looked at them speechlessly. How could they be acting so convincingly, treating Ji Huaizhi with more sincerity than if he were his own son?
"You must be my uncle and aunt?" Ji Huaizhi nodded politely.
Feng Li reached out to look at him, but Ji Huaizhi took a step back as if sensing her presence: "Sorry, I don't really like strangers touching me."
