Chapter 22 The Demon Pill Stepfather 22

Chapter 22 The Demon Pill Stepfather 22

"We're not doing anything today, everyone should rest first, and we won't be cooking dinner tonight."

"Let's eat out, and after we've rested, the whole family will clean together tomorrow."

The handkerchief in Zhou Qing's hand was taken away. She didn't really care. What was wrong with doing some chores at home?

Ji Huaizhi would occasionally go out, but most of the time he stayed at home with his parents.

There was no further contact with Ji Huaisheng. His parents didn't bring it up either. Occasionally, outsiders would ask a few questions, and his parents would just say that they didn't know how to raise their children.

After Ji Dapeng entered his senior year of high school, he became busy and basically stopped coming over.

He would only come over for a meal occasionally during holidays. Ji's mother thought that Dapeng was like Zhou Qing when he was in his senior year of high school, coming back once a month. Later she found out that Dapeng was still a day student.

As for why they didn't come over for dinner, it's probably because Yang Xiangui and his wife wouldn't allow it.

One night, Ji's mother received a call from her grandson, Dapeng, who was crying on the phone. Ji's parents were worried and thought something had happened.

When asked, it turned out that Ji Dapeng had argued with his family and wanted to come over for dinner every night from now on.

The couple had no objections to their grandson. They agreed to let him come over for meals every day. What's wrong with cooking for their own grandson?

Later I found out that Yang Xiangui stopped letting him come over for meals after he was a senior in high school.

They wouldn't let him eat at school either, saying that the senior year of high school was crucial and he needed to get enough nutrition every day, and that they would bring him lunch to school every day at noon.

Unexpectedly, Yang Xiangui was always late in delivering lunch, even forgetting to do so at lunchtime.

That year, Ji Dapeng could only attend class on an empty stomach, or buy a piece of bread to eat on his own.

Ji Dapeng was so angry that he told Yang Xiangui to stop bringing him lunch. He said that lunchtime was just making him suffer and that he might as well eat at school, where there was no risk of poisoning.

I still want to eat at Grandma's in the evening because Yang Xiangui and Ji Huaisheng are both at work.

They came back at different times, some early and some late.

After eating, Ji Dapeng had to go to evening self-study.

Therefore, Ji Dapeng felt that he shouldn't have listened to his parents in the first place.

They hadn't cooked for him in so long, and suddenly cooking for him disrupted their plans.

The argument was about food, and Ji Dapeng felt wronged.

Ji Huaizhi couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this: "Your parents are really reliable!"

"Uncle, please stop making fun of me."

"Aren't you tired of running back and forth between three points? You're in your final year of high school, you might as well save your time and study properly." Ji Huaizhi patted his shoulder.

Ji's mother also felt that her son made sense: "Yes, it must be tiring for you to run back and forth like this."

Father Ji immediately made the decision: "You can stay here from now on. It just so happens that your school is closer to here."

Ji Huaizhi stood up: "That's good. I just need to go out for a trip. You can stay home and keep Grandpa and Grandma company."

And so, Ji Dapeng stayed at his grandparents' house until the end of the college entrance examination and Zhou Qing returned.

When Ji Dapeng graduated from high school, Ji Huaizhi took them on another trip, and Ji's father was the happiest.

I was in high spirits the whole way.

Ji Huaizhi drove ahead and said, "Dad, you're so happy. Let's all go out for a trip every semester when they have a break."

“Your mother and I are getting younger every day. Being able to come out and see the world is already enough; where would we find so much time?” As he spoke, Mr. Ji couldn't help but laugh.

"I never thought that your mother and I would be the ones to enjoy the blessings you've given us."

Ji's father sat in the passenger seat, holding onto the upper right armrest with one hand.

The highway ahead stretched out like a road leading to the sky.

The blue sky and white clouds above are a sight to behold.

Father Ji smiled contentedly: "Old woman, don't you think I'm right?"

"People outside said we worried our whole lives, but we never expected that in the end we would be the two of us living the most carefree lives."

"I can also travel and enjoy the scenery with my grandchildren."

"Yes, there's so much to look forward to these days," Mrs. Ji chuckled. "If Huaizhi continues to be this sensible, I won't have to worry about him anymore."

Zhou Qing leaned against Ji's mother: "Isn't it great that Dad is like this? He has time to spend with you, and he can even take us out to play during holidays. Isn't that wonderful?"

"Yes, that's great." Ji's mother looked at the windshield and said, "Old man, look at that huge cloud in front of us."

The day after returning from his trip, Ji Dapeng came over for a free meal as usual.

They even brought a cold drink for Zhou Qing, but unexpectedly, as soon as Ji's father came out, he asked them who they were and why they were in his house.

Zhou Qing was taken aback and immediately ran to Ji Huaizhi's room to knock on the door.

"Grandpa, don't scare me. You're so old, why would you pretend to have amnesia?" Ji Dapeng said cautiously.

The unfamiliarity in Grandpa's eyes was genuine.

That's why it's even more terrifying.

Ji Huaizhi, still half-asleep and wearing slippers, came out and asked, "Old man, I heard you've lost your memory?"

Father Ji looked at Ji Huaizhi with a puzzled expression: "Who are you? Get out of my house!"

"Get out! My son is stabbing someone."

Zhou Qing and Ji Dapeng stood to one side, their expressions somewhat panicked, their eyes filled with worry.

Ji Huaizhi: "What's your bankbook password?"

"Ji Huaizhi, all you care about are those few coins I have! Get out of here! I don't have a son like you!" Ji's father suddenly started hitting him like he used to when Ji Huaizhi was a scoundrel.

"You've been causing trouble again. They even came to our house yesterday. Where have you been? Why haven't you come back for so long?"

"You hit someone with your car, you'll go to jail!"

Uncle Ji's words were somewhat incoherent.

However, they could all tell that Ji's father was referring to Ji Huaizhi's past.

Seeing his father's imposing manner, Ji Huaizhi did not back down.

"Yes, yes, I hit someone. You need to go to the hospital and pay my bills, or I'll go to jail."

Father Ji muttered curses and circled around in place several times before muttering that he needed to go back to his room to get the money.

Ji Huaizhi looked at Zhou Qing and Ji Dapeng, who were stunned: "You two wait at home for your grandma to come back. I'll take grandpa to the hospital first. When you talk to grandma later, speak slowly so as not to scare her."

The two nodded.

Father Ji came out with his bankbook, muttering that he was paying the fine.

Ji Huaizhi took him to the hospital.

The results showed Alzheimer's disease. As is customary, the doctor asked, "He has been coming for checkups every year. Has he been taking his prescribed medication on time?"

Ji Huaizhi shook his head: "He's eating, but not on time."

"I had symptoms before, but I didn't expect it to come so quickly."

The doctor reassured him: "It's only a matter of time before he develops early symptoms. He will occasionally regain his previous consciousness, but the frequency of these recoveries will decrease as time goes on."

"Then comes cognitive decline and confusion."

"Later on, language deterioration and behavioral abnormalities became increasingly severe."

Ji Huaizhi listened attentively, while his father sat beside him, muttering about paying the money.

“I have reviewed the results of the previous tests. The previous stages may last for 2-8 years. Your father had symptoms three years ago, which is within the normal range.”

"You family members will have to work a little harder and take good care of the patient."

"Given his current condition, he needs someone by his side," the doctor advised him.

After all, he's still young, so let him prepare himself mentally.

Ji Huaizhi nodded.

After returning home, Ji's father seemed to have recovered somewhat, but he kept frowning.

When Ji Huaizhi was sitting in the car, he asked his father if he knew the way. Ji Huaizhi noticed that his father's brows were furrowed into a tight knot.

"Alright, old man, from now on you'll only be able to rely on your good-for-nothing son." Ji Huaizhi fastened his seatbelt.

He fastened his belt again, then drove away.

Ji's mother was already waiting at home.

Out of fear, Ji Dapeng called his parents, who made an excuse that they were too busy and said they would come over after work. Ji Dapeng got very angry and told them to get back home immediately.

He was cursing and swearing on the phone.

Ji Huaisheng and Yang Xiangui were both speechless.
