Chapter 22 The Ungrateful Childhood Sweetheart
After she calmed down, Ji Huaizhi couldn't resist teasing her again:
"Didn't you want to go back and see them? Why are you crying now?"
Jiang Xiaomei's tears were still on her face as she pinched the soft flesh of Ji Huaizhi's waist: "It's different. It's completely different when we take the initiative to go back than when they come to us."
Ji Huaizhi gave a soft "hmm": "If we really went back then, I bet you would have said you weren't going back when you got to the village entrance."
The next day, Ji Huaizhi asked Jiang Xiaomei for leave.
If he has to go to class, he can't watch over her all the time. If he's not there, and the Jiang family members run into her first, they'll definitely beat her up in public.
Instead of doing that, let her hide for a while.
After class, Ji Huaizhi did not leave. He went to the counselor's office first to tell the teacher.
The counselor's expression twisted for a moment after hearing this. She was really afraid of dealing with these kinds of parents. They wouldn't listen to anyone, they would only make a fuss and shout, and if you didn't go along with them, they would only make a bigger fuss.
"I understand. Just be careful lately. It would be best to persuade your parents to go back home so as not to affect you."
"Well, that's why I told you first, so they wouldn't make a scene in front of you."
Counselor: Don't come any closer.
"I remember hearing that your partner works in a library?" The counselor asked to clarify the situation first, but he was completely unreasonable and took the girl away.
Although she wasn't treated badly,... she still took the girl away.
"Yes, I've asked for leave for her temporarily."
"Alright, before they cause any trouble, go and try to persuade your family. If you can't handle anything, call me again. The important thing is communication, understand?"
"Generally speaking, as long as it's not a matter of principle, the school won't cause you any trouble. You can handle it yourself."
Ji Huaizhi understood that the counselor didn't want to get involved, and neither did he.
But I still need to report it first.
After leaving, Ji Huaizhi went directly to the boys' dormitory.
As soon as I walked over, the Ji and Jiang families were sitting on the flower bed below the men's dormitory. Judging from their impatient expressions, they must have been waiting for a long time.
Fang Yuan was still standing in front of them, angrily saying something.
"I never expected him to be this kind of person. Uncle and Aunt, don't worry, we have class this afternoon. I'll take you to our teaching building."
“Expose his true colors in front of classmates and teachers.”
Fang Yuan looked righteous, as if he wanted to help them get justice.
But only he himself knew that he felt he had caught Ji Huaizhi red-handed.
Ji Xianglong carefully examined the man. It seemed that his younger brother wasn't doing very well either, since his classmates all disliked him so much.
"Thank you so much, you're such a kind person." Ji's mother squeezed his hand. "We had no other choice."
“He just left without a word and even took someone’s daughter with him. Our family is only so well-off. I never expected him to hate us so much. He doesn’t understand our hard work as parents at all. He hasn’t contacted us even once since he left.”
Ji Xianglong spat: "Ungrateful wretch."
"He should have been killed when he was a child."
Fang Yuan's smile grew wider and wider.
I never expected this, Ji Huaizhi, it's not just that your family isn't well-off.
With family members like this, what are you pretending for?
Did you think starting a business in college would change your life?
People like you should be dragged back to the countryside by them and continue to be a country bumpkin!
"He's really gone too far. He's living a good life at school and making so much money but he doesn't even send it back to you. He's an utterly disloyal, unfilial, and unjust person!"
"He made so much money?" Ji Xianglong frowned and stepped forward. "What kind of money did he make?"
"What money could that quiet, good-for-nothing like him possibly make? Selling takeout?"
"He..." Fang Yuan was about to speak when he saw Ji Huaizhi standing behind them.
He crossed his arms and gave a cryptic smile, and Fang Yuan suddenly found himself speechless.
"Hmm? Why did you stop talking?" Ji Huaizhi's voice rang out.
Everyone looked back.
"Wouldn't it be easier for you to act this scene if I came?"
Ji Huaizhi had his hands in his pockets, the cuffs of his loose gray coat rolled up to his forearms, the zipper not fully zipped up, and the collar and shoulders hanging loosely.
A gust of wind blew, and the freckles on his forehead fluttered.
Ji's mother and father could hardly believe it; was this their son?
How did that ordinary son change?
But upon closer inspection, the eyebrows and eyes revealed that it was Ji Huaizhi, whom they had been searching for for a long time.
"Ji Huaizhi? You dare to show your face in front of us?" Ji Xianglong's expression was vicious, especially seeing his current city-man's attitude, which was particularly infuriating.
She stepped forward to push his shoulder, but Ji Huaizhi dodged to the side.
"Why wouldn't I dare to appear before you?" Ji Huaizhi looked at them coldly.
"Do you know how long we've been looking for you? How much suffering you've endured on the way here?" Ji's mother immediately began to blame.
"You left without a word, do you even respect your parents?" Father Ji pointed at him, "Just because we didn't pay your tuition? You've even learned to run away from home?"
"Your parents gave you life and raised you, and this is how you repay them?"
"Did I send you here? And why are you here to see me?" Ji Huaizhi sneered, looking at Ji Xianglong: "Because he thinks I'm superior to him because I went to university in the city, so he sent you to take me back?"
"Don't try to pressure me with your filial piety. I also have the surname Ji, and I share the same blood as you. The Ji family's genes have long been rotten to the core."
Ji Xianglong stared wide-eyed, his fists clenched tightly.
If there weren't so many people around, he would have punched him in the face.
“Ji Huaizhi, do you think you’re a city person just because you’ve come to the city? I’m here to teach your parents a lesson. You’ve caused trouble for the family and run away from home, which is unfilial to your parents. I’m going to let your classmates know you properly in front of them.”
As he spoke, he raised his hand as if to make a move.
He was knocked to the ground by Ji Huaizhi with a single punch.
When the people around saw that a fight had broken out, they took a step back and formed a circle around them.
"Ji Xianglong." Ji Huaizhi leaned closer and looked down at him: "You've been jealous of me since we were kids, haven't you?"
"I heard I was making money out there, and you're here so soon?"
"You're lecturing me on behalf of my parents? They're not dead yet."
Ji's father was so angry that he punched him, but unexpectedly, his own hand hurt instead.
"Are you cursing us to die? Look at what you're doing! He's your older brother. What's wrong with him disciplining you? How dare you fight back?"
“Yes, Huaizhi.” Ji’s mother grabbed his arm: “Quickly apologize to your father and brother. We can talk about it when we get back.”
Ji Huaizhi shook off his mother's hand: "Why go back?"
"I got into university, but you won't let me study just because he's unhappy with you." Ji Huaizhi pointed at Ji Xianglong lying on the ground: "Why should I apologize?"
"Didn't you say that if I wanted to go to school, you would pretend I didn't have a son?"
"I have nothing to do with you anymore, so why are you coming to find me now?"
