Chapter 24 The Laziest Man in the Countryside

Chapter 24 The Laziest Man in the Countryside

Huang Jie paid special attention to Ji Huaizhi when training the hospital staff these past few days.

He would ask Ji Huaizhi to answer any questions or to hear Ji Huaizhi's insights. After only a short training period, he exclaimed that he still had to rely on his mentor.

Ji Huaizhi had no prior experience in medicine, but the fact that he has grown to this level is already quite remarkable.

But even after so many days, Ji Huaizhi still hasn't taken him to the village.

This made him a little anxious.

After the training, he went to find Ji Huaizhi. Just as he was about to call out to him, he saw a familiar person appear in front of him as Ji Huaizhi was pushing his bicycle toward the hospital entrance.

He visited her before she went to the countryside, and at that time she was so worried about him that she had no energy or spirit.

His eyes were filled with anxiety and fear.

Now, however, she has a big smile on her face, like she's picking up her husband from get off work.

Huang Jie was thrilled to see familiar faces in this unfamiliar place.

"Little Pearl".

Li Zhenzhu turned her head when she heard the familiar voice, her eyes filled with surprise: "Brother Jie?"

What are you doing here?

"I'm here on a business trip, of course I volunteered." Huang Jie's glasses were slightly askew with excitement: "It really is you! I heard you went to the countryside... is it the village where Master and the others live?"

He felt that was the case, after all, she was obviously very familiar with Ji Huaizhi, and he could even clearly sense that their relationship was unusual.

"Um."

Li Zhenzhu introduced Ji Huaizhi: "This is my father's student, named Huang Jie."

“This is my husband, Ji Huaizhi.”

Huang Jie glanced at Ji Huaizhi, then at Li Zhenzhu, his smile somewhat forced.

It wasn't that he had any other feelings for Pearl; it was just that hearing that Pearl was getting married here made him feel very alienated.

"What are you doing here?" Ji Huaizhi asked knowingly.

Huang Jie felt like he'd been tricked: "What do you think? I treated you to a meal and a soft drink, and you said you'd take me to see my master."

"Oh right, let's go together tomorrow. You've been calling me wife and sister, so I'll take you to my house for dinner tomorrow."

Huang Jie: "......"

Li Zhenzhu sat in the back seat of Ji Huaizhi: "You already knew he was also my father's student?"

"He introduced himself as soon as he came up, so of course I knew." Ji Huaizhi rode his bicycle on the dirt road, occasionally bumping along.

"Then why didn't you take him to the village?" Li Zhenzhu asked, puzzled. "Besides, I've never heard you mention him."

Ji Huaizhi raised an eyebrow and smiled: "What if he's a bad guy? Of course I can't just bring anyone along."

This was just an excuse he made up, but Li Zhenzhu believed it.

With no one around, she hugged the man's waist tightly: "You're so thoughtful."

Huang Jie brought a lot of things to Huoshaofangzi Village. He sat on the back of Ji Huaizhi's seat, carrying things in both hands, while Ji Huaizhi also had a lot of things tied to the front.

If it weren't for the fact that there were gifts for his family in there, he would have kicked Huang Jie out.

“Your village is practically in the mountains.”

"Yes, although we have to work all year round here, this mountain area is still very rich in resources. At least no one has ever starved to death when we were hungry."

Huang Jie nodded upon hearing Ji Huaizhi's words.

I thought to myself, thank goodness my master was brought here.

In villages with very poor conditions, it will be even harder to get by, especially in winter.

As they approached the village, Huang Jie looked at the terraced fields on the hillside and was struck by their magnificence; it was the first time he had ever seen such a sight.

"I found it much colder here than in the city." He felt he wasn't dressed warmly enough.

"It's getting colder."

The workers who were leaving work were astonished to see Ji Huaizhi bringing back so much stuff: "Huaizhi, are the benefits and perks of working in the city really that good? You can't even fit all this stuff on your bicycle."

"Uncle, I'm just a deliveryman. The goods all belong to my boss."

Huang Jie felt something was off when he said he was a leader, and he nodded shyly to the villagers in greeting.

"Oh, we have guests today?"

"So young and already a leader? Do you have a boyfriend?"

"No wonder your mom went home early today, saying she had to go back to cook. Turns out we had important guests."

"Yes, Uncle and Aunt, I'm going back now. Let's chat sometime." Ji Huaizhi said and then left.

Everyone was curious as to why the leaders had come to the village party secretary's house.

"This lazybones is really lucky," someone remarked, marveling at Ji Huai's good fortune.

After he got married, everyone in the village envied his life.

When she arrived home, Wang Xiuju had already prepared a stewed chicken. Upon hearing that the visitor was Huaizhi's leader, who was from the provincial capital, she immediately slaughtered a chicken and stir-fried some pork belly, a dish usually eaten during holidays.

"Mom and Dad, I'm back," Ji Huaizhi called out.

They unloaded everything from the car.

When the three Ji brothers came out and saw that this person was carrying so many things, they were puzzled. Did Ji Huaizhi have such a good life outside?

Did his superiors also give him gifts?

It has a feeling of reversing the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches.

"Hello, uncles and aunts, my name is Huang Jie." Huang Jie adjusted his glasses.

Huaizhi told him when he came that the villagers didn't know about the relationship between Pearl and his master, and he didn't look at Pearl at all the time.

"Oh my, you're really handsome." Wang Xiuju stepped forward and, seeing how much stuff he was carrying, knew that killing that chicken had been worth it. "You came all this way, why did you bring so much?"

"From now on, just come directly, and don't bring anything, or Auntie will get angry."

Wang Xiuju stepped forward to take the bags from his hands, but to her surprise, the other party wouldn't let go and looked embarrassed.

"Auntie, this... this isn't for you. The gift Huaizhi brought for you is in his hand." Huang Jie's face turned red.

Everyone couldn't help but laugh when they saw it.

Wang Xiuju was embarrassed for a moment: "Oh dear, I made a big blunder. But it's alright, I just left it in the corner of the main room, no one will take it."

Huang Jie nodded: "Can I come directly again in the future?"

This was the first time Wang Xiuju had ever seen a child like this. Was he really a leader?

"Come in! Welcome, Auntie! Come on in."

Ji Huaizhi had informed Ji Hong beforehand, so Ji Hong knew that the child had come specifically to see Li the Cripple and his wife.

She's a thoughtful child.

"Don't be shy. After dinner, let Huaizhi take you sightseeing. Why don't you stay here for a couple more days?" Ji Hong said casually.

"Thank you, Uncle and Aunt. I didn't know what you liked before I came, so I brought you some food." Huang Jie thought to himself that it was good that he had brought quite a lot of things.

He had saved up his salary for this moment.
