Chapter 25: Did I expose my brother's infidelity?
The scene was in complete chaos. Ji Huaizhi put down his hand and Ji Shu had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep.
This time we really need to call 120 (emergency services).
The driver knelt on the ground: "I...this..."
"What sins have I committed?"
Ji Huaijin was stunned by the scene before him. After a while, he was still a little confused. So many goods were thrown down, and it was not certain whether he could survive.
Ji Huaizhi called out softly, "Brother."
"Stop looking, someone has already called an ambulance."
"It's all fate."
When Ji Huaizhi uttered the words "it's all fate," an incomprehensible rune suddenly appeared on his forehead, radiating golden light.
It flashed by in an instant.
Everyone was focused on the side of the truck, so no one saw the golden light.
Ji Huaizhi frowned.
My head suddenly felt like it was filled with lead, both painful and heavy.
Although his expression didn't reveal much, the sweat on his forehead and the pale face from the pain showed that he was trying his best to endure it.
He placed his hands on his forehead to support them, and the runes under his palms began to turn crimson.
Ji Huaijin suddenly heard his younger brother's painful groans, and when he looked down, he realized that his brother seemed to be enduring something.
"What's wrong? Where does it hurt? Besides the scrape, is there anything else that's bothering you?"
"Huai Zhi?"
"Cherish him!"
Ji Huaizhi's hand fell down, and the rune on his forehead disappeared.
Ji Huaijin held his younger brother and found that he had suddenly lost consciousness.
"Please help me get my daughter into the car, my brother has fainted."
The scene was chaotic, and when the driver turned around, he found that the two children had fainted.
He felt he had reached the end of his life, so he took out his phone to call home, slapping his thigh as he spoke: "Wife? Let's get a divorce. You can have all the money and live a good life with the kids."
"Waaaaaah~"
The driver cried loudly: "Find someone who treats you well in the future, as long as they don't make our child suffer."
"I ran over and killed three people, three of them."
"I'm finished, I'm really finished."
Ji Shu had woken up in the hospital, but Ji Huaizhi had not yet woken up.
The doctor said the patient only had abrasions and no other external injuries were found, so they didn't know why the patient hadn't woken up.
Fearing there might be other problems, Ji Huaijin had the doctor give Huaizhi a comprehensive examination.
When Ji's mother and father arrived, they were covered in sweat, and their faces were pale with fright.
"What happened? What happened to Huaizhi?" Ji's mother asked, trembling.
Uncle Ji could no longer speak clearly.
Hearing her eldest son say that it was that woman who caused the trouble, she jumped up in anger: "What sins has our Ji family committed?"
"What kind of woman did you marry back then?" Ji's mother punched her eldest son, crying heartbreakingly, "You didn't tell me, and you almost ruined my granddaughter and son."
"Why wasn't it her who had the accident?"
Ji Huaijin remained silent, then slapped himself twice: "It's all my fault, I should have been more ruthless."
"Shushu shouldn't have met her. That big truck almost ran them over. If it weren't for Huaizhi, Shushu would have..."
A grown man was leaning against the wall, crying uncontrollably. Ji's father, unable to stand, sat down in a chair to calm himself down.
Neither of them noticed his unusual behavior.
Seeing her son like this, Ji's mother also felt distressed.
"Where's Shushu?" Ji's mother looked around.
"I'm worried because Huaizhi hasn't woken up while I'm resting in the ward."
When the doctor came over with the results, they all crowded around. When Ji's father saw this, he tried to get up, but he felt dizzy and sat back down.
"We've reviewed the test results. The patient has no other problems, and the carcinoembryonic markers in the blood are not high."
"If he's alright, why hasn't he woken up yet?" Mrs. Ji asked worriedly.
"The test report shows no problems, but a person can't stay unconscious like this forever. We will conduct further tests to see if there are any other issues."
Ji Huaijin nodded: "Thank you for your help, doctor."
"It's nothing." Just as the doctor was about to leave, he noticed that the middle-aged man behind them looked a little off.
"Is the person behind you with you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Only then did Ji's mother look over: "Old Ji, what's wrong with you?"
Father Ji's speech was somewhat slurred, and he pointed to his body: "I feel a little dizzy, and half of my body is numb."
"He was probably just too anxious and scared. He's fine."
He waved his hand, indicating that he was fine.
"Oh dear, why are there so many things to do?" Mrs. Ji tried to help him to his granddaughter's ward: "Go and rest for a bit, don't cause any more trouble."
The doctor, having seen many cases like this, stopped him, saying, "Wait, I think he should have a check-up."
Ji Huaijin looked up: "Doctor, do you think there's something wrong with my father?"
The doctor's expression was somewhat serious: "I can't be sure right now, but he definitely needs to have a test done."
Ji's mother was bewildered: "What examination? What's going on?"
Father Ji waved his hand: "It's nothing, I'm just getting old and anxious."
Ji Huaijin wouldn't listen to him, and asked the doctor, "Doctor, I'll listen to you. What kind of test do you want to do?"
"First, get an electrocardiogram (ECG), then get a brain MRI."
Ji Huaijin helped his father up: "Mom, you go to Shushu's ward first, it's right next door. I'll take Dad there first."
Mother Ji asked in alarm, "Are you alright?"
"What about Huaizhi here?"
"Go and bring Shushu over. I'll take Dad. Don't worry, everything will be alright," Ji Huaijin comforted her.
Ji's mother calmed herself down, knowing that being flustered wouldn't solve anything.
I went to the ward to see Shushu; she had already woken up.
"Grandma!" Ji Shu burst into tears.
She couldn't quite remember what had happened that afternoon, but she was really scared.
"Grandma, I'm scared. I want my uncle. I want my uncle." This was the first time Ji Shu had cried so hard.
The first thing I do when I open my eyes is look for Ji Huaizhi.
Mother Ji wiped away her tears and picked up the child: "Your uncle is still sleeping. We'll wait for him to wake up. My dear grandson, don't cry."
Ji Shu was held by her mother and cried sadly.
She didn't know why, she was just so sad.
"Is Uncle sick?" Ji Shu wiped away her grandmother's tears.
"Your uncle is asleep. Wait until he wakes up and let him play with you."
"What about Dad and Grandpa?"
Ji's mother, holding her child, sat on a bench in the corridor. Upon hearing her question, she couldn't help but cry.
The child felt insecure, and when he heard his grandmother crying, he became even more frightened and cried too.
However, she cried less loudly this time.
Ji Huaijin took his father to the hospital. After reviewing the electrocardiogram results, the doctor immediately admitted him to the hospital and told him that Ji's father had suffered a cerebral infarction.
Fortunately, it's the perfect time right now.
Upon hearing this, Ji Huaijin immediately asked for leave from his workplace.
Father Ji then panicked: "Am I seriously ill? If it is, then we should just give up and get treatment. Your younger brother is still so young."
"Dad, don't talk nonsense. The doctor said it's nothing serious. Listen to the doctor."
Ji Huaijin was about to go and complete the formalities: "The doctor said it was discovered early, so there won't be any problems. I'll go and complete the formalities for you first. Just listen to the doctor."
Seeing his father's expression, Ji Huaijin felt a pang of sadness.
He was the eldest son in the family, so he had to shoulder the responsibility.
He was worried about his younger brother and also wanted to hear from the doctor about his father's follow-up treatment and recovery.
The Ji family suddenly became incredibly busy.
Ji Huaijin found a male caregiver, which made things a little easier.
Ji Huaizhi has not yet woken up, and the doctors cannot find the cause. The longer this continues, the more dangerous it will become.
Ji Huaijin is already considering transferring his younger brother to another hospital.
