Chapter 26 The Laziest Man in the Countryside
Wang Zhi sneered as he watched his retreating figure.
Even though he has taken over his mentor's position, he is not doing very well.
Thinking about the mess Huang Jie had made for him, and the pressure from the Li family, he felt a headache coming on.
These people kept pressing him, and it's not his style to not fight back. I wonder how Pearl is doing in the countryside.
They've recognized each other now, haven't they?
Huang Jie went to see Uncle Li.
They inquired about Li Decai and his wife's situation, and he told them the truth.
Then Uncle Li asked about Pearl's husband and in-laws.
“I’ve met them. They are simple, hospitable, and their family is very united. They’re a good family.” Huang Jie said frankly, “At that time, my master also received care from the village secretary, but his family did not know about the relationship between Pearl and my master and his wife.”
The uncle and aunt exchanged a glance: "Won't that give us away? Xianglan and her daughter Zhenzhu look quite alike."
Huang Jie shook his head: "Master and his wife are very different now than before, I can't tell."
Uncle Li immediately understood what he meant. They were not doing well, so they couldn't tell that they were related to the young Pearl.
“My younger brother used to be so proud and arrogant, I don’t know if he can handle this change in status.”
Huang Jie: "It's not bad so far, after all, Pearl and her husband are taking care of him. Now he is a barefoot doctor in the area, and the local people are very protective of him."
Both of them breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this.
This is already good news.
“When I think about Pearl’s spoiled nature marrying a countryman, I feel a little uncomfortable, but he doesn’t mind her background, and his family seems kind, so I think it’s another kind of blessing,” the aunt said to her husband.
Huang Jie thought of the man and said, "Huaizhi is also a good person. You should like him when you meet him."
Uncle: "Oh, you have a pretty high opinion of their family."
"I don't know if we'll ever see her again," Auntie worried. "What if Pearl's true identity is exposed, and her family stops liking her?"
People at that time were very concerned about ingredients.
We're so far away, I can't be of much help.
“That’s why I came.” Huang Jie thought of what Wang Zhi had said that day: “Wang Zhi knew that Pearl had gone to the countryside, and he even asked me about it.”
"Knowing him as I do, he's definitely up to something again."
The uncle's eyes darkened: "It seems that the lesson I taught him was not enough. I originally planned to slowly cut him to pieces and kill him, but I didn't expect him to still want to cause trouble."

While Ji Huaizhi was busy at the hospital pharmacy that day, Ji Tao and Ji Mei rushed to the hospital anxiously.
"Uncle, a lot of people wearing red armbands have come to the house. They want to take Auntie away," Ji Tao whispered to Ji Huaizhi.
This is what my grandma taught me; she said we shouldn't let anyone else hear it.
Ji Huaizhi frowned upon hearing this: "How did you get here?"
"We rode on a tractor," the two said in unison.
Ji Huaizhi led the two of them to the spot where the tractor was parked, but the person was not there. Ji Huaizhi left a note for the people next to him, asking them to pass on a message to the tractor driver in the village.
He started the tractor himself and drove it back.
Ji Tao and Ji Mei were surprised: "Uncle, you can actually drive a tractor."
"Of course, there's nothing your uncle can't do."
The tractor bumped along the way back, and the cold wind on my face had made me numb.
When they arrived home, they found that none of the villagers had gone to work; instead, they had gathered around the Ji family's house, and there were shouts from Ji Hong and Li Decai.
Ji Huaizhi parked the tractor, told the two children to stay there and not to squeeze in front, and then jumped off the tractor and went forward.
Someone called out that Ji Huaizhi was back and made way for him.
His three brothers were all injured. Wang Xiuju and Sister-in-law Ji stood with their hands on their hips, cursing loudly. Ji Hong's pipe, which he always carried, had fallen somewhere. His face was serious but somewhat disheveled.
Li Decai and He Xianglan were held aside, with tears still on He Xianglan's face.
They didn't see Pearl; they should have let her hide.
The Red Guards were vandalizing the house, but most of the villagers stopped them, forming a human wall.
However, someone climbed over the wall into the courtyard and seemed to have captured Li Zhenzhu. The sound of women cursing could be heard inside.
"So you're Ji Huaizhi?" The speaker was the former captain of the Red Guard, looking at him arrogantly. "Do you even know your wife's background?"
Ji Huaizhi didn't say a word, but kicked him away: "Once you marry me, you're part of my family!"
"You bastards dare to come to my house and try to take someone away? I'll fucking kill you!"
"Whoa!" Everyone exclaimed in surprise, not expecting that Ji Huaizhi had kicked the person away.
There was a pregnant woman with a big belly inside. Ji Huaizhi rushed in and pulled the woman out first.
"Now that she's married to me, if you dare to take her away, you'll have to give me a wife in return. How hard is it to find a wife these days?" As he spoke, he gripped the man's neck tightly: "Either you give me a wife, or you get out of here!"
Just as the man was about to run out of breath, Ji Hong called out to him.
"Don't make mistakes!"
"I know," Ji Huaizhi said calmly. "Don't you people ever learn your lesson? You've finished your work at the office so quickly?"
The Red Guard captain stood up, clutching his stomach, and said with difficulty, "Was it you who reported us before?"
"That's right, I have more than just one piece of dirt on you!"
The group looked rather grim. The people in their group had already been replaced, and none of them had clean hands. They had embezzled what they could when they raided other people's properties, but no one dared to report them. They never expected to almost be caught off guard.
Some people have already been sent down to farms.
Ji Huaizhi glanced at the people around him, realizing they couldn't just leave like that.
"Give them a beating, and I'll give you five dollars later!"
Five yuan! They came to help, but Ji Huaizhi wanted to give them five yuan. Everyone was instantly excited.
They went straight up and beat up the Red Guards.
"Where are we going to find so many five-yuan notes? You spendthrift!" Wang Xiuju slapped Ji Huaizhi. "Are you out of your mind?"
Ji Hong's expression was also: "What were you doing outside? And giving each person five yuan?"
Ji Huaizhi: "I don't have it, but they do."
"They can give it to me?" Wang Xiuju asked in surprise.
These people were beaten and cried out in pain. They thought they could teach this man a good lesson, but they didn't expect that one sentence from him would drive the villagers crazy.
They felt like their internal organs were about to be ripped out. Were these people suicidal?
"Please, please stop hitting them!"
"No! I was wrong!"
