Chapter 78 The Real World

Bei Yutang raised her eyebrows slightly. She clearly wanted to eat it, so why did she not want it anymore?

"What's wrong?"

Xiao Zimo shook his head, "It's too expensive."

Little Zimo knew that his mother only had a dozen copper coins in her pocket, and he was reluctant to give them away.

Bei Yutang touched the copper coins in his pocket. It was indeed not much, and he was a little stretched. Spending one or two copper coins would not make much difference.

Bei Yutang took a little tiger from the shelf and handed it to Xiao Zimo, "How about this one?"

"Mother."

Boy Mo looked at him blankly.

Bei Yutang took out two cents and handed it to the vendor.

"Let's go." Bei Yutang walked away holding Xiao Zimo's hand.

Xiao Zimo felt a sense of unreality when holding the sugar man.

He had imagined countless times that his mother would buy him delicious food, and now it really happened. This feeling made him feel sweet inside.

He couldn't help but secretly glance at Bei Yutang.

My mother nowadays is so nice.

The two of them went straight to the rice shop. Here, rice was eight cents a pound, white flour was six cents a pound, millet was three cents a pound, and the cheapest was a kind of brown rice, which was one cent a pound.

Brown rice is actually not rice, but something similar to grain husks. This kind of rice is fed to livestock. Only poor families who can't even afford to cook at home will eat this stuff.

If you eat too much of this stuff, you may get constipation and vaginal bleeding.

As far as I can remember, Xiao Zimo often ate brown rice, and on several occasions, he had diarrhea that bled and was in so much pain that he nearly died. Mu Zhitao, that woman, ignored him completely and left him to fend for himself.

Fortunately, the boy Mo Fu was lucky enough not to be tortured to death by that woman Mu Zhitao.

No matter how cheap the brown rice is or how poor she is, she would never buy it for the two of them to suffer.

Eighteen cents, minus the two cents for Xiao Zimo's sugar man, there are still sixteen cents left.

Rice is too expensive; I only need to buy two pounds before it's all gone. Flour is also expensive, but it's better than rice.

Bei Yutang felt the copper coins in his pocket and bought four catties of millet, spending twelve coins, leaving him with four coins left. With food, he needed vegetables, so he bought some cabbage.

Cabbages were very cheap, two for one cent. Bei Yutang bought four and used the remaining two cents to buy salt.

Now I am penniless.

"Look at him, his clothes are so tattered."

"My servants wear better clothes than this."

As Xiao Zimo was eating his candy, he heard two elegantly dressed little boys pointing and talking at him. Xiao Zimo looked towards them, and the two little boys glared back at him.

"What are you looking at, you stinky beggar?"

"Let's stay away from him. I heard from the servants that poor beggars like these are very dirty and have fleas and bugs."

Xiao Zimo looked at his clothes, which were full of patches, but he was not a beggar.

"I'm not a beggar."

When the two little boys saw that he dared to talk back to them, they immediately refused to do it.

"Look at the clothes you're wearing, you look like a beggar."

"I'm not."

"Go away, you stinky beggar." One of the little boys walked up and pushed Xiao Zimo down.

Xiao Zimo was caught off guard and was pushed to the ground.

Bei Yutang heard the noise and came out of the salt shop, only to see Xiao Zimo lying on the ground with two little boys in front of him.

You can tell what happened at a glance.

"What are you doing?" Bei Yutang shouted.

When the two little boys saw the adults appear, they turned around and ran away.

Bei Yutang quickly squatted down and helped the little boy up from the ground. "Are you hurt? Where did you fall and hurt?"

Faced with her concerned questioning, Xiao Zimo shook his head blankly.

"No."

After looking him up and down, Bei Yutang felt relieved to see that he was fine.

"Mo'er, what happened just now?"

Little Zimo didn't dare to hide anything and replied frankly, "They said I was a beggar, but I said no. One of them came up and pushed me."

As he spoke, Xiao Zimo lowered his head as low as he could.

Will mother be angry?

Little Zimo was already prepared to be punished by his mother.
