Indeed, in the eyes of all the students, only the girls from Class 2 of Senior High lost this game. When their classmates were openly bullied, they all just stood by and watched. They weren't even as good as Rosie and her friends who were bullying them; at least Rosie's bullying was a united effort from the whole class, and even when Rosie was beaten up, they didn't call for a stop. That kind of spirit is worthy of respect.
Xu Keke circled the volleyball net, while Luo Xi pretended to squat down to tie her shoelaces. It was better to keep her head down and do something than to look up and be laughed at.
Xu Keke admitted that she did it on purpose. Rosie was taller than her, and if Rosie were standing, Xu Keke would never have come to her. By crouching while she was standing, Xu Keke hadn't lost in terms of presence.
"I don't care why you're bothering me, just bring it on. Don't try to sound noble. Why would anyone bother with you?" Xu Keke glanced at the PE teacher standing to the side, her eyes making it all too clear: I'm talking about you.
"That's because they're willing, but it doesn't mean everyone wants to coax you into playing around and let you bully them."
Xu Keke turned around, lifted her foot, and saw that Rosie's white shoelaces were already dirty.
Rosie got up and lunged at Xu Keke. Her shadow on the ground revealed her entire movement to Xu Keke.
The biggest advantage of being petite is speed. Xu Keke easily pinned Luo Xi to the ground after dodging to the side. Everything Xu Keke did was intentional. To provoke her, to subdue her by taking advantage of the situation. This was one of only two opportunities to not lose to her in terms of momentum.
Rosie wouldn't let things go. Rather than being ganged up on again, she might as well press her advantage and use her to intimidate the others. Besides, she always believed in kicking someone when they're down.
If Xu Keke had hit her first, in front of so many people, she wouldn't have been in the right. Now, Luo Xi brought it on herself, so she can't be blamed.
Everyone, including the PE teacher, swarmed over.
"Hey, you from Class 2 or 3, what's your name? Let Rosie go first."
Xu Keke, holding Luo Xi down, turned to look at the PE teacher. "Teacher, it's not that I don't want to let go, it's that I'm afraid she'll hit me again if I let go."
The PE teacher sighed, "No, Rosie won't do that."
"I don't believe it. I want her to tell me herself." Xu Keke revealed a firm expression at the right time, making others believe that she was a very stubborn and difficult person to talk to.
The PE teacher was getting annoyed. He tried to pull the two apart, but Rosie was pinned down. The girl's glance earlier was practically an admission that he was covering for her; if he made another move, she'd definitely say something hurtful. He didn't know what would happen next, so he had to remain neutral to avoid being accused of favoring Rosie.
"Rosie, tell her you won't hit her," the PE teacher could only advise Rosie.
Rosie wouldn't back down; she gritted her teeth and refused to budge. Xu Keke, pressing her down, laughed.
"How does it feel to be bullied? You brought this on yourself. Remember, stop bullying others. If you're so capable, don't act tough at school. Showing off to these students doesn't make you any better. Everyone comes to school to learn, not to act like the old society, trying to be a kingpin or form cliques. These students aren't your underlings. And you're not some old-fashioned thug. Where there is oppression, there is resistance. Standing against the people is a dead end for you."
After reciting all the words she could remember, Xu Keke let go of his hand and stood up. The PE teacher, who hadn't had a good rest, looked even paler now. This matter had to be calmed down. Otherwise, if these words got out, the consequences would be severe.
"Everyone, assemble!" The PE teacher took out a whistle from his pocket and blew it a few times, gathering everyone together.
“Rosie bullied her classmates today by playing volleyball, which is wrong,”
The sports representative from Class 1-2 of the first year of high school called Gao Jiale to the playground. Seeing that he still hadn't been brought under control, they went to call the teacher. The physical education teacher thought that the sports representative and Luo Xi were in the same class, and he knew that the students in Class 1-2 were usually quite close-knit. He never expected the sports representative to exaggerate.
So the PE teacher always thought that Luo Xi had angered Xu Keke, which was why Xu Keke treated her that way. He didn't know that Xu Keke had actually dodged everything, and Luo Xi was the one who didn't gain any advantage.
The PE teacher thought that although Xu Keke's tackle had an element of humiliation, Rosie had overall gained the upper hand, so a little punishment wouldn't be a big deal. The teacher was even worried that Rosie might feel embarrassed running alone, so he called a few more allies for her.
"The sports representatives and class monitors of all three classes, you have all failed to perform your duties well. You are hereby punished to run laps around the playground with Rosie."
These students weren't particularly afraid of this teacher to begin with, and after what had just happened—everyone had seen the way Xu Keke looked at the teacher—the sports representatives and class monitors from these classes all became anxious.
"Teacher, this is not fair. When you left, you told us to listen to Rosie. She bullies her classmates, so why should we be punished along with her?"
"Yes, teacher, we disagree."
Before the PE teacher could figure out what to do, Rosie ran out of the line. Everyone was shocked, thinking she was going to run laps to be punished, but she ran straight into the school building.
The person left... The PE teacher was furious. This was incredibly disrespectful. If he didn't know who Rosie's father was, he wouldn't have gone along with her so much. He'd fulfilled almost every request she made, and yet she didn't give him any face at all.
This PE teacher is only in his early thirties; he's not exactly young and lacking in spirit. Besides, even Rosie's father might not know who he is. Right now, the PE teacher has even more of a problem with Rosie than with Xu Keke.
Seeing that Rosie had run away, the others stopped arguing.
"Teacher, get out of class is over. The bell will ring soon, and we need to go back to the classroom to get our things," Gao Jiaqing said lazily from the line.
The PE teacher and Gao Jiale, who was in the group, exchanged a two-second glance on this step that wasn't really a step. The teacher cursed inwardly, "These students are too difficult to manage." The teacher casually waved his hand, "Alright, class dismissed."
The three classes scattered in an instant, all running towards the teaching building.
"Meng Dong, I'll be waiting for you downstairs in a bit," Gao Lan called out happily to Xu Keke.
Xu Keke smiled as she walked at a leisurely pace. She knew this girl was waiting downstairs every day, and there was no need to say anything more; she was just doing it on purpose, afraid people wouldn't notice her. Xu Keke waved to Gao Lan, who was running ahead and had turned back to look at her.
Her deskmate, Li Wenxiu, stood beside her and said, "Meng Dong, let's walk together after school."
Xu Keke glanced to the side and was startled. What was going on? All the girls in the class were following behind her at the same leisurely pace as her. Xu Keke smiled; she understood what they meant. However, she wasn't a child and wouldn't force others to treat her that way. So she didn't care about what had just happened.
Xu Keke smiled at them, "Hurry up, if the bell rings soon, it'll be a waste that we got out of class so early. The younger students will definitely block the stairs again. Hurry up."
Xu Keke smiled brightly at them and rushed out first.
