Feeling incredibly lucky today, the black spider excitedly bounced around on its web. It felt amazing to have such a delicious dessert delivered to its doorstep right after finishing its main meal!
Honestly, those cockroaches were absolutely disgusting. If it weren't for needing to fill its stomach, it wouldn't have eaten that awful thing, and it even wasted a human leg.
Before Black Spider could make a move, Xia Linyin quickly shouted, "Hey! Want to make a bet with me?"
The black spider made a sound, and Xia Linyin, pretending to understand, shook the dice cup. Her shaking technique was becoming more and more skillful.
She currently has ten dice, each one extremely precious to her. If one explodes, she'll have one less. The best way to defeat her opponent is to use the fewest dice possible.
However, besides the opponent's strength, there is also a certain element of luck involved.
The lid was opened, the dice shattered, Xia Linyin took out a second die, kissed it, put it back in, closed the lid, and shook it.
With a "bang," the black spider's huge head exploded, and yellow-green brain matter splattered everywhere, covering Xia Linyin's body.
The black spider writhed in agony. Just as the black spider's head exploded, Xia Linyin, who had been crouching on the ground clutching her head, stood up, put away the black dice cup, took out her crescent blade, and charged towards the black spider.
The sharp blade sliced through the black spider's body, tearing open a huge gash. The cockroach that the black spider had just swallowed and hadn't had time to digest fell out, its mushy body covered in sticky fluid.
The limbs were still moving, dragging the mutilated body out of the disgusting slime.
As expected of an unkillable cockroach, it was still alive even after all that. Xia Linyin stared in amazement at the crawling cockroach legs.
Once the black spider stopped moving and its vital signs had completely disappeared, Xia Linyin stepped forward and chopped off eight of its legs.
Xia Linyin pushed all the spider legs aside and looked at them with a headache. They were so difficult to carry, and it was impossible to grab them by hand. The dense, coarse hairs made it impossible to even touch them.
We need to find a rope to string them all together and drag them toward the electric hovercraft.
Xia Linyin looked at the spider silk and slightly curled the corners of her lips.
"I should have known better than to park so far away!"
Sweating profusely, Xia Linyin dragged her eight spider legs toward the hovercar. Although these spider legs were so heavy they made her want to cry, Xia Linyin couldn't bear to throw any of them away. The heavier they were, the more flesh they had, which was a bittersweet conclusion.
Finally inside the hovercar, Xia Linyin slumped into the driver's seat and gripped the control lever.
She returned to her and Li Luo's place without any problems and parked the car in a secluded spot.
Back in the cave, Xia Linyin glanced at Li Hou and then began searching for tools inside.
The water was collected from rainwater. The homemade, simple water purification device was placed in a small bucket, which contained only about one-third of the water.
She didn't know how many days' worth of water it was. If they ran out, they wouldn't be able to find water for the rest of the days, and she and Li Luo would die of thirst.
"Master, you can use it without worry. I detected that it will rain tomorrow."
"Thank you, number 83."
Without Number 83, her life in the apocalypse would undoubtedly have been many times more difficult.
Xia Linyin returned to the hovercar, put the tools aside, and began to process several spider legs inside the vehicle.
Sitting on the ground, Xia Linyin used her crescent blade to shave the hair off the spider's legs. Halfway through, she couldn't help but shake her head and chuckle. The precious blade that Li Luo had given her, which could cut iron like mud, was now being used as a razor.
With deft movements, Xia Linyin shaved the hair off the spider's legs, split open the shell, and took out the spider leg meat inside.
A wooden frame was erected, and an iron bucket filled with water was hung in the center of the frame, with a worn-out metal container below it.
After throwing the giant tooth beast's dung into the container, Xia Linyin lit it with a flint and steel.
Once the water started bubbling and boiling, they put the spider leg meat in.
Steam rises, and the aroma of meat fills the air.
The expensive electric hovercar was thus used by Xia Linyin as a kitchen for cooking meat.
If possible, Xia Linyin wouldn't want to cook meat in the hovercar, but this way, the aroma of the meat wouldn't spread and attract other predators.
After extinguishing the fire and suppressing her strong urge to eat, Xia Linyin carried a full bucket of meat soup back to the cave.
Li Luo was indeed extremely hungry. Smelling the aroma of the meat soup, she groggily opened her eyes.
Xia Linyin quickly helped him up and brought the meat soup to his lips, saying, "I cooked some meat, eat it quickly."
Li Luo struggled to look away from the broth and asked Xia Linyin, "What kind of meat is this?"
"Spider meat. I was lucky. I came across an injured black spider. It was probably bitten by some other insect or beast. I killed the badly injured black spider without much effort."
"Drink up, don't worry, it's not flesh cut from my body, I won't be as stupid as you."
Li Luo reached out and touched her body. "Are you hurt?"
"No, oh dear, let's drink together!" Xia Linyin's mouth was already overflowing with saliva. She couldn't help but take a sip of the meat soup and then brought the bucket to Li Luo's lips.
The two of them took a sip each, and before long, the broth was gone.
With a warm piece of spider leg meat in her mouth, Xia Linyin's eyes filled with tears, and she choked out, "I never realized that eating could be such a blissful thing."
Li Luo opened his arms and hugged Xia Linyin. Xia Linyin touched the protruding shoulder blades on his back and felt a pang of heartache.
I really want to bring him back to the real world, back to that normal world.
She didn't know if it was Li Luo's attitude that made her feel insecure, or it was because of what Su Jinyan said before she left. Ever since she entered this game, her heart had never been at peace.
Xia Linyin hugged him tightly, "Li Luo..."
"Shh—" Li Luo whispered, "It's getting dark, those things are about to start moving."
As Li Luo spoke, the warm atmosphere vanished completely.
Xia Linyin paused for a moment, then realized that Li Luo was referring to the infiltrators, and nodded.
Li Luo rolled off the bed, crawled under the bed, opened the floorboards, and then softly called out, "Sister."
Xia Linyin followed him inside. Li Luo had even dug a hole under the bed, just big enough for two people to hide in.
As time passed, Xia Linyin fell asleep nestled in Li Luo's arms, until the noise from outside woke her up.
A ping-pong sound came from above, as if something was rummaging through drawers and cabinets.
Xia Linyin slowed her breathing as Scan 83 scanned the view above her head.
Several lurking creatures lay on the bed, sniffing around. They jumped off the bed and pressed their ears to the ground.
