These infiltrators were completely bald, without a single hair, like bald rats, with their eyelids fused together.
Their noses looked as if they had been cut off, leaving only two very small nostrils. Their spines protruded and curved into a line, making them look extremely ugly.
A lurker crawled under the bed. Xia Linyin covered her mouth. The lurker stayed under the bed for a while before finally leaving.
The other infiltrators who had gained nothing also left the cave one after another.
Xia Linyin breathed a sigh of relief. Li Luo did not wake up and seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep again.
The next day, a torrential downpour began, and the sky was covered with dark, heavy clouds, making it hard to breathe.
Xia Linyin filled several buckets with rainwater. The cave was damp, with rain dripping down. The water on the ground was already above her calves.
Outside, lightning flashed and thunder roared, and the water was getting deeper and deeper. Xia Linyin carried Li Luo out of the cave and into the hovercar.
Each time the hovercar's door is opened, it consumes 3% of No. 83's energy.
Without solar energy, satellite number 83 now has only 41% of its energy remaining.
Li Luo did not wake up and continued to run a high fever. The rain worsened the infection in his wound.
As the heavy rain washed over the car windows, they became increasingly clean, and Xia Linyin looked out through the glass.
Lightning bolts darted through the churning black clouds, accompanied by deafening thunder. Lightning struck tall buildings, and large rocks crashed down, splashing water several meters high.
The rain poured down for a day and a night, especially at night when the sky was terrifying. Xia Linyin held Li Luo tightly as they endured their first rainy day in the apocalypse.
As the sun pierced through the clouds, the sky began to clear, and the rare azure blue filled everyone with excitement.
"So, even in the apocalypse, there are beautiful moments."
Xia Linyin jumped off the hovercar, glanced back at Li Luo inside, and then strode forward.
Number 83 detected a praying mantis foraging nearby. Once her injuries have almost healed, she will set off for the robot's central base, and she must store enough food along the way.
She didn't want to go through that feeling of being starving to death again.
A mantis, seven or eight meters long, darted through the ruins. It pried open the stones, its sickle-shaped forelimbs covered with serrated edges reaching under the stones, and pulled out a corpse from beneath them.
The mantis put the corpse into its mouth and began to chew. Compared to the black spider, its eating movements were much more elegant.
Suddenly, the mantis turned its head 180 degrees and looked behind it.
Xia Linyin quickly lowered her head. The sound of flapping wings came closer and closer. Xia Linyin knew that the mantis had discovered her, so she stopped hiding and jumped out from behind the rock, holding her crescent blade.
The mantis has a smooth body shape and a pleasing bluish-green color. A pair of protruding black eyes are set on its huge, inverted triangular head.
Its hard forelimbs gleamed coldly, letting people know that it was definitely not a creature to be trifled with.
The praying mantis swung its forelegs and flew towards Xia Linyin.
With a flick of her wrist, Xia Linyin unleashed a crescent-shaped blade, the blade colliding with her forelimb with a clanging sound.
Having missed its target, the mantis let out an angry cry. How dare such a weak prey resist it!
The praying mantis swung its forelegs with lightning speed, effortlessly slicing away at a boulder weighing hundreds of kilograms as if cutting tofu, leaving a smooth and clean cut.
The red light swirled in Xia Linyin's high heels as she teleported rapidly. With a leap, she floated past the mantis.
She leaped up and landed on the mantis's back, knife tip pointing downwards. Just as Xia Linyin was about to stab the mantis in the body, the mantis, its head turned to the back, suddenly opened its mouth and shot out something like a whip.
Although Xia Linyin reacted extremely quickly and dodged, at such close range, she still couldn't avoid being grazed on the shoulder by that thing, and a burning pain came from the wound.
Xia Linyin rolled off the mantis's body, moved backward, and floated dozens of meters away before taking out the dice cup.
“Master, I suggest you don’t use the head-bursting dice cup. This mantis is stronger than the giant black spider. You’ll have to use at least two dice. Besides, the mantis’s head is edible. In the apocalypse, every bit of food is precious.”
As Number 83 was speaking, the praying mantis rushed over, its forelegs lashing out at Xia Linyin.
Xia Linyin dodged, and the mantis's forelegs sliced into the ground, leaving a deep crack.
"I can electrocute it with five percent of my energy. This is the best plan for this operation. Would you like to adopt it, Master?"
"agree!"
When the crescent blade collided with the mantis's forelegs once more, a surge of electricity coursed through the blade and into the mantis.
The mantis shuddered and convulsed before collapsing to the ground.
Xia Linyin dragged the mantis's corpse back.
"boom--"
"boom--"
"What's that sound?" Xia Linyin was startled and looked around warily.
"Master, quick! Hide the mantis! There's no time! You hide first!"
Xia Linyin glanced around and then hid inside a round silo covered in green moss.
Several oddly shaped cars drove by, spewing thick exhaust fumes. The cars were covered with thick steel needles, with bloody intestines stuck in them, and the wheels were covered with nauseating filth.
After speeding past the mantis corpse, the car turned back, circled the corpse once, and then several cars stopped next to it.
A group of strong, muscular men got out of the car. Their faces and necks were covered with strange tattoos, like characters drawn on their faces.
