Tears welled up in the woman's eyes, and her body trembled like a leaf in the wind. Her voice trembled as she said, "Driver, I want to get off, I want to get off..."
The driver stared blankly ahead, ignoring her.
"There's a ghost! There's a ghost in this car!" The woman screamed as the woman in white looked over. She frantically pounded on the car door, "I want to get off! I want to get off! Open the door! Open the door!"
"Damn it! Why are there so many lunatics tonight!" The middle-aged woman stood up and yelled, "Shut up! If you say another word, believe me, I'll cut your tongue out!"
The woman fell silent in fright. At that moment, the driver suddenly turned to look at her and said expressionlessly, "I won't stop until we reach our destination."
It sounded like a corpse opening and closing its mouth, uttering monotone sounds. Looking at the driver's deadpan face, the woman's eyes widened in terror, and she stumbled and ran towards the back of the bus.
Among these people, the man sitting in the last row looked the most normal. The woman ran to the last row and was about to sit next to the man when...
The man suddenly moved. He turned around, leaned against the window, and put his legs up on the seat, his long and straight legs taking up several seats.
Although he was still looking down, and the shadow cast by the brim of his hat obscured his face, the angle from which his face was turned to the side allowed people to clearly see the smooth and beautiful curve of his jaw.
"Hello, I want to sit here, please let me sit here? Please, there are ghosts on this bus, there are ghosts! I'm not lying to you, it's true!"
Seeing that the man remained unmoved, the woman bit her lip. She wanted to reach out and push him, but for some reason she didn't dare to. In the end, she sat down in the seat in front of him.
Then a boy got on the bus. He was wearing thick black-rimmed glasses, his hair was greasy as if he hadn't washed it for days, and his face was covered in acne. He was holding a little girl in a princess dress in his arms.
The little girl wearing a top hat lay motionless on his shoulder, seemingly asleep.
The boy sat in the first row of the back seats, by the window, with the little girl sitting next to him.
As he put the little girl down, he noticed the schoolgirl hiding behind the seat and couldn't help but ask, "Hey girl, what are you doing hiding here?"
Upon hearing the boy's words, the woman, who was sobbing softly, froze and looked down at the ground. She hadn't expected that someone was hiding there.
"There's a ghost." The girl hugged herself tightly.
"Girl, have you been watching too many horror movies?"
"Really, there are ghosts."
"Yeah, really." The boy suddenly nodded, and as the girl looked up at him with wide eyes, he made a face and said in a low voice, "I am a ghost..."
The girl screamed "Ah!" and the boy laughed triumphantly.
"Coward." The boy stopped looking at the girl, turned back, touched the little girl next to him, and then put his earphones in his ears.
Xia Linyin suddenly stood up and walked towards the girl.
Looking at the bare, white feet that appeared in front of her, the girl's lips trembled. She slowly raised her head, her gaze moving upwards until it finally landed on Xia Linyin's face. Was the ghost about to make its move?
Before the girl could scream, Xia Linyin quickly covered her mouth, "Shh—"
Accompanied by the sound of dripping water and the smell of urine, Xia Linyin looked at the girl's school uniform skirt, which was wet in one spot, and twitched her lips. How scary was she? The girl was so scared that she peed herself.
"Don't be afraid, I'm a player just like you," Xia Linyin said softly.
The girl stared intently at Xia Linyin, seemingly unable to process what was happening for a moment.
"Do you know which bus number this is?" Xia Linyin asked, slowly releasing her hand from the girl's mouth.
“4, 4, 4, 4…” the girl said haltingly, her upper and lower teeth chattering.
“That’s right. Isn’t your mission also to ‘find the ghost on the bus and eliminate it’?” Xia Linyin asked softly.
The girl, whose mind had been reeling from the shock, finally came to her senses. She excitedly grabbed Xia Linyin's arm, laughing and crying at the same time, "You...you're a player too? That's great! That's great! Do you know what happened? I woke up here, and I don't want to play this horror game. I'm so scared! I'm so afraid! I want to go home..."
Despite the pain from the girl's grip on her arm, Xia Linyin patted her shoulder to comfort her, saying, "I was just like you, inexplicably thrown into this game, and I'm just as scared."
"Are you scared too?" The girl stared blankly at Xia Linyin. "But I can't tell at all."
Xia Linyin gave a bitter smile and did not answer. How could she not be afraid?
The girl lowered her head, blushed, and said, "You're so amazing."
"You're players too?" The woman in the suit lunged at Xia Linyin, her swollen, tear-filled eyes gleaming with wild joy. "I thought I was the only unlucky one who got dragged into this, but I didn't expect there were others. Do you know how to get out? I don't want to stay here anymore!"
The woman suddenly started groping Xia Linyin's body. "You're so calm, do you have some kind of magic weapon on you? Do you? Take it out quickly, take it out!"
Xia Linyin got goosebumps from the woman's touch and frowned, saying, "I don't have any magic weapons."
"I don't believe you! You definitely have it!" the woman screamed, snatched Xia Linyin's backpack, opened it, and roughly emptied out its contents.
Staring at the pile of cosmetics, the woman murmured absentmindedly, "How could they be missing?"
Suddenly, she grabbed Xia Linyin's shoulders and shook her, "Where did you hide it? We're all in the same boat now, can't you stop being so selfish! If you have something precious, you should take it out!"
"I've already said I didn't! I only have this little bit on me, where could I hide it?" Xia Linyin's voice was filled with suppressed anger. She was almost nauseated by this woman's shaking, and she felt disgusted by the woman's words, as if she had swallowed fly excrement.
"What are you doing?" The boy took off his headphones and turned to look at the three people squatting on the ground with a puzzled expression.
Seeing that the three of them were just staring at him without saying anything, the boy didn't seem to care. Suddenly, he asked with curiosity and excitement, "I heard you guys talking about some game and some players. What game are you playing? It sounds pretty fun. Can you recommend one to me?"
