Ryan stood next to He Xueqing, holding a microphone in his hand.
The lights were shining on him, making him look like a dazzling superstar.
“A wonderful performance,” Ryan said, circling around He Xueqing. “Let us thank He Xueqing, the original owner of the Qingshan Middle School copy.”
“And…” he stomped his foot on the ground, “these heroes.”
As the first half ended, these brave warriors were naturally taken off the field, leaving only the ground still stained with blood.
"The second half of the game begins."
Cen Yu watched as Ryan clapped his hands, seemingly telling the VIP audience that the second half of the game they had been waiting for was about to begin.
However, Ryan quickly showed a puzzled expression.
They seemed to be wondering why no athletes were coming onto the stage with the rising platform.
He took out something that looked like a button. "Is the elevator broken?" he muttered, touching his headphones. This was all transmitted to the audience in the VIP box through the large screen broadcasting the live stream.
"Wait a moment." Ryan raised his hands.
He pressed the remote control in his hand with exaggerated movements.
Soon, everyone heard a click, as if to tell them that the broken elevator had been repaired.
Ryan simply stretched his hand out of the cage and threw the remote control out... The ring was suspended in mid-air, with countless seats below.
Because there were no ordinary spectators, these seats were completely dark.
The remote control wouldn't make a sound when it fell... it's too light and too small.
Soon, a series of clicking sounds came from the camera.
It was clearly not a sound that could come from a lift platform; the sound seemed to come from the earth's rumble—a huge sound, accompanied by a piece of rubble falling onto the masked man.
He reached out his gloved hand and caught the fragment.
He subconsciously looked up, glancing at the top of the tower—
Boom!
On the big screen, the moment the masked man looked up and the entire tower collapsed was almost instantaneous.
Cen Yu only saw countless pebbles falling from the sky, and then the big screen went completely black, clearly having lost all its function.
The arena battles inside the tower were held at the bottom level. The collapse of such a high underground structure would likely cause a chain reaction in the surrounding area... and all the nobles in the private boxes would probably be dead.
With the signal cut off, Cen Yu guessed that Ryan was probably not alive. As for He Xueqing—that thing wasn't human at all, and could go wherever it wanted.
They probably never expected that such a magnificent underground fortress would collapse in an instant.
He Yuxing was still somewhat stunned as she stared at the black screen.
Cen Yu went over to look at Qiao's body, and after stabbing him a few more times, he said to He Yuxing, "I knew it wasn't an auspicious name."
The man-made underground Tower of Babel eventually collapsed, burying the nobles of the district who thought themselves superior to everyone else.
...
As Cen Yu was about to leave the top floor, the system told him that there was another life form on the top floor.
“This doesn’t seem to match the number of people Lu Zhan mentioned,” Cen Yu said.
He specifically counted the number of people to confirm that they hadn't let a single one escape.
The system was also somewhat difficult to explain, only saying that Cen Yu would understand once he saw it.
So Cen Yu led the way and went with He Yuxing to the place the system had mentioned.
That's located above the top floor, somewhere between a mezzanine and an attic.
They climbed up the escalator, and the first thing they saw was countless power lines. Following these lines... Cen Yu saw a head that had been peeled open.
It was a man immersed in some kind of translucent liquid.
His eyes were closed, his head was opened, and countless threads connected him to the jar that was soaking him, like a brain in a vat from a science fiction movie.
Just as He Yuxing was about to tell Cen Yu not to suddenly approach that thing, Cen Yu waved his hand and walked straight to the brain.
"A prophet?" Cen Yu recalled Jiang Min's words, looking at the head that was being submerged in the jar.
Unexpectedly, the other person opened their eyes—their eyes were blue, and they looked at Cen Yu.
The prophet was soaking in the solution. Cen Yu couldn't actually tell if he was crying, but for some reason, Cen Yu knew that this "prophet" was probably crying.
"Are they so confident because of him?" Cen Yu asked the system.
The system doesn't know.
All the nobles in District One were dead and unable to answer Cen Yu's question.
Cen Yu looked at those things that resembled electrical wires. These coiled wires extended from the top of the can to various parts of the ground, like blood vessels, burying themselves into the foundation of the building.
The entire building in Zone 1 resembled his body; these lines were both nerves and blood vessels, forming the image of the "Prophet" many years after the apocalypse.
Standing in front of the transparent jar, Cen Yu didn't quite understand why the prophet Jiang Min had described, who foresaw the end of the world, had become the image of a brain in a jar—if he could see the future, why couldn't he see his own destiny?
The strange head floated in the liquid that was soaking him, its blue eyes wide open, as if trying to convey something to Cen Yu.
"You regret it?" Cen Yu asked.
The prophet didn't blink, but an image appeared in Cen Yu's mind.
The 19-year-old prophet foretold the future; he saw through everything and was kept under strict protection.
He said that everything he said would become a reality.
He was weak and indecisive, like a duckweed adrift on water, being dragged along in a direction that was not his own.
He was hoisted high up, and everyone told him that they wanted to enter the new world and build a new home, and they needed the guidance of a prophet. He was like a deceived lamb. After his body was no longer able to support them, they said they would offer him their brains.
