Chapter 99 The Neglected Second Son (9)

"Take that child back right now! Do you hear me?"

On the other end of the phone, the mother's roar was particularly jarring.

Lin Jingyue recalled how the original owner had repeatedly asked her family for help. What were they saying back then?

"It's just a few slaps, what's so hard about that? Men are all like that, they just have to bear it."

"You're a mother of two, can you please stop being so willful? Since ancient times, which woman hasn't been beaten? Why do you have to make such a big deal out of it?"

"He hasn't cheated on you, and he doesn't have any other women. He's been very good to you, so please stop complaining. Besides, what can you do after the divorce?"

None of her extended family understood her. The original owner's mother had never experienced domestic violence from her father, so she didn't understand that this kind of pain came not only from the body but also from the mind.

They're just traditional, so traditional it's frightening.

Lin Jingyue took a deep breath to calm herself before retorting, "No matter what you think, I will not give my child back. I was powerless to resist you before, but now I'm all grown up, so what? Mom, I call you Mom because of our blood relationship. But I'm not someone you can just bully."

“I will transfer your retirement money to your account on time, but if you anger me, you won’t get a single penny.”

What do people fear most when they get old? They fear their children being unfilial and not taking care of them in their old age.

Although the original owner's mother had three sons, she knew their character and knew they would be in no condition to support her in her old age. None of the three had a proper job, and their wives stayed home to take care of the children and occasionally did odd jobs.

I haven't been in touch with this daughter for a long time, but I know she's probably the most successful one in the family. If she doesn't send money for her retirement, her future life will likely be very difficult.

"I was just saying a few words, why are you talking back? I'm your mother, would I harm you? If you don't want to, you don't want to, I didn't force you, did I? Forget it, I won't say any more, you'll just find me annoying. I'm your mother, not your enemy." She compromised, but not easily; she still had to save face.

Lin Jingyue didn't want to listen to her nagging, so she hung up the phone directly.

Three sons and one daughter. Do you think the daughter is the family's darling?

No, you're wrong. This daughter is a slave in the household; everything she does is for her three sons.

She's willing to contribute to their retirement savings not because she's kind-hearted, but because that's what the law stipulates. However, she'll definitely only contribute the bare minimum; enough for the elderly couple to live comfortably on their own, but if it's for their sons to spend, that's their own problem.

After watching a few funny videos online, her anger subsided. She looked up and gazed into the children's playground, trying to find Li Chengyi.

Over there, by the building blocks, he was kneeling on the ground, quietly building his little house. He looked exceptionally well-behaved, but he was too thin and needed to eat more.

She still had some time to spare, so she continued sitting outside. Getting really bored, she started scrolling through her phone. Thankfully, she was wearing headphones, otherwise the sound from the speaker would have been truly embarrassing.

But not long after, staff members came over with two children.

"Excuse me, is this your child? Something happened, I wonder if you could mediate?"

Li Chengyi and a little girl in a princess dress, for some reason, both looked like they were about to cry.

Lin Jingyue was a little confused. "What happened?"

She's not the type to throw a tantrum over every little thing that happens to the child, but at least tell her what happened, right?

The staff member scratched his head awkwardly. "Well, this child accidentally fell on your child while playing. But her parents aren't here right now, so we thought we'd let you know first."

There are many children in the playground, and sometimes they argue over small things. But this was indeed an accident, and the little girl apologized to the little boy on the spot.

However, Li Chengyi had a large bump on his head, which looked like it was caused by hitting the table. The staff were worried that the parents would make a fuss, so they came over to explain.

Lin Jingyue looked at the big bump on the little guy's forehead, feeling both sorry for him and amused, as it looked like he had grown horns.

"Xiaoyi, does it hurt here?" She pulled the child over and examined him carefully. It was just that the bump on his head was protruding.

Li Chengyi reached up and touched the bump on his forehead, flinched, and then shook his head to indicate that it didn't hurt.

The little girl pouted and slowly walked over, looking like she was about to cry. "I'm sorry, Auntie, I accidentally bumped into this little boy. You can hit me!"

Then he closed his eyes and stretched out his hand, looking as if to say, "Go ahead and hit me, I won't complain at all."

Her eyes were closed, but her eyelids were trembling, probably because she was afraid of being hit. But if you do something wrong, you have to accept the punishment; she can't shirk responsibility just because she's a girl.

So she closed her eyes tightly, as if that would stop her from feeling the pain.

Lin Jingyue chuckled and put her hand down. "Since you said it was an accident, why did I hit you? Doesn't it hurt here?"

The little girl had a scratch on her calf, probably from a fall. It's like a sudden cut on your hand; you don't notice it until you see it, and then it hurts.

"It hurts!" the little girl cried out delicately, then tears streamed down her face. "It hurts so much."

The staff were completely baffled, unsure of how much compensation they would have to pay.

Fortunately, this parent seems easy to get along with. I just wonder what the other parent is like?

"Do you have any disinfection tools here? If so, may I borrow them?" Lin Jingyue asked.

"Yes, yes, I'll go get it right away."

The staff rushed over to get it, afraid they would be scolded if they were slow.

Seeing how cautious he was, Lin Jingyue felt a little helpless. There was nothing she could do; there were always some oddballs in society who did oddball things.

"Thank you for your help. I'll take care of the two children's injuries first. I'll talk to the other parents about this later. If needed, I'd like to ask you to show me the surveillance footage."

"Okay, okay!"

These places usually have CCTV cameras, just in case any conflict arises. If the other parent isn't easy to reason with, she'll just confront them directly.

However, judging from the girl's polite personality, her family members shouldn't be the difficult type.
