Cen Yu regained consciousness on her bed.
The moment she regained consciousness, she threw back the covers and anxiously asked Feng An, who was guarding her bedside, "How long have I been asleep?"
"Unconscious," Feng An corrected her wording. "Two hours."
Cen Yu jumped off the bed and rushed barefoot to Ai Cao, who was sitting on the laptop.
Ai Cao showed her the draft of the "Version 0.9851 - Stop typing Ai Cao and type more words" proposal.
Cen Yuren helped her put on slippers and asked, "How's the writing going?"
"It's alright," said Ai Cao, "but it's still stuck where it was."
She moved the mouse, and the small cursor landed on a piece of text that she had highlighted.
—How to resolve workplace conflicts arising from female employees' desire to have children.
Cen Yu's head started to ache as soon as she saw the problem. It was simply too big for her at the moment. So big that it could be broken down into several smaller problems, each of which would require a 200,000-word paper.
Cen Yu sighed, "How about we ignore this for now?"
Artemisia asked, "Really, you don't care?"
Cen Yu buried her head in her knees and said painfully, "I want to help, but I don't even have a clue how to solve it right now."
Seeing that they intended to continue pushing forward the project proposal in the room, Feng An pushed over a small dining table with lunch on it and reminded Cen Yu, "Miss, guests. Please have something to eat first."
She lifted the four sides of the solid wood dining table, fastened the buckles underneath, and then placed the exquisitely plated food and tableware one by one from the lower compartment of the table.
Upon hearing Feng An speak, Cen Yu posed the question to her, asking, "Do you have any ideas?"
Feng An said, "I have no intention of doing anything; I'm just Miss's bodyguard."
"If you don't have any ideas, then come up with one on the spot!" Cen Yu, relying on being Feng An's half-superior, began to use his leadership power in advance.
"..." Feng An was silent for a while, then said, "Since solving this problem is so troublesome, let's prevent it from happening in the first place."
Cen Yu opened her mouth slightly.
Feng An said, "As long as all the employees we hire don't like men, there won't be a problem of balancing their families and work with the company's profits."
Cen Yu clapped her hands excitedly and squeezed out some mugwort, trying to jot down this new inspiration on her laptop. But her attempt was quickly suppressed by the rumbling stomach of Feng An and the mugwort.
The two men pressed her down to the dining table from both sides.
Cen Yu, who originally wanted to complain a bit, also chose to shut herself up with food because of its aroma.
Ai Cao finished two whole bowls of rice and drank half a bowl of soup before reluctantly putting down her bowl.
Cen Yu, who was next to her, had just finished eating half a bowl of rice and was still holding her chopsticks, contemplating whether to eat the baby bok choy in broth on the left or the Dongpo pork with its glistening red oil on the right.
Seeing that Ai Cao had put down her bowl, Feng An calmly asked, "Would you like more rice?"
The mugwort shook its head.
After all, this body wasn't her own, and she didn't need food to sustain her life. But seeing these methods of processing ingredients for the first time, she couldn't help but find them novel, so she ate more than she usually ate.
Cen Yu looked at the bowl of mugwort, then at her belly.
"Is one bowl enough?" Cen Yu asked. She had been hesitating while holding her chopsticks, and Ai Cao had deliberately avoided her gaze. So she only noticed now that Ai Cao's bowl was empty.
Although Cen Yu is 1.7 meters tall, she used to pay too much attention to her weight and figure management, and maintained a habit of fasting for several years.
If her nose hadn't turned red from the cold in the snow a few days ago, she probably would have continued this habit.
“I’ve already finished two bowls,” Ai Cao said. “The food was delicious.”
Cen Yu was taken aback. She turned her head and looked around the table, noticing that most of the dishes were only half full; she put the bowl on the table and leaned over to touch Ai Cao's belly: "How much did you eat?"
With the mugwort not blocking her way, Cen Yu became even more unrestrained, groping the soft belly: "How did you manage to eat so much? Your belly feels surprisingly nice to the touch."
Artemisia smiled.
Cen Yu asked several times but still couldn't get an answer, so she sat back down dejectedly, holding her bowl and saying, "Did you grow so tall because you ate so much?"
Ai Cao nodded: "If you eat a lot too, you might grow taller. Taller than that little brat."
The disinterest on Cen Yu's face disappeared.
She shoved a mouthful of Dongpo pork into her mouth and mumbled, "I'm going to send that little brat down to keep my dad company."
Knowing she couldn't respond to that, Ai Cao simply smiled and moved the other plates of meat to Cen Yu's front.
After they finished eating, Feng An cleared away the leftovers, put the table down, and pushed it out.
Cen Yu let out a satisfying burp, the aroma of meat filling the air.
Ai Cao said understandingly, "This is the first time you've eaten so much food. It's already quite impressive that you ate so much."
Cen Yu gave her a lazy glare.
Ai Cao asked, "Shall we now discuss the development direction that Feng An just proposed?"
Cen Yu moved to the edge of the bed, leaned over it, and said, "I'll sleep for ten minutes."
Ai Cao nodded and set a ten-minute alarm on her phone.
Within seconds, Cen Yu's even breathing could be heard from beside the bed. Ai Cao glanced at her, saw that her elbows and wrists were exposed, sighed, pulled a blanket over her, and then sat back down at the computer.
Feng An silently pushed open the door and walked in.
Ai Cao waved slightly to her, inviting her to sit down beside her.
Ai Cao asked softly, "Where did the solution to the problem you just raised come from?"
Feng An lowered his voice and said, "I became Miss's bodyguard because I don't like men."
Artemisia gestured for her to continue.
Feng An continued, "I wasn't the most suitable bodyguard candidate at the time, but I was the only one who didn't like men." As if she knew that Ai Cao would continue to ask, she continued in a light tone, "When I was a child, I took a knife and shaved the body of a man who was harassing me."
Artemisia nodded and said, "Well done."
Feng An's lips curled into a slight smile. She humbly accepted Ai Cao's praise: "Thank you."
“But that’s not enough,” Ai Cao asked. “Are there any other reasons?”
Feng paused for a moment before saying, "I passed the lie detector test."
"No matter what kind of man appears in front of me, I only feel murderous intent."
Ai Cao quickly typed on the keyboard, using this passage as evidence of the feasibility of "screening out female employees who do not like men." She turned to Feng An and smiled brightly, saying, "I still have eight minutes before I wake Cen Yu up."
These eight minutes were enough for Feng An to explain this experience clearly.
Ai Cao stared intently at the wind-blown table.
