Chapter 40 A Yandere Vampire Prince Falls in Love with a Poor Girl (8)

"Huh?"

Lillian made a surprised sound.

The bishop still smiled and said, "You are my girl, you should stay here."

Ai Cao flexed her wrist and raised her hand to protect Lillian: "Is this the condition for my treatment?"

Unlike the sharp point of mugwort.

The bishop smiled and tacitly agreed. She calmly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and said, "She belongs here."

Lillian pursed her lips, took two steps forward, and stood beside Artemisia. She looked earnestly at the bishop and asked, "Why do I have to stay here?"

“You know why,” the bishop said gently. “You have seen the Lord’s angels, but you do not yet have the ability to communicate with them—I need to help you.”

Lillian clutched the pendant to her chest, then looked hesitantly at Artemisia.

Ai Cao shrugged: "If you want to stay here, then stay."

Lillian gripped the pendant tighter. She asked earnestly, "When can I leave?"

The bishop smiled and said, "You may leave when you are able to communicate with them."

Lillian took a deep breath. She released her hand that had been clutching the pendant and met the bishop's gaze firmly: "...I'll try it tonight."

"If I succeed..."

The bishop gently continued her words: "Then you can naturally leave here with your friends."

The tense atmosphere between them had lessened considerably. Ai Cao lowered her arms and asked Pandora beside her, "Where am I sleeping tonight?"

Pandora gave her a complicated look. She seemed to want to ask Artemisia's reaction to what had just happened, but she didn't ask further, only saying, "I'll take you to the prayer room to sleep for the night."

Mugwort said yes.

After Lillian and the bishop finalized their agreement, she came to say a brief goodbye to Artemisia.

Ai Cao watched her follow the bishop into the depths of the corridor. Only when the small figure was obscured by the pillars of the corridor did she turn her gaze away.

Pandora asked, "What is your relationship with her?"

Her words and tone were stiff. But Ai Cao glanced at her and saw a subtle hint of envy on her perpetually stern face.

Ai Cao smiled and replied, "We are sisters."

Even though they met in a dilapidated stable, they were still sisters.

Pandora was silent for a moment, then said, "I also used to have a sister." She sighed softly, "I hope you can protect her."

Artemisia looked at her, puzzled: "Lillian doesn't need my protection."

If Lillian became a vampire, she could kill all the humans in the world by herself.

Even though Lillian is still human, Ai Cao could still glean a clue from her conversation with the bishop.

The bishop's words effectively confirmed Lillian's status as a "witch" in this world.

Artemisia has never seen a witch.

She was particularly curious about what Lillian would be like as a witch.

If this were Ai Cao's first world, she might still have protected Lillian as a weakling. But she and Xia Moli have already overcome many difficulties together—

Artemisia knows that the heroine of the world is not just a decorative vase.

Pandora twitched the corners of her mouth, revealing a somewhat awkward smile.

“That would be best,” Pandora said. She turned to Artemisia and asked, “Shall we go rest now?”

The mugwort responded.

She followed Pandora through the repetitive corridors. Soft, colorful light shone through the stained-glass windows, illuminating the cobblestone path.

All you can hear here is their own footsteps.

Artemisia asked, "Aren't you curious about what they'll do?" She thought for a moment, then rephrased, "How can Lillian communicate with 'them'?"

Pandora shook her head.

She said softly, "That is the Lord's domain; we have no right to inquire or explore it."

Artemisia shrugged. She didn't believe in the existence of God, nor did she think she needed to change that belief. But now, she had encountered a bishop who claimed to serve "the Lord," so she began to feel curious about beings she had never seen before.

What were those "angels" that Lillian saw?

What is the "Lord" that the bishop speaks of?

Pandora opened a small door. They entered the tiny prayer room, large enough for them to lie down and sleep on the floor.

Pandora took a blanket from the cupboard and spread it on the floor.

“The nuns have already gone to bed; this is the only place to sleep,” Pandora said calmly.

Ai Cao helped her straighten the corners of the quilt and joked, "At least this place is much safer than that castle."

Pandora nodded silently.

Nothing was said that night.

When Ai Cao opened her eyes again, Pandora was already tidying up her blanket. She slowly sat up, watched Pandora put the blanket back in the closet, and then asked, "What time is it?"

Pandora glanced out the window.

The windows of the prayer room were small, letting in only a little light. The clear morning light reflected on the ground, creating a small lake.

Pandora said, "Six o'clock."

Ai Cao lay down again: "I'll sleep a little longer."

Pandora walked over with a tight-lipped expression and gently kicked the corner of her blanket: "Aren't you going to see Lillian?"

Ai Cao covered her face with the blanket, and her voice, coming through the blanket, was a little muffled: "If Lillian can't successfully communicate with them in one night, then I don't need to rush this little bit of time."

Pandora paused for a moment, then said again, "Lillian has succeeded."

Ai Cao rolled over, still wrapped in her blanket: "Then I don't need to rush anymore. I want to sleep until eight o'clock."
