Chapter 2 Mo Family Village

A small village in the Da Li Dynasty, nestled at the foot of a mountain, surrounded by water, was a prosperous place.

The village is small, with seventy or eighty households. The houses are scattered in a neat and orderly manner, most of them are adobe houses, and a few are brick and tile houses.

The village is located on a large flat area at the foot of the mountain, and not far away there is a river that flows slowly down from the mountain, through the village and into the distance.

On the edge of the village, in a small courtyard at the foot of the mountain, Xiao Li woke up in the room on the left. When she opened her eyes, she saw an empty, dark thatched roof.

Looking around, there was a half-new, half-person-high cabinet in the corner, a small table, and a stool underneath, but nothing else.

Xiao Li sat up in bed, a sharp pain shooting through her head. She quickly touched it, and fragments of memories that weren't hers kept flashing through her mind. She fell back onto the bed and fainted.

In her dream, Xiao Li saw 12 years of her body's past in a fleeting, dreamlike way.

This is Mojia Village. The entire village is inhabited by people with the surname Mo, except for a few families who fled here and have different surnames.

Before the Mo family split up, they lived in the middle of the village. Grandpa Mo and Grandma Mo had five children. Four of their sons got married one after another, and only their youngest daughter was still raised by them.

Because the house could no longer accommodate the whole family, the three sons, the second, third, and fourth sons, divided the family property. The eldest son lived in the old house with the elderly and the youngest sister, while the three sons each built their own houses and moved out, waiting for the youngest sister to get married and bring in a dowry.

At the foot of the mountain, in a small courtyard lived the Mo family of four. Mo Qingshan was the second son of the Mo family who had separated from the main branch. He was an honest man who did not talk much. He and his wife, Yun Yuniang, devoted themselves to taking care of the crops and raising Mo Yunxiao and Mo Xiaoli, a brother and sister.

Xiao Li woke up hungry. Following the aroma, she looked over and saw a steaming bowl on the small table beside her bed.

Just then, Yun Yuniang pushed open the door and walked in. She was carrying a bowl in her hand, which was dark and looked like Chinese medicine, emitting a strong medicinal aroma.

"Xiaoli, you're awake. Are you still dizzy?"

Yun Yuniang placed the bowl on the small table, helped Xiaoli up, and put a pillow behind her as a cushion.

Xiao Li looked at the gentle woman in front of her. She was in her thirties, with somewhat dull skin and wrinkles at the corners of her eyes that made her look a little old. Her eyes were bright and she was staring at her intently.

Xiao Li lowered her head and said softly, "It's much better now."

"Are you hungry? Here, let Mom feed you some meat porridge. Then drink your medicine later. Get a good rest tonight, and you'll feel better tomorrow."

Yun Yuniang picked up the bowl, scooped up some meat porridge with a spoon, and brought it to Xiaoli's lips. Xiaoli involuntarily opened her mouth and ate it.

Before long, the bowl of meat porridge was finished. Yun Yuniang took out a handkerchief to wipe Xiaoli's mouth, picked up the medicine and handed it to her. Xiaoli obediently drank it all in one gulp, and Yun Yuniang put a piece of candy into her mouth.

"Sweet, isn't it!" Yun Yuniang said with a smile.

"Hmm..." Xiao Li nodded with a smile.

Yun Yuniang sat down on the edge of the bed, holding Xiaoli in her arms and gently stroking her hair. Xiaoli stiffened slightly, then slowly and softly leaned against Yun Yuniang's shoulder.

"My precious baby, get well soon..."

Xiao Li had never felt such emotions before. Her heart felt like it was melting. She closed her eyes briefly. So be it! From now on, I am Mo Xiao Li. Father, Mother, Brother…

It was March, and the weather was gradually warming up. The Mo family had all gone to work in the fields, leaving Xiaoli at home to rest. Xiaoli sat in the courtyard, basking in the sun and sorting out her thoughts.

I've never heard of this Great Li Dynasty before; it doesn't belong to any historical era. It must be a parallel world. Judging from their clothing and appearance, it's similar to the Song Dynasty in history. Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it. Having this space gives me some support.

Speaking of the space, Xiaoli felt a surge of curiosity. She had been sick a few days ago and had been taken care of by others, so she hadn't had a chance to explore it properly.

Xiao Li got up and went back to her room, closed the door and bolted it. With a thought, she disappeared from the room.

In the blink of an eye, Xiao Li appeared in a place shrouded in mist. In front of her was a small path, and next to her was a neat patch of black soil, about an acre in size, divided into four small plots, each planted with something.

On the other side of the path was a small river, flowing out of the mist and back into it, its source obscured. It was unclear whether there were any fish, shrimp, or crabs there.

Following the path, at the end stood two small bamboo huts. Xiao Li walked over and pushed open the door. Inside, against the wall, was a four-poster bed with a sky-blue mosquito net hung by two silver hooks. Near the window was a small, empty table. A bamboo chair sat beside it. Other than that, there was nothing else.

Xiao Li went into a smaller bamboo hut next door. One wall had a row of storage shelves, but they were empty. It looked like a small warehouse.

Xiao Li was a little frustrated. Where was the Great Rejuvenation Pill? Where were the cultivation techniques? Where were the martial arts manuals?

If all else fails, a complete encyclopedia of plants would do...

Xiao Li left the bamboo house to study the black soil. All four small plots were planted with radishes, cabbages, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes… all common vegetables. They must have been planted by that person after obtaining the spatial ability.

It has to be said that Xiao Li was right. After that person got the space, he became interested for a while and took care of it. After planting vegetables, he found it boring. After all, he was already an immortal, and it was better to eat less human food.

Xiao Li smiled contentedly; at least she wouldn't go hungry anymore. On the open ground beside the land, there were some shovels and buckets, probably left over from before. Xiao Li watered the vegetables, then looked at the river; fish were swimming around in it, so it seemed she wouldn't have to worry about not having fish to eat.

Thinking about going out, Xiaoli returned to her room. She decided to go for a walk in the mountains to see if she could find some fruit trees to plant.

Xiao Li went to the storage room, carried a small basket on her back, took a small hoe, closed the courtyard gate, and went up the mountain along the path.

At this time of year, the mountains are lush and green, many wildflowers are in bloom, and wild vegetables are fresh and tender. Unfortunately, Xiaoli has lived in the city since she was a child and doesn't know what wild vegetables are edible.

Looking at the green grass and wildflowers by the roadside, Xiao Li's mood improved. These past few days, she had been imitating the original owner's personality, afraid that her family would find out that she was not the original owner. Fortunately, the original owner was quiet and had a similar personality to Xiao Li, otherwise she might have been exposed.

Now that Xiaoli was alone, she relaxed and was in the mood to appreciate the scenery. Seeing how beautiful the wildflowers were, Xiaoli couldn't resist picking a large handful and carrying them as she played with them on her way up the mountain.

There were still people at the foot of the mountain, so Xiaoli went a little further up, crossing a winding path. The grass and bushes in the mountains grew increasingly dense. A small stream, its origin unknown, flowed beside the path, filled with many smooth, white pebbles—it was truly beautiful…
