Chapter 2 Educated Youth in the Countryside

Lin Qian was overjoyed and quickly said, "Thank you, Director, thank you, Xiaoyu."

The transaction was completed smoothly, and Lin Qian received the money and the tickets, finally feeling a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.

Zhou Xiaoyu looked at Lin Qian with sympathy in her eyes: "Life in the countryside must be tough, you have to take good care of yourself."

Lin Qian looked at Su Yao gratefully: "Thank you for your concern. I will try my best to live a good life."

After saying goodbye to Zhou Xiaoyu and her uncle, Lin Qian called out to 003 in her mind: "003, now that the job has been sold, we need to hurry up and prepare for our trip to the countryside. The supplies in the market are limited. Do you know where we can buy a more complete selection of items?"

“Host, there’s a place where you can buy what you need, but it’s a black market, so be extra careful when you go there. You’d better disguise yourself and try not to let anyone discover your true identity,” 003 warned.

Lin Qian nodded. She found some old cloth and paint and cleverly made herself a simple yet effective disguise. Then, following 003's directions, she arrived at the black market.

The black market was located in a secluded corner of the city, with a narrow and hidden entrance; it would be difficult to find without someone pointing it out. Lin Qian was immediately struck by the scene before her as soon as she stepped inside. The place was bustling with people, the sounds of noise and haggling creating a uniquely noisy atmosphere. The stalls were filled with a dazzling array of goods: food, daily necessities, farm tools, clothing… all sorts of things were available, a truly overwhelming sight.

Lin Qian cautiously navigated the black market, her eyes sharp and wary. She first came to a food stall. The stall was filled with various canned goods, biscuits, and dry rations.

"How much is this canned food?" Lin Qian asked in a low voice.

"Two yuan a can, no bargaining," the stall owner said without looking up.

Lin Qian frowned: "It's too expensive, can you make it cheaper?"

The stall owner looked up at Lin Qian and said, "This is already the lowest price. Take it or leave it."

Lin Qian thought about it for a moment and felt that although the price was a bit high, these foods were indeed essential for going to the countryside, so she still bought some.

Next, she came to a clothing stall. The cotton-padded coats and trousers on the stall looked thick and warm.

"How much is this cotton-padded coat?" Lin Qian asked.

"Fifteen yuan a piece, made of good cotton, very warm," the stall owner enthusiastically introduced.

Lin Qian touched the material of the cotton-padded coat and felt it was pretty good. After some bargaining, she bought several cotton-padded coats and trousers for twelve yuan each, as well as several pairs of thick socks, gloves, and a warm hat.

At another stall, Lin Qian found some farm tools and household items. She carefully selected them and finally bought a sharp hoe, a sturdy sickle, and some durable rope. She also bought an iron pot, several bowls, some chopsticks, as well as toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrush, and towels.

Besides these basic necessities, Lin Qian also made a special trip to a medicine stall. She knew that she might encounter some unexpected situations after going to the countryside, so medicine was essential.

"What kind of medicine do you have here?" Lin Qian asked.

"We have cold medicine, anti-inflammatory drugs, fever reducers, and painkillers," the stall owner replied.

Lin Qian carefully selected some commonly used medicines, and also bought some bandages and disinfectant as first aid supplies.

Throughout her shopping trip, Lin Qian remained highly vigilant. She paid attention to the people around her, trying to avoid causing unnecessary trouble. At the same time, she cleverly bargained with the stall owners, saving a considerable amount of money, thanks to her wit and eloquence.

After some selection and purchase, Lin Qian felt she was fully prepared for her trip to the countryside. She quietly put the purchased items into her system inventory, a process she did very discreetly so that no one noticed.

After shopping, Lin Qian returned to her residence. She began packing her belongings. The original owner had very few things, and Lin Qian didn't want to use some of the original owner's personal items, especially underwear; she simply couldn't accept it. So, she packed up the original owner's things and set them aside, just for show.

Just then, Lin Qian's neighbor, Aunt Zhang, came over for a visit. Aunt Zhang was a kind-hearted person and usually took good care of Lin Qian. Seeing Lin Qian packing her luggage, she asked with concern, "Little Lin, where are you going?"

Lin Qian smiled helplessly: "Aunt Zhang, I'm going to the countryside, and I'm making preparations."

Aunt Zhang sighed, "Sigh, going to the countryside, going to the countryside, it shouldn't be your turn, the third child, in your family's rotation. Why did your older brothers and sisters all..." Aunt Zhang hesitated, then gently patted Lin Qian's shoulder, "Little Lin, I know you've suffered a lot in this family. Going to the countryside is tough, but it's also an opportunity. Take good care of yourself when you get there."

Lin Qian nodded: "I know, Aunt Zhang, thank you for your concern."

Aunt Zhang thought for a moment and then said, "By the way, Xiao Lin, I heard that the conditions in the countryside are very harsh. You should bring more warm clothes so you don't get cold. Also, when you get there, you should get along well with the villagers. If everyone looks out for each other, life will be easier."

Lin Qian said gratefully, "Aunt Zhang, I've remembered everything you said. I'll take good care of myself."
