Chapter 3: Educated Youth Sent Down to the Countryside (2)

After Lin Qian finished packing up the original owner's pitifully small amount of belongings, she lay exhausted on the bed and weakly said to the air, "003, release the original book's plot."

As she finished speaking, a virtual projection appeared in the room, and the plot of the original book unfolded before her eyes like a series of cruel scenes.

The original owner of this body was also named Lin Qian. She grew up in a family devoid of warmth. Her father's indifference and her mother's neglect meant she never experienced the warmth of family affection; the selfishness and domineering nature of her siblings made her suffer endless bullying at home. She was like a forgotten corner, silently enduring everything. In this family, she was someone neither her father nor her mother loved, like a hardworking ox, a free nanny, with endless chores every day, yet never receiving a word of care or praise.

Worse still, Lin Qian was signed up for the rural assignment without her mother's consent; she had no choice whatsoever. When she learned this, Lin Qian was filled with helplessness and despair, but at the same time, she also held a glimmer of hope for a new life, yearning to escape the suffocating family she had been living in a strange place.

The train to the countryside was packed with educated youth, each carrying a complex mix of emotions. Lin Qian struggled to drag her heavy luggage through the narrow, crowded aisle. Suddenly, her luggage bumped into an elderly woman with her grandson.

"Hey! What's wrong with you, girl? Can't you see?" The old woman's shrill voice rang out in the noisy carriage, her face full of anger and dissatisfaction. "You've scared my grandson, do you know that?"

Lin Qian quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Mother-in-law, I really didn't mean to."

"Is an apology all you want? Do you know how precious my grandson is? If anything happens to him, can you afford to compensate me?" The old woman persisted, her eyes filled with disdain and disgust. "My grandson is the apple of our eye. If anything happens to him, I won't forgive you!"

Lin Qian felt very wronged. She tried to explain, "Mother-in-law, the train was too crowded. I really didn't mean to bump into you and the child."

However, the old woman ignored her explanation and continued to berate Lin Qian loudly: "You girl, you have no manners at all! You can't even carry your own luggage properly, what can you do?"

At this moment, the chubby little boy also joined in the commotion: "Grandma, she's bad, hit her!"

Upon hearing this, the old woman became even more agitated: "Did you hear that? My grandson said you're bad, you have to pay me back! To calm my grandson down!"

Lin Qian said helplessly, "Mother-in-law, I really don't have much money..."

"Stop talking nonsense! Don't even think about leaving if you don't have money!" the old woman said rudely.

The people around her just watched indifferently, and no one was willing to stand up and say a word for Lin Qian.

Just then, Su Yao, the female protagonist of the book, appeared. She was beautiful, but her eyes revealed a hint of shrewdness and calculation. Su Yao stepped forward, a fake smile on her face, and said to the old woman, "Grandma, please don't be angry. This young girl didn't mean it. When you're out and about, everyone should be understanding of each other."

The old woman glanced at Su Yao, and seeing that she was pretty, her tone softened slightly: "Hmph, I'll let it go this time since you're a good talker."

Su Yao turned her head and said to Lin Qian in a seemingly gentle tone, "It's alright, don't worry about it."

Lin Qian was filled with gratitude. She felt that Su Yao was like an angel who appeared when she was most helpless. During the rest of the train journey, Lin Qian took the initiative to help Su Yao with her luggage, get her meals, and carefully tidied her bed to express her gratitude.

But Su Yao had her own plans. She thought to herself, "Life in the countryside is tough. I need to find someone easy to work for me. Lin Qian looks honest and timid, so she can be my free labor. If I help her out of this predicament, she'll definitely be grateful to me and will obediently do whatever I ask in the future."

The train finally arrived at its destination, and Lin Qian and Su Yao were assigned to Hongqi Village. This was a village on the banks of the Heihe River, where the last vestiges of summer heat still lingered. When the educated youth arrived, the villagers were busy preparing for the upcoming autumn harvest.

Life in the countryside was very tough. The heavy farm work and simple living conditions made it difficult for many educated youth to adapt, but Lin Qian did not complain at all. She did her best to help Su Yao with the work every day.

There was a handsome educated youth in the village named Zhao Yu. Not only was Zhao Yu handsome, but he also had a cheerful personality, and he became the focus of attention for the female educated youth in the village as soon as he arrived.

One day, Zhao Yu ran into Lin Qian by chance in the village. Lin Qian's simple and honest temperament and innocent smile attracted him. He couldn't help but take a few more glances at her and took the initiative to greet her and chat with her about everyday things.

And so Zhao Yu fell in love with the kind-hearted original owner of this body, but the original owner was unaware of it.

That day, when Zhao Yu stopped the original owner of this body from speaking with her, Su Yao happened to witness this scene, and a flame of jealousy and anger instantly ignited in her heart. "This Lin Qian, who usually seems so timid, actually dares to seduce Zhao Yu!"

It turns out that Su Yao and Zhao Yu grew up together. They had similar family backgrounds; their parents were both important figures in the compound, and their families were very close, so they arranged their marriage early on.

Su Yao had liked Zhao Yu since childhood, and she always believed that Zhao Yu was her future husband. Zhao Yu also had feelings for her. They spent many happy times together, going to school and playing together, and had a deep emotional foundation.

However, as time went on, some things happened in the compound. Zhao Yu's father was caught up in a power struggle and framed, facing a serious crisis. To avoid being implicated, Zhao Yu's parents decided to send him to the countryside to lay low until things calmed down before making further plans.
