Chapter 3: Educated Youth Sent Down to the Countryside (2)

Su Yao's parents were also worried that their daughter would be affected, so they agreed to let her go to the countryside with Zhao Yu. They hoped that in the countryside, the children could temporarily escape the conflict and wait for things to improve.

And so, Su Yao and Zhao Yu arrived in the countryside.

Su Yao's love for Zhao Yu had reached an almost pathological level. The root of all this can be traced back to their childhood.

At that time, Su Yao and Zhao Yu's families were neighbors and had a very good relationship. The adults often joked about them, saying they were a match made in heaven. Young Su Yao took these words to heart, and from then on, her world consisted only of Zhao Yu.

Su Yao was extremely possessive of Zhao Yu, and she didn't allow him to have much contact with other girls. Under her strict control, Zhao Yu, though somewhat helpless, maintained a special relationship with her.

However, Zhao Yu's thoughts were completely different from Su Yao's. The teasing he received from his family and elders when he was young instilled in him a strange aversion to Su Yao. He felt his life was being restricted by her, and he had lost his freedom. As he grew older, this aversion intensified, and he gradually began to distance himself from Su Yao.

However, Su Yao didn't notice Zhao Yu's change; she remained as clingy to him as before. That day, Su Yao saw Zhao Yu talking to a girl and smiling at her. This scene instantly ignited a nameless fire within Su Yao; she felt her world was about to collapse.

In a dark and damp corner, Su Yao crept furtively to the place where Wang Qiang frequented. A musty smell permeated the air; the moss on the walls and the cobwebs in the corners spoke of the place's decay.

Su Yao frowned, covered her nose with her hand, and felt disgusted by the place, but for the sake of her plan, she still forced herself to go in despite her discomfort.

Wang Qiang was leaning against the wall, looking bored, when he saw Su Yao arrive. A greedy glint flashed in his eyes: "Oh, what do you want?"

Su Yao glanced at him with disgust, then took out some food and a small amount of money from her pocket and threw them on the ground: "Wang Qiang, I need your help with something."

Wang Qiang's eyes lit up when he saw the things on the ground. He quickly picked them up and said with a grin, "What's up? I'll do anything as long as there's money to be made."

Su Yao lowered her voice and said, "See that Lin Qian? I want you to harass her and make sure she has no peace."

Wang Qiang was taken aback, then understood Su Yao's meaning. He licked his lips: "This is easy to handle, but the reward..."

Su Yao said impatiently, "As long as you do things well, you'll get your share of the benefits."

Wang Qiang was secretly delighted. He knew this was a good opportunity to make money. Although he also thought Su Yao was ruthless, he didn't care as long as he could make money.

Su Yao looked at Wang Qiang's greedy appearance and felt contempt, but in order to achieve her goal, she still forced herself not to show it: "Remember, no one can know that I ordered this, otherwise you won't get a single penny."

Wang Qiang nodded: "Don't worry, I know what to do."

Su Yao turned and left, feeling uncomfortable being with Wang Qiang.

Wang Qiang watched Su Yao's retreating figure and sneered, "That woman is ruthless, but I don't care, as long as I get the money."

Following Su Yao's instructions, Wang Qiang began a relentless pursuit of Lin Qian. Lin Qian felt utterly disgusted and terrified by Wang Qiang's behavior. She repeatedly and clearly rejected him, but he clung to her like a leech, driving her to her utter annoyance.

Meanwhile, Su Yao spread rumors in the village, saying that Lin Qian and Wang Qiang had an improper relationship. These rumors spread quickly, severely damaging Lin Qian's reputation. Villagers pointed fingers at her, saying she was immoral, and Lin Qian felt immense pain and despair.

Under immense pressure, Lin Qian felt she had nowhere to turn. Just then, Su Yao reappeared, feigning concern, and said to Lin Qian, "Lin Qian, your reputation is ruined now; everyone's talking about you behind your back. Only by marrying Wang Qiang can you quell these rumors and restore peace to your life. Don't be picky; although Wang Qiang isn't a great person, at least he can give you a home."

When Lin Qian appeared, Su Yao's unease turned into a real threat. She discovered that Zhao Yu had developed an interest in Lin Qian, which instantly ignited her jealousy. She couldn't tolerate Zhao Yu's attention to other girls, especially someone as seemingly simple and unassuming as Lin Qian.

To protect her love and engagement, Su Yao decides to take action. She begins plotting a series of schemes to put Lin Qian in a difficult situation and make Zhao Yu lose interest in her. She uses Wang Qiang to harass Lin Qian, spreads rumors to damage Lin Qian's reputation, and ultimately succeeds in driving Lin Qian to despair.

During her time in Heishan Village, Lin Qian's already fragile heart was tormented to the brink of collapse by the rumors spread by Su Yao. She lived in constant fear and was in a daze. Her already timid and cowardly nature made her even more helpless in the face of these rumors.

That day, Su Yao deliberately lured Lin Qian to the riverbank. Completely unsuspecting, Lin Qian was unaware of Su Yao's malice and walked step by step into Su Yao's trap. Taking advantage of Lin Qian's momentary lapse in attention, Su Yao forcefully pushed her into the river.

With a "plop," Lin Qian fell into the water. She couldn't swim and struggled desperately in the water, her cries for help drowned out by the river.

Wang Qiang, who had been waiting nearby, seized the opportunity and jumped into the water to rescue Lin Qian.

After being rescued and pulled ashore, Lin Qian gasped for breath. Her clothes clung tightly to her body from being soaked in the river, outlining her thin frame. Her hair was wet and clung to her face, water droplets constantly dripping from the ends, and her eyes were filled with fear and despair.
