Chapter 22 Broken Youth 12

With Lin Qian's patient persuasion, Lin's parents finally agreed to her suggestion.

The news quietly spread among the neighbors. Hearing that Mr. and Mrs. Lin were getting rid of some old things, the residents of the area came one after another. After all, most people in the area were not wealthy and had a considerable need for some practical secondhand items.

"Hey, Brother Lin, I heard you're selling some things. I've come to see if there's anything suitable," a neighbor said as he walked in.

"Yes, we have too much stuff at home, we can't take it all with us, so we're selling it cheaply," Mr. Lin replied with a smile.

Soon, the house was packed with people.

"This table is quite sturdy, how much does it cost?" someone asked.

Mr. Lin looked at the table and said, "Give me 20 yuan. This table is a bit old, but the quality is still good."

"Okay, I'll take it." The man readily paid.

Just then, a gossipy old lady arrived. She looked around and said sourly, "Oh, they're about to make it big, they've started selling things."

Lin's mother was a little embarrassed and didn't know how to answer. Seeing this, Lin Qian said, "Auntie, we just couldn't take our things with us when we moved, so we were thinking of getting rid of some of them. It's not what you're saying."

The older woman snorted, "Who knows? Maybe there's some other reason."

Lin Qian didn't want to get entangled with her any longer and continued to busy herself with greeting other guests.

"I'll take these clothes, Sister Lin, could you give me a discount?" another neighbor said.

Lin's mother smiled and said, "Okay, just give us whatever you think is appropriate. We can't take it with us anyway."

And just like that, the goods were almost all sold out quickly.

Next, Mr. and Mrs. Lin began to deliver some things to their neighbors.

"Uncle Zhang, please keep this chair. You can sit and enjoy the sun whenever you want." Lin's father delivered the chair to Uncle Zhang's house.

"Oh, thank you so much! You've been a huge help to me," said Grandpa Zhang gratefully.

"Grandma Wang, here are a few bowls for you. They're a bit old, but they're still usable." Lin's mother handed the bowls to Grandma Wang.

"Thank you so much, you're such kind people." Grandma Wang smiled as she accepted the bowl.

After delivering the items, Mr. and Mrs. Lin began to say goodbye to their old neighbors.

"Brother Li, we're moving now. Let's keep in touch." Lin's father shook hands with Brother Li.

"Great, I hope you have a comfortable stay in your new home," Brother Li said.

"Sister Zhao, thank you so much for taking care of me all these years." Lin's mother held Sister Zhao's hand, somewhat reluctant to part with her.

"Don't say that. We're all neighbors, so it's only right that we help each other out. You should take good care of yourselves in your new homes," Sister Zhao said.

After saying goodbye to their neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Lin returned home. Looking at the now empty room, they were filled with mixed emotions. This place held so many memories for them, but they were also full of anticipation for their new life.

"Sigh, it's really hard to get used to this house being so empty all of a sudden," Lin's father sighed softly, his eyes filled with deep reluctance.

"Yes, but we're going to our new home soon, which will be a new beginning," Lin's mother said, trying to sound cheerful, though a hint of longing still lingered in her eyes.

Seeing her parents' expressions, Lin Qian felt a pang of sadness. She stepped forward, took their hands, and said, "Mom and Dad, don't be sad. The new home will be even better, and our lives will become happier and happier."

Mr. and Mrs. Lin nodded, their eyes sparkling with hope for the future.

Soon, the moving company's truck arrived. Lin Qian's family began loading the remaining belongings onto the truck, preparing to head to their new home.

Throughout the journey, Mr. and Mrs. Lin remained silent, simply watching the scenery rushing past the window, their minds filled with countless thoughts. They reminisced about their time in the old house, while also feeling a mixture of anticipation and unease about their new life.

Finally, they arrived at their new home. The neighborhood was beautiful, with shady trees that made them feel relaxed and happy.

"This place is really nice!" Lin's father exclaimed, a long-lost smile appearing on his face.

"Yes, it's much better than where we used to live." Lin's mother also showed a relieved smile, and began to look forward to their future life.

Lin Qian led her parents into their new home and began decorating. Together they arranged furniture, hung curtains, and laid carpets. Although they were a little tired, everyone's face was filled with happy smiles.

However, a new life is not always smooth sailing. Lin Qian discovered that her parents were not well-adjusted to their new social circles and often felt lonely and helpless.

One day, while taking a walk in the neighborhood, Lin's mother encountered a rather unfriendly neighbor.

"Oh, so you're new here? Your clothes and style don't really suit our area," the neighbor said sarcastically, his eyes full of disdain.

Lin's mother felt a little embarrassed and didn't know how to respond. Her face turned bright red, and she silently quickened her pace and left.

After returning home, Lin's mother became very upset.

"Why are the people in this new place like this? They speak so rudely," Lin's mother complained, feeling very wronged.

Lin Qian comforted her, "Mom, don't take it to heart. There are people like that everywhere. We'll just ignore her. We'll gradually adapt to life here."

Lin Qian's family successfully moved this Sunday. On Monday morning, sunlight filtered through the thin clouds, falling gently onto the earth. Lin Qian packed her schoolbag, faced the rising sun, and walked steadily towards Xingchen School.

Upon entering the classroom, Lin Qian immediately noticed that her textbooks were missing again. She frowned slightly, a hint of annoyance rising in her heart, but she didn't show much surprise or anger.
