Chapter 45: Educated Youth Sent Down to the Countryside (44)

Su Yao's resentment towards Lin Qian burned like a raging fire, growing ever stronger and harder to contain. After several days of careful planning, she finally decided to carry out her scheme: to feign an apology to Lin Qian, using this as a pretext to achieve her ulterior motives.

That day, Su Yao got up very early. She took out a fairly fashionable polyester shirt from her luggage and put it on, paired with black straight-leg pants, which made her stand out from the rest of the village. She simply combed her hair and tied it into a half-high ponytail, without too many complicated decorations, but it still looked refreshing and neat.

Su Yao looked in the mirror, repeatedly adjusting her expression. She frowned, trying to convey guilt in her eyes, and her lips drooped slightly, feigning remorse. Once everything was ready, she took a deep breath, as if to encourage herself, and then went out to find Lin Qian.

She arrived at Lin Qian's door, feeling a little uneasy, but still forced herself to go inside. Upon seeing Lin Qian, Su Yao deliberately put on a seemingly sincere light in her eyes, her voice trembling slightly, and said to Lin Qian, "Lin Qian, I was wrong before, I really know I was wrong, and I want to apologize to you."

The misunderstanding between us runs too deep. I hope we can talk things out and resolve our conflict.” As she said this, a pleading look appeared in her eyes, and she leaned forward slightly, seemingly genuinely regretting her actions. Her hands were unconsciously twisted together, revealing her inner tension.

Lin Qian looked at Su Yao's seemingly sincere demeanor and couldn't help but sneer inwardly. She knew Su Yao's character all too well; she knew this apology was nothing but pretense. A hint of mockery flashed in Lin Qian's eyes, but she quickly concealed it, her lips curving upward with a barely perceptible contempt. However, she still decided to play along and see what tricks Su Yao was up to.

Lin Qian's eyes revealed a hint of determination. She nodded slightly and said, "Alright, I'm willing to talk to you." After saying that, she got up and followed Su Yao out the door.

The two remained silent the entire way, creating a somewhat oppressive atmosphere. Su Yao occasionally stole glances at Lin Qian, secretly plotting her next move, while Lin Qian walked on expressionlessly, her mind filled with vigilance towards Su Yao's scheme.

Her heart pounded like a drum, the rapid beating echoing in her mind, making her increasingly panicked. Sweat beaded on her palms, the sticky feeling making her uncomfortable, but she couldn't care less about that now. She kept telling herself, "Su Yao, this can't go on. Lin Qian, this thorn in my side, must be eliminated."

Zhao Yu can only be mine; I absolutely cannot let Lin Qian take him away. I must succeed this time, otherwise I'll have even less of a chance later. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but the tension was like a persistent ailment, impossible to shake off.

Her eyes darted around anxiously, sometimes glaring fiercely at Lin Qian as if Lin Qian were her mortal enemy; at other times she warily scanned her surroundings, afraid that some unexpected situation might affect her plans.

She couldn't wait to find a suitable opportunity to strike Lin Qian. Her fingers curled involuntarily, and her body trembled slightly. These subtle movements revealed her inner fear and unease.

She knew that this operation was a desperate gamble; if it failed, she would not only lose Zhao Yu completely, but also face even more trouble and accusations.

But she didn't care about anything else anymore; she was willing to take the risk to get Zhao Yu.

Seeing that Su Yao hadn't made a move, Lin Qian leisurely turned around to face the riverbank, pretending to admire the scenery. A gentle breeze rippled across the water, making the surface shimmer like a shattered mirror. While Lin Qian appeared to be gazing at the scenery with apparent ease, a barely perceptible wariness lurked in her eyes. In reality, she remained constantly alert to Su Yao's every move, her nerves taut, not daring to relax for a moment.

Seeing this opportunity, Su Yao steeled her resolve, gritted her teeth, and a fierce glint flashed in her eyes. She suddenly exerted her strength and forcefully pushed Lin Qian's back. The push was extremely sudden, and Lin Qian was caught off guard. Her body lurched forward and instantly fell into the water with a "plop," splashing up a large spray of water. The water droplets sparkled under the sunlight.

However, Lin Qian was prepared. She knew Su Yao harbored ill intentions and had come to teach her a lesson. In the instant she fell into the water, she didn't panic. Instead, she deliberately stretched out a hand, seemingly trying to grab something on the shore for balance, but actually waiting for the right moment to grab Su Yao. When her hand touched Su Yao's arm, Lin Qian was secretly delighted. Without hesitation, she quickly grabbed Su Yao's arm and pulled hard. Su Yao had no time to react and was pulled forward by Lin Qian's force. Just like that, the two of them fell into the water together.

Caught completely off guard, Su Yao's eyes widened in terror the moment Lin Qian pulled her into the water, her face contorted with panic. She hadn't expected this at all, and her heart was filled with regret and fear. Just then, she noticed a barely perceptible smile playing on Lin Qian's lips, a smile that seemed to mock her foolishness and overestimation of her abilities. She instantly realized she had fallen for a trap, and a wave of despair washed over her.

Lin Qian and 003 communicated in their minds.

Lin Qian: "003, look at her pathetic state, she brought it on herself." Lin Qian's eyes held a hint of smugness and mockery, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, showing her disdain for Su Yao.
