The place was a mess. In the end, Di Xiu didn't make instant noodles again. He just ate compressed biscuits with a blank expression. The only improvement to his lunch was that he made a cup of Xiangpiaopiao milk tea.
The three girls looked at the instant noodle bowl next to him and felt inexplicably guilty.
Yan Jing's complexion had been poor since yesterday, and today she was even paler, looking weak and powerless. She was even trembling as she walked, and she hadn't participated in the fight.
In the morning, Mao Qiu approached Di Xiu, hoping to have lunch at the service area. Di Xiu agreed indifferently, thinking it would only mean eating an hour later. But then this happened.
They have always been quite self-disciplined and never troubled Di Xiu, nor did they dare to trouble him.
They only suggested it because they saw that Yan Jing was in so much pain. They wanted to get some hot water and some hot food for her, but they didn't try to gain sympathy; they just made a request.
Having traveled through five worlds, the latter knew what he should and shouldn't know. He glanced at Yan Jing, who was clutching her stomach and unable to straighten up, and understood. So he gave Mao Qiu a box of painkillers.
She said they had some, but didn't want them.
Di Xiu gave him a packet of brown sugar and a bag of goji berries, and Mao Qiu's gaze towards him immediately became complicated.
But it was no use giving it to them, there was no hot water.
Back to the present, the three of them hastily finished the rest of their noodles and stood across the table from Di Xiu, all looking like they had done something wrong: "I'm sorry."
Where did you go wrong?
After taking painkillers and drinking hot soup, Yan Jing's complexion improved slightly. Just as she was about to speak, Mao Qiu grasped her hand. The latter lowered his head and said sincerely, "I'm sorry for troubling you."
Di Xiu looked up and said calmly, "You can fight it yourselves next time."
The three girls' eyes lit up at the same time, and they quickly assured each other, "We will do our best to improve ourselves."
Di Xiu nodded slightly: "Half an hour of free time."
"Yes, sir."
001 watched them head towards the supermarket and said to Di Xiu, "They're quite nice girls, their personalities and character are impeccable. Should we mentor them?"
"Wait until things settle down."
With nothing else to do, 001 glanced at Ximen Hui's location again, then showed a map. There was a red line with a small portion solid and a large portion dashed. At the boundary between the solid and dashed lines, a large red dot was flashing.
About three centimeters away from the red dot, there is a white dot extending from which a dotted line intersects the red dotted line at a certain point, forming an angle of about thirty degrees.
"Based on our current speed, the speed of Simon Hui's team and their direction of travel, we should be able to meet them in Guangzhou in five days at the latest. We need to get off the highway tomorrow, otherwise we'll have to take a longer route."
001 clicked her tongue and complained, "He's so slow, even slower than you."
The highway conditions are really frustrating. A place that should normally take seven hours took Di Xiu ten days to reach, and that was only halfway there.
Actually, according to 001's calculations, it would be faster to take a shortcut off the highway, but the Imperial Army insisted on clearing out a road, which really took away the military's job.
The people who caught up later didn't thank him, which made 001 very unhappy.
"First, if I wanted people to thank me, I wouldn't have let you anonymously distribute cultivation techniques and body-refining skills."
001 was convinced.
Emperor Xiu also encountered the military, who said that the country needed strong individuals like him who were selfless and dedicated. He said he would consider it but declined.
In this life, I just want to be a free person.
The three girls were very aware of potential dangers even in times of peace. When the car stopped, they would find lone zombies to practice on and test their courage. Gradually, they began to take on the task of dealing with zombies while the Emperor was clearing the driveway.
Using speed and size advantages, dealing with a small number of zombies is actually quite easy.
The three girls browsed around the supermarket, filled their backpacks, and then went to the restroom together.
Someone tried to follow, but Di Xiu picked up the fork from his instant noodles and casually threw it at him. The plastic thing stuck into the tile. The person wiped away cold sweat, gave Di Xiu a fawning smile, and sat back down. The others didn't dare to make any more moves.
After using the restroom, the three said they were done and could leave, but Di Xiu suddenly asked Mao Qiu, "Can you heat up the water created by your superpower?"
Mao Qiu was taken aback. After thinking for a moment, he didn't dare to make a promise and could only say, "I'll give it a try."
As the four walked away, Di Xiu sensed something flying towards them from behind, and annoyance flashed in his eyes.
Yan Jing was very sensitive to the wind, and immediately summoned the wind, but felt an excessively strong wind sweep around the four of them, blowing the red thing back.
The crackling sound of firecrackers rang out, and the surroundings fell silent instantly.
Yan Jing was still wondering when her superpower had become so strong when her friends, who were half-supporting her on either side, pulled her and she immediately grabbed a hammer to defend herself, temporarily putting her doubts aside.
Di Xiu reached into his pocket with his left hand, and a stack of talismans appeared in his palm. An array surrounded them, concealing their presence.
Let's go.
Looking at the strangely floating talismans and the zombies that ignored them and rushed straight into the service area, Mao Qiu and the other two felt that another fantastical thing had been added to the world.
The sound of firecrackers continued behind them, accompanied by the excited howls of zombies and the miserable curses of the squad. The four of them returned safely to their parking spot.
If someone had stopped the firecrackers from being thrown, or spoken up to warn them... perhaps they could have saved their lives.
In the apocalypse, a cannibalistic apocalypse, people die over the smallest things.
Lying beside Di Xiu's car was a person who was transforming into a zombie. He was still somewhat conscious, and his fingernails had turned black. He unconsciously reached out to grab Di Xiu, but was kicked away.
Di Xiu removed the graffiti from the car window and stuffed it into his pocket.
They continued on their journey. How excited and curious the three girls were remained unknown, but they certainly couldn't ask Di Xiu about it.
