Chapter 173 The Green Hat Hero in the Apocalypse (13)

"We've finally, finally, finally off the highway!"

001 stuck his head out of the window, waved to the zombie brothers who were chasing the car with unusual flair, and shouted "Never see you again!" The zombie brothers reluctantly roared back.

“Little Xiu Xiu, look, look, he’s waving at me too.”

Di Xiu glanced at him in the rearview mirror, but didn't want to dampen his spirits, so he replied, "So happy to get off the highway?"

"Of course, this means we're closer to Simon Hui."

At this point, 001 suddenly became dejected, lowered his head and sighed, "We still haven't found a drug that can chemically castrate him, alas."

"I'll find a pig for you to castrate later."

001 immediately refused with a serious expression, saying, "There's no need for that."

There's a tollbooth right after you exit the highway, and a group of survivors are just a hundred meters away, but there's no sign of the area being cleared, which is quite baffling.

After some effort, Di Xiu and three others cleared a path. It was getting dark, and seven cars driven by survivors were parked downstairs at the nearest hotel—you could tell by the dust on the windshields and the cleanliness of the cars.

Di Xiu glanced at it as he passed by, his brow furrowing slightly. He didn't slow down and drove another 300 meters before stopping in front of a hotel.

The road was easier to walk on since someone had cleared it. After getting out of the car, Di Xiu put a defensive talisman on it and he and Mao Qiu and the others began to clean up their lodgings for the night.

As long as it's not the first floor, it's generally safe, since zombies these days don't climb stairs.

However, it is foreseeable that people who gradually lose their vigilance will suffer another loss in half a month.

Zombies retain and enhance their hearing and sense of smell, but lose their sight. In theory, survivors can turn on the lights without worry, but they may have to be wary of their fellow humans.

Not turning on the lights doesn't have a significant impact on people who aren't night-blind. People with superpowers receive comprehensive enhancements and can walk freely in the dark, while those without superpowers, after adapting to the darkness, aren't completely blind either.

Di Xiu stared expressionlessly at the faucet that wasn't dispensing a single drop of water. 001 quickly scanned it, blinked, and chuckled, "The water pump supplying this area is malfunctioning and hasn't been fixed yet."

He paused, then spread his hands: "Most of them won't continue repairing them. We always think we have too few people, not too many. The first batch of survivors has already arrived at the base, and some areas have already been abandoned."

The city they are in now is relatively remote compared to the survivor base. The group near the tollbooth is probably heading to one of the three large bases, which is why they are still here.

Di Xiu responded, took out a talisman, and was about to stick it on himself when he heard the sound of a door opening next door, the sound of shoes squeaking on the tiles, and the faint sound of liquid sloshing around, which continued all the way to his door before stopping.

He opened the door and came face to face with Mao Qiu, who was holding a basin of water in one hand and was about to knock.

The door opened unexpectedly, and Mao Qiu paused briefly before presenting the basin of water to Di Xiu: "Brother Wang, the water supply here is cut off. This is the water I collected today."

Di Xiu shook his head: "You can use it."

"Then you..."

Get some rest.

Mao Qiu stared blankly at the closed door, thinking to himself, "You don't want any water at all?" After waiting a while and seeing that he didn't open the door again, he took the basin of water and went back inside.

Di Xiu cleansed himself with a purification talisman and then went to bed to rest.

001 said softly, "I'll keep watch, you can sleep peacefully."

In the dead of night, three dark figures came from the direction of the toll station, quickly approaching and swiftly dealing with the zombies that were in their way. They crept closer to Di Xiu's SUV and, upon seeing a large box clearly visible in the back seat, immediately showed a look of craving.

The bamboo-like shadowy figure listened intently for a while, nodded to his companion, and went with the shortest one to fend off the zombies, while the other, a burly man, reached out and pressed his hand against the car door.

001 sat on the windowsill, activated his energy vision, and discovered that the dwarf seemed to also have hardening abilities, while the bamboo pole was clearly an enhanced hearing ability.

Then, upon seeing the burly, dark figure, golden energy appeared in his palm—the color of metal-based supernatural abilities—as he attempted to unlock the car.

Judging from his confident demeanor, he seems to be quite experienced.

001 looked at the three people with pity, thinking to himself, "Why did you have to steal from the one on the mission? You dared to leave it so openly at the door, you must be confident it won't be stolen."

If you don't stop in time, you'll end up like that person yesterday.

Five minutes later, Bamboo Pole and the Short Man dragged the burly figure, who was spitting blood and smoking, and ran away at full speed, with a group of zombies howling and chasing after them.

001 pursed her lips, then remembered Chu Rongrong and Ximen Hui. She glanced at it once and immediately turned it off. After realizing what had happened, she looked back at Di Xiu, but ultimately didn't open it again, nor did she have the courage to do so.

That Zhou Shuai is so ugly, and Ximen Hui is so slick.

He sat there blankly for a while, then suddenly shuddered, shattering and erasing that one second of memory.

By the window in the next room, three heads were huddled together. One of them had eyes that seemed to glow in the night. After the thief who tried to steal something ran away, he turned around, sat down against the wall, and began to whisper among himself.

Mao Qiu asked in a low voice, "Yao'er, did you see what happened?"

An Yao put eye drops in her eyes, closed them, and nodded: "I could see a transparent film on the car, which blocked the tall guy's superpower and allowed him to fight back."

"Even though I saw it yesterday, I still have to say, it's so cool."

Yan Jing pondered for a moment and said, "So the reason why the zombies didn't attack us at night when we were sleeping outdoors wasn't a coincidence, but because Brother Wang secretly intervened?"
