Chapter 72 Safe and Sound

Chapter 72 Safe and Sound

Ji Dashan also received the news and rushed to the hospital from the military camp.

"Wife, is our son alright?" Ji Dashan rushed over without stopping, his face flushed and panting heavily.

When Zheng Xiuhua saw him, it was as if she had seen her pillar of support. "Old Ji."

She had barely uttered two words when she broke down in tears again.

Just then, the operating room door opened, and the doctor came out and asked, "Who are the child's parents?"

"we are."

Ji Dashan helped his wife forward.

Seeing their condition, the doctor comforted them, saying, "The child is fine. Luckily you brought him in time. He'll wake up soon. He's been frightened, so he should go home and rest."

"Okay, we understand, thank you doctor."

Niu Niu was quickly wheeled out and taken to a ward. Seeing that the child was alright, Lu Mingyue decided not to stay at the hospital and disturb the family's time together, and said goodbye.

"Sister-in-law Zheng, Huo Zheng and I will head back first. We won't bother you any longer. If you need any help, please feel free to come to me anytime."

Lu Mingyue turned to leave, but Zheng Xiuhua hurriedly called out to him, "Mingyue, thank you so much for today, Huo Zheng. If it weren't for you, I really don't know what the consequences would be."

Her voice was choked with emotion, and her eyes were full of gratitude.

Lu Mingyue smiled and waved her hand, "We're all family, let's not talk about these things, taking good care of the child is the most important thing."

Ji Dashan also expressed his gratitude.

Huo Zheng patted him on the shoulder.

After the two left, Zheng Xiuhua sat by her son's bedside, still feeling lingering fear.

Lu Mingyue and her husband parted ways at the crossroads. Huo Zheng had to return to the military camp, while she went to pick up her brother and sister and take them home.

I left in a hurry, and asked Zhu Xiaofang to take care of my two children.

Before we even reached her doorstep, we saw the children sitting and waiting there.

"Mother."

Yao Yao was the first to see her mother. Her eyes lit up, and she threw away the branch she was holding, running towards her mother like a happy little bird.

Lu Mingyue squatted down, hugged her daughter tightly, and looked her over carefully. She noticed that there was mud on her trouser legs, so she helped her pat it clean.

"Were you a good girl at your aunt's house?"

Yao Yao nodded vigorously and chattered, "I was very good, I even helped Auntie sweep the floor."

Leilei, a step behind his younger sister, said helplessly upon hearing her words, "You almost swept away all the seafood that Auntie was drying."

Yao Yao scratched her head sheepishly, "I didn't notice."

Mingming ran over too, staring at her expectantly, "Auntie, where's my brother?"

Lu Mingyue realized he was talking about Niu Niu, so she patted his hair and said, "Brother Niu Niu is alright now. He'll be able to play with you guys again in a few days."

"How are you? Is the child alright?"

When Zhu Xiaofang realized the child was missing, she went outside and discovered that Lu Mingyue had returned.

"It's nothing serious, the doctor said to get plenty of rest."

"That's good."

Zhu Xiaofang breathed a sigh of relief.

"Come in and have a seat."

Lu Mingyue wanted to ask the children what happened back then, how they ended up falling into the sea for no reason.

The children looked at each other, and finally Leilei stood up and said, "We saw a really big crab under the rocks. Niu Niu and I went down to look for it, but the big crab ran into the sea. Niu Niu followed, and he was swept away by the sea."

He was terrified at the time, but after he came to his senses, he immediately called for help.

Although Niu Niu can swim, he is slow to react to sudden situations.

After all, he's still young, still a child.

"This was too dangerous. Fortunately, Comrade Huo arrived in time."

Zhu Xiaofang held her son tightly in her arms, not daring to think about what would happen if something were to happen to her child.

"Mother."

She clearly felt her mother's trembling body and called her name softly.

Zhu Xiaofang: “In the past, there were accidents involving children in the family compound and in nearby villages, especially in the hot summer. Everyone always thought about going to the sea to cool off, but forgot about the potential dangers.”

Because of this, the residential compound has held several meetings to remind everyone not to cause irreparable damage just for a moment of coolness.

After this incident, Lu Mingyue felt that she should put learning to swim on her agenda.

The two children aren't very good swimmers, so it wouldn't hurt for them to learn more skills.

Zhu Xiaofang's heart stirred slightly upon hearing her words: "I also want to learn, but..."

She paused, then sighed helplessly, "I always feel like I don't have time because I have to take care of the children and do housework."

Lu Mingyue thought for a moment and suggested, "Let's set a time, when the weather is fine, and go to the beach to learn to swim."

Before the weather turns cold, learn to swim in advance so you don't miss the opportunity in winter.

Zhu Xiaofang's eyes lit up, and she nodded with a smile: "Okay! You'll have to teach me properly then."

Lu Mingyue helplessly spread her hands and smiled, "I don't know either."

I still need the help of two men in my family to learn to swim.

Lu Mingyue held one child in each hand and walked slowly along the path back to the village.

As she turned the corner, she saw Shen Baoqin walking towards her with her bag on her back.

Leilei immediately gripped her hand tightly, and instinctively stepped forward to shield his mother behind him.

"Mom, be careful."

He lowered his voice and stared at Shen Baoqin warily, like a little adult.

Shen Baoqin merely glanced at them coldly, her expression remaining cold, and without even stopping, she strode past them.

After she walked away, Lei Lei slowly lowered his arm, but still looked back with some unease.

"Is she going to yell at you?" Lei Lei asked in a low voice.

Lu Mingyue was taken aback for a moment, then squatted down to look at Leilei: "Why would you say that?"

Lei Lei pursed his lips, thought seriously for a moment, and then said, "I saw her standing with my mother before, and she had a very long face and said some unpleasant things."

Yao Yao added, "Like the donkey from Xiao Miao's family."

Leilei nodded in strong agreement.

Lu Mingyue was amused by the two children, "We can talk about these things in private."

She was afraid that if she said it in front of Shen Baoqin, her two children would be beaten.

It's just too heartbreaking.

Taking her two children home, and remembering that Zheng Xiuhua's family was still in the hospital, Lu Mingyue cooked some food and delivered it to them.

Zheng Xiuhua was deeply moved. Although the food was inexpensive, the sentiment behind it was truly precious.

In the evening, after Huo Zheng arrived home, Lu Mingyue thought about the strange behavior of Shen Baoqin when they met, and felt that this person seemed to have changed.

Huo Zheng held her hand and said, "No matter what she does, if you feel uncomfortable, tell me and I'll talk to the political commissar."

His sudden movement startled Lu Mingyue, but she didn't pull her hand back; perhaps this was a small step forward for the two of them.

Huo Zheng's tone carried an undeniable protectiveness: "My wife, Huo Zheng's wife, cannot be bullied by others."

Lu Mingyue felt a warm current envelop her heart, her nose tingled slightly, but she couldn't help but smile: "I'm fine, don't go to the political commissar over such a small matter."

Huo Zheng raised an eyebrow: "This is no small matter for me."
