The bullet didn't pierce Nanzhi's head; she tilted her head slightly, and the bullet grazed just above her ear.
Blood trickled down Nanzhi's cheek. She turned back to look at him blankly, and in that instant, Ji Yuan seemed to see her normal pupils and the glistening tears in them.
Her lips moved, as if to say...
"Ouch, it hurts so much, Professor..."
She gave him a weak smile, then leaned back and plunged into the deep sea.
Ji Yuan's eyes widened in fury: "Zhizhi—"
As he watched this scene, at the spreading bloodstains on the ground, and at the rippling water, a sharp pain gripped his heart, causing his entire body to tremble uncontrollably.
He tried to run forward to save her, but his legs seemed to have a mind of their own, and he fell to the ground in a sorry state.
The sun slowly rose from the sea, the water and sky merging into one, what a beautiful scene, yet he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
He shouldn't have brought her out!
We shouldn't have let her get involved in these dangers!
Ji Yuan tried several times to get up from the ground and jump into the sea to save her, but each time the vice captain held him back.
"Professor, please calm down!"
calm?
He can't calm down!
Seeing that he couldn't control the situation, the deputy captain quickly took out a sedative from his clothes and injected it into the back of Ji Yuan's neck.
Ji Yuan then calmed down, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
The deputy captain ordered his men to take him back to the car, and also tied up Ji Ting, who was taken back with them.
As they left, the vice-captain glanced at the now calm seawater, but could see nothing except for the floating and spreading bloodstains.
Having suffered so many injuries, even the strongest creature would perish if it fell into this sea.
What a lovely little zombie, she doesn't eat people, why can't this world tolerate her?
The vice-captain sighed and ordered the team to retreat.
Ji Yuan had an extremely painful dream.
In the dream, Nanzhi was blaming him.
"Professor, I don't want to leave you, why are you sending me away?"
"Professor, you lied to me. You said you wouldn't leave me alone again..."
"Professor, it hurts so much..."
The boundless sea, and the tears in her eyes as she fell, seemed to weigh him down like a giant mountain.
He was trapped in the dream, trapped in that moment of pain and regret, unable to wake up.
"Professor, Professor Ji..."
Ji Yuan was taken to a hospital ward after he returned.
After treating his abrasions, the doctor examined his condition.
He didn't have any internal injuries, but he just wouldn't wake up no matter how much they called him.
Seeing the tears welling up in his eyes, everyone felt quite heavy-hearted.
Professor Ji has always been calm and composed within the J organization, as if no one can stir any emotion within him.
When they learned about his relationship with Nanzhi, everyone was shocked and found it hard to accept at first.
But after spending time with Nanzhi, he realized that she was no different from a normal person.
Nan Zhi's arrival made Ji Yuan truly happy and brought everyone hope for survival.
It's heartbreaking to see it all gone like this.
"The professor has been asleep for three days. If he doesn't wake up soon, something bad will happen. We have to wake him up."
The doctors discussed what to do.
Despite trying every possible method, they were unable to wake him up.
Later, a doctor suddenly thought, "Surveillance footage can be stored for a long time, right? Let's pull up the footage of that little zombie and play it for the professor. Maybe he'll wake up."
This method worked well. When they found the video, Ji Yuan heard Nan Zhi's voice and woke up.
He pressed his temples, stared at the video recording on his phone on the bedside table, paused for a moment, then, ignoring his headache, grabbed it.
The surveillance footage showed Nanzhi accompanying him as he conducted experiments in the laboratory.
At first, she was very curious and looked around everywhere.
"Professor, what is this?"
"Professor, what's in this bottle is terrifying."
"Professor, professor..."
Seeing this scene, Ji Yuan felt an even stronger pain in his heart.
His eyes were red as he looked at the crowd around him, who were overjoyed that he had woken up.
"And her?"
No one spoke.
Ji Yuan threw off the covers, got out of bed, and walked out in his slippers.
During the few days that Ji Yuan was asleep, the J organization had quickly taken control of the Eternal Base, and most of its members were overjoyed.
The deputy captain was at the Eternal Base leading his men to imprison all those who followed Ji Ting when he received a call from Ji Yuan.
"Bring all the diving team members and come meet me."
The vice-captain did not expect that Ji Yuan, after waking up, would still go to find Nan Zhi.
He quickly notified people and arrived at the vicinity of the sea area where the incident had occurred in Nam Gyi.
In just three days, Ji Yuan looked much more haggard.
The newly grown stubble, the scratches on his cheeks from jumping off the plane, and the nonchalant way he stepped through the mud—all of this seemed to make him seem like a completely different person from the previously obsessive-compulsive Professor Ji.
Ji Yuan put on his diving suit and jumped into the spot where Nan Zhi had fallen into the water without hesitation.
Everyone knows that this is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Namgyal has either sunk into the deep sea, been swept away to other places, or has already been swallowed by those terrible creatures of the seabed.
In short, her chances of survival are almost zero.
But Ji Yuan stubbornly continued his search.
Even though the pressure at the bottom of the sea made it hard to breathe, he still desperately tried to dive deeper into the ocean.
No one could withstand such immense pressure. Seeing him so obsessed and seemingly driven mad, the vice-captain had no choice but to pull him back up.
After catching his breath, Ji Yuan wanted to put on oxygen and continue.
