Chapter 292 Delivering Chicken Soup

On the other end of the voice call, Xu Xingran gagged again, and then the call ended.

Pei Zhi was still hesitating about whether to go or not, but after seeing the end of the call on her phone, she put on her coat, picked up her car keys, and prepared to leave.

The maid downstairs was busy in the kitchen. When she saw Pei Zhi come downstairs, she quickly came over to greet her.

"Mr. Pei, is there anything you need that you've come down so late?"

What's cooking in the kitchen?

The maid glanced at the kitchen. "Young Master Huo just called down and said he was hungry. The kitchen is making him crab roe noodles."

"Is there chicken soup in the kitchen?"

Pei Zhi remembered that it wasn't good to eat crab roe while she was pregnant.

"Yes, Mr. Pei, would you like some?"

"No, make me a bowl of noodles with chicken broth, put it in a thermos, and I'll take it with me."

The maid immediately went to the kitchen to get busy, while Pei Zhi sat on the sofa in the living room, closing her eyes to rest.

"What are you doing here so late at night instead of going to sleep?"

Pei Zhi opened her eyes. "Dad, why aren't you asleep yet?"

"I was so angry last night that I didn't eat, and now I can't sleep. I got up to see if there's anything to eat."

Pei's father waited for Huo Jiayuan to return that night, and he waited on an empty stomach the whole time.

Thinking of his daughter working overtime at the company while Huo Jiayuan was enjoying himself outside, Huo Jiayuan realized that his daughter was working overtime at the company.

Pei's father was so angry that he couldn't eat anything.

Pei Zhi chuckled and said, "Dad, you don't need to be so harsh on him, and don't joke around with your own health."

Mr. Pei sighed, "I'm just concerned about you. I'm thinking about how hard you work, and all he does is spend money. A car costs over a hundred million, and you're willing to give it to him?"

Pei's father learned that Huo Jiayuan's new sports car was worth over 100 million yuan, a gift from Pei Zhi, after being instigated by Qu Miaoyu.

Huo Jiayuan drives around every day to show off and have fun.

Pei Zhi works so hard to earn money that she doesn't get home until this late every day.

Pei Zhi was too embarrassed to say that this was a gift she gave to Huo Jiayuan as compensation for being caught red-handed by him.

"Are you hungry too? Shall we have the kitchen prepare something for you?"

Pei Zhi shook her head: "It wasn't me."

That evening, Pei Zhi attended a banquet and wasn't hungry at all.

"Could it be that Huo Jiayuan is hungry?"

Before Pei Zhi could speak, her father said angrily, "He's so inconsiderate! You've been busy all day, and he doesn't even let you rest. It's really unacceptable."

As soon as Pei's father finished speaking, a servant came over with a thermos.

"Sir, the chicken noodle soup is ready."

"Okay, thank you for your help."

The maid repeatedly said it was no trouble, and then went upstairs to deliver crab roe noodles to Huo Jiayuan.

Pei Zhi carried the thermos. "Dad, I'm going out for a bit. After you've eaten, get some rest. You're getting old, so don't stay up too late."

"Wait a moment." Pei's father reached out and stopped Pei Zhi, who was about to leave.

Pei's father glanced at the clock hanging in the hall, then at Pei Zhi carrying a thermos.

"You're delivering noodles to someone so late at night?"

It's so late, who is worth Pei Zhi making a special trip for?

"Um."

A bad feeling crept into Pei's father's heart. "Weren't you outside...?"

Mr. Pei lowered his voice, "You just got married, you wouldn't have caused such an embarrassing incident, would you?"

Pei Zhi had nothing to hide from her father.

“He’s pregnant with my child and hasn’t eaten all day. I have to go see him.”

Pei's father gasped, "You're really going to die. You're living a perfectly good life and instead you're out there messing around."

Pei's father slapped Pei Zhi hard, "What's so good about those wild men outside?"

"If word gets out that you've done this, I'll lose all face."

"Dad, you can scold him later. I'll take it to him first, or the noodles will get cold."

Pei's father called out twice, but Pei Zhi left without turning her head.

Pei's father could only sigh helplessly; what Pei Zhi had done was simply too absurd.

The house where Xu Xingran lived was arranged by Pei Zhi.

Pei Zhi didn't knock; she just entered the password and went in.

Xu Xingran lay in bed unable to sleep, holding her phone and wondering whether she should send a message to Pei Zhi.

I wanted to send it, but I was afraid of bothering Pei Zhi.

The next second, the door was suddenly opened, and the room lights came on.

Pei Zhi waved the thermos in her hand, "I've brought you a midnight snack."

Xu Xingran stared blankly at Pei Zhi, then excitedly climbed out of bed, rushed into Pei Zhi's arms, and hugged her tightly.

Xu Xingran asked, her voice choked with emotion, "Why are you here?"

"I heard you haven't eaten all day, I'm a little worried."

Pei Zhi thought for a moment and then added, "Don't be too touched. I'm mainly worried about the baby in your belly."

"Okay, okay." Xu Xingran nudged Pei Zhi's shoulder. "The baby is so tiny, what's there to worry about?"

"Alright, put on your shoes and come out for noodles."

Pei Zhi turned and went to the kitchen, took out a bowl and chopsticks, and poured out the noodles.

Xu Xingran put on her shoes, sat at the dining table, and took the chopsticks that Pei Zhi handed her.

Xu Xingran looked at Pei Zhi with emotion: "It smells so good, did you make it?"

Pei Zhi avoided the topic, saying, "You should eat quickly."

Pei Zhi suspected that Xu Xingran was probably still half asleep when she asked someone worth hundreds of billions to cook for her.

But at this moment, Pei Zhi didn't need to pour cold water on the idea.

Having created such a wonderful atmosphere, Pei Zhi saw no need to spoil the mood.

The chicken soup was simmered by the family's maid for a long time and tasted delicious.

The noodles were in a thermos, and they were a little soggy.

But Xu Xingran ate it all up; to him, it was more than just a bowl of chicken noodle soup.

Rather, Xu Xingran naturally had to accept Pei Zhi's feelings for him.

"Are you full?"

Xu Xingran nodded, "I'm a little stuffed."

Pei Zhi glanced at her watch; it was already 2 a.m.

"I'll chat with you for a bit, then I have to go back."

Xu Xingran was a little disappointed. "You can't stay here tonight? I miss you so much."

Xu Xingran paused, then added, "The baby in my belly misses you too."

Pei Zhi walked over, squatted down in front of Xu Xingran, and gently patted Xu Xingran's stomach.

"It's too far from the company. I have an important meeting tomorrow morning. If I get stuck in traffic and am late, it will be a big problem."

After Pei Zhi finished speaking, she whispered to Xu Xingran's belly, "You should be good too, don't make any more noise."

Xu Xingran has been feeling somewhat lost lately. He doesn't know if his behavior is wrong.

Even though she knew Pei Zhi was married, she still wanted to keep the child.

Is it really good if the child is born without a complete family?

Seeing Pei Zhi's gentle demeanor, Xu Xingran suddenly felt that everything was worthwhile.

"Don't come so late next time. It's too dangerous for you to drive after a long day at work."

Xu Xingran held Pei Zhi's hand and said, "I will take good care of myself and the child. Come and visit me when you have time."

Pei Zhixin said with relief, "You're so good."

I wish my spouse was this sensible.
