Chapter 161 A Marriage of Convenience Turns into Love with the Second Male Detective (8)

Mu Wenxi looked up and noticed that the light in Xi Changye's room seemed to still be on.

She knocked on Xi Changye's door: "Xi Changye, is there food downstairs? Would you like to eat some together?"

Xi Changye shook his head: "I forgot to call you. They usually don't bother us. They just leave the food on as soon as it's ready. You can eat by yourself today. I'm not hungry yet."

Mu Wenxi: "Okay, I'll eat by myself first."

Xi Changye: "Hmm."

The next morning, as soon as Mu Wenxi went downstairs, she saw Xi Changye tinkering with something in the kitchen.

Xi Changye noticed the movement and turned around: "You're awake?"

Mu Wenxi: "What are you doing?"

Xi Changye: "Breakfast."

Mu Wenxi chuckled: "Of course I know you made breakfast."

Xi Changye also found it somewhat amusing, his eyes narrowing, making him look even more like a fox.

Mu Wenxi: "You actually make your own breakfast!"

Xi Changye: "Why can't I make my own breakfast?"

Mu Wenxi: "You don't look like it."

Because Xi Changye was so exquisitely handsome and otherworldly, in Mu Wenxi's mind, he was full of mystery and nobility. Even though they had known each other for so many years, to be honest, Mu Wenxi knew very little about him. Most of what she saw was the side of Xi Changye that he was willing to show her.

Mu Wenxi pulled out a chair and sat down. Xi Changye handed Mu Wenxi the keys: "There's a car in the garage. If you need to go out alone next time, you can drive mine."

Mu Wenxi: "Okay, but I have my own car."

Xi Changye: "I'll see you off today."

Seemingly realizing that his words had a somewhat commanding tone, Xi Changye changed his tone: "Can I pick you up and drop you off every day from now on?"

Mu Wenxi: "It's okay, I can go by myself. Aren't you busy with work?"

Xi Changye shook his head: "It's alright, I'm not too busy."

Mu Wenxi took a sip of porridge: "Then you can just take me there, you don't need to pick me up, as long as you don't find it troublesome."

Xi Changye: "No trouble at all."

Mu Wenxi didn't know that this had nothing to do with being busy or not. He was giving her the gift in the best way possible. Many people didn't know they were married yet, but the news would soon spread throughout the entire circle.

Mu Wenxi will face many unimaginable dangers.

The two finished their breakfast quietly. For some reason, they had been feeling very awkward ever since they got their marriage certificate, and they didn't know how to get along with each other now that they had a different identity.

The atmosphere inside the car was somewhat quiet.

Mu Wenxi thought for a moment and said, "Aye, how about we start by being friends? I don't know why, but lately I've been unsure how to interact with you, and we're not as close as we used to be."

Xi Changye paused for a moment, then said, "Okay, I'll listen to you."

As Xi Changye watched Mu Wenxi walk into the office building, he instructed his men, "Send a few people to protect her."

After getting off work, Mu Wenxi went to Xi Changye's bar: "Where's A-Ye?"

"Hello, Miss Mu, the boss is upstairs."

Mu Wenxi nodded and walked up. It was a bit dark along the way. She approached Xi Changye's office and knocked on the door.

A somewhat hoarse voice came from inside: "Come in."

Mu Wenxi opened the door and went inside. Xi Changye was facing away from the door, looking out the window. His back looked somewhat lonely.

Mu Wenxi: "Are you in a bad mood?"

Upon hearing the voice, Xi Changye immediately turned around and shook his head: "You've come?"

Mu Wenxi sat down: "Um, do you still have work? I'll wait for you here."

Xi Changye: "Okay."

Mu Wenxi felt something was strange. Over the years, all she knew was that Xi Changye had opened a bar. She did her work on the side, occasionally stealing a glance at Xi Changye, who seemed to be doing something.

She was a little curious, but seeing how focused the other person was, she didn't want to disturb them. She got up and took out her favorite drinks from the refrigerator next to her. The refrigerator was full. She hadn't thought much about it before, but now she realized that Xi Changye must have prepared them especially for her.

Xi Changye noticed her gaze and let her probe, but he didn't tell her anything. There were some things he didn't want Mu Wenxi to know.

Xi Changye finished his work without stopping, and when he looked up, he saw Mu Wenxi asleep on the sofa.

Xi Changye's eyes softened instantly: "You really have no sense of caution at all."

He walked to the sofa in a few steps, signaled his subordinates to keep quiet, and was about to bend down to pick up Mu Wenxi and carry her out of the room when Mu Wenxi was awakened by his touch.

She got up and rubbed her eyes: "Ah Ye, are you alright? I just fell asleep."

Xi Changye hadn't heard this address in a long time, and his tone became even gentler: "Did I wake you up? Let's go back to sleep."

Mu Wenxi yawned: "Okay."

Looking at her sleepy appearance, Xi Changye said, "You don't need to wait for me next time. You can go home first."

He belonged to the night, while Mu Wenxi probably belonged to the day. She was always full of energy during the day, while he was full of murderous intent at night.

Mu Wenxi: "Okay, but I don't have anything else to do anyway, so I want to keep you company."

Xi Changye had always indulged her: "Hmm, whatever you want."

Mu Wenxi kept her promise and returned to the villa after work, not wanting to disturb Xi Changye's work. The villa was deserted, and sure enough, Xi Changye had not returned home yet.

She took out a book and started reading, thinking about waiting on the sofa until the long night passed, but unexpectedly, she fell asleep on the sofa after feeling a little sleepy.

Late at night, Xi Changye finished his work and rushed home. The villa, which used to be pitch black, had a few lights on today. Thinking of Mu Wenxi, Xi Changye became more awake.

He was exhausted, but that feeling vanished the moment he entered the living room and saw the person on the sofa. Mu Wenxi lay quietly on his side on the sofa, his eyes closed, his breathing steady, and there was an open book beside him.

The once empty living room felt less cold and more warm and lively now that Mu Wenxi's things were there.

Xi Changye stared at her intently for a while, then quietly returned to his room, taking off his dark suit jacket, which appeared to have bloodstains on the outside.

He washed his hands as if to wash away the filth, and looking at himself in the mirror, Xi Changye felt a sense of disgust for his previous life.

He wiped his hands clean before bending down to pick up Mu Wenxi and carry her to her room. The person in his arms was very thin and light. He carefully placed Mu Wenxi on the bed.

Mu Wenxi was sleeping soundly and was not awakened by his movements, or perhaps he had gotten used to the man's presence.

He tucked the blanket around her, then turned and left, returning to his own room. He opened a drawer to light a cigarette, but then remembered something and closed it. He walked to Mu Wenxi's room, looking at the sleeping person on the bed, and calmed down a bit.

He leaned against the door and stared at it for a long time, his fierce aura diminishing considerably.
