Jiaqi suddenly remembered something and said, "I remember now, when I said I wanted to take pictures, Xiaxia said she wanted me to take a set of horror-themed pictures for her."
Dong Lihua: "No way, I'm a little scared. Do we really have to go in and see?"
Mu Wenxi: "Go."
Dong Lihua immediately moved closer to Mu Wenxi's left side, and Li Na also quietly put her arm around Shen Jiaqi's arm.
Mu Wenxi pursed her lips, looking a little nervous. Xiao Chang'an glanced at her and knew she was scared again. He held Mu Wenxi's hand tightly and said, "I'm here, nothing will happen."
Mu Wenxi: "Hmm."
The four people walked towards the haunted house.
The haunted house is shaped like a crooked two-story wooden cabin with a triangular roof instead of a flat one.
After climbing two steps and pushing open a small door in the wall, Mu Wenxi found herself in a long, dark alley. Her eyes hadn't adjusted to the darkness quickly enough when she felt herself being pushed out. Startled, Mu Wenxi called out to those behind her, "Don't push me!"
Dong Lihua: "I didn't push it."
Li Na: "No one's pushing me, I'm just walking slowly."
Mu Wenxi took out a flashlight and shone it forward. There were several lights in the passageway, but they were no longer lit. There were also some small holes on the wall at a height of about Mu Wenxi's, and he didn't know what they were for.
After turning the first corner, there was a swaying bridge ahead, with some dark water beneath it. Li Na held onto the rope on the bridge and looked into the water. Her reflection was on the surface. She shone her flashlight on it, but the reflection disappeared. She moved the flashlight away, but the reflection remained motionless.
Li Na was clearly moving, but the more she looked at the motionless reflection, the stranger it seemed. Suddenly, the reflection stretched out a hand to grab her. She screamed and quickly caught up with Mu Wenxi and the others. The bridge behind her began to shake violently. When she turned around, there was nothing unusual.
The group was already frightened when they heard Li Na's shout, and they were even more startled now.
Shen Jiaqi: "Is Nana alright?"
Mu Wenxi: "What's wrong?"
Li Na: "I just saw something in the water."
Dong Lihua: "Could I have misread it?"
Li Na remained silent.
After crossing the floating bridge, the group entered a room. There were eight beds on both sides of the room, each covered with a white sheet. There were even props for IV drips by the window.
Shen Jiaqi became increasingly frightened: "Could this be a morgue? Hehe."
Li Na approached the group and said, "They do look somewhat alike."
Dong Lihua: "Don't overthink it, the more you think about it, the scarier you'll get."
Mu Wenxi carefully lifted the blanket on one of the beds. Underneath the blanket was a very obvious mannequin, so fake it was almost ridiculous; it didn't even have hair.
As the group was complaining that the haunted house was ridiculously fake, a clanging sound came from afar.
Li Na immediately turned around and looked around: "You all heard that sound, didn't you?"
Shen Jiaqi: "What is that sound?"
The color drained from their faces, and they stood frozen in place, unsure of what to do. Dong Lihua looked at the hospital bed beside her. Suddenly, without warning, she threw off the sheet and rolled onto the bed: "Quick, hide!"
Seeing Dong Lihua's outrageous actions, the others actually followed suit and lay down next to the mannequin on the hospital bed.
After thinking for a moment, Mu Wenxi did not lie on the hospital bed like them. Instead, he crawled under the bed and hung his hands and feet on the bars under the bed. The dangling sheets just covered Mu Wenxi's body.
Mu Wenxi said to Xiao Chang'an, "If I can't hold on any longer, you'd better grab me."
Xiao Chang'an: "Okay."
The sound of the bell grew closer, and everyone held their breath.
A minute later, the bell stopped at the door of the morgue. Mu Wenxi peeked through the crack and saw a pair of red embroidered shoes at the door. Mu Wenxi wanted to move her gaze upwards to see who was playing tricks.
Dong Lihua was both nervous and curious. As the bell rang closer, she quickly held her breath, closed her eyes tightly, and tried to convince herself, "There's no ghost, there's no ghost."
After a while, the owner of the bell moved again. She looked around the morgue, lingered in front of each person's bed for a while, and then walked out through the same entrance.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Except for Mu Wenxi, her mind was still on the owner of the red embroidered shoes. She was a pale-faced but exceptionally beautiful woman wearing a red wedding dress. She was slender and graceful, and walked with the quiet elegance of a lady from a noble family.
Except for the bells on her feet.
Mu Wenxi could feel the woman's bone-chilling cold. Before she could continue to think, feeling Xiao Chang'an supporting her from under the bed, Mu Wenxi came to her senses, let go of her hand, and crawled out from under the bed.
Xiao Chang'an: "She's gone, everything's alright."
Mu Wenxi: "Hmm."
Dong Lihua got out of bed and immediately went to her friends to huddle together for warmth.
Li Na: "That was amazing, I was really scared just now, I thought she was going to lift the sheets."
Shen Jiaqi: "Me too, so I kept my eyes closed the whole time."
Dong Lihua: "I didn't expect Wen Xi to be hiding under the bed. You've held out for so long, impressive."
Mu Wenxi: "I just saw her face."
Li Na: "What?"
Shen Jiaqi: "What does she look like?"
Mu Wenxi: "She's very pretty. I hope she's a good ghost."
Dong Lihua: "You're amazing that you weren't scared to death."
Mu Wenxi shook his head: "I almost stopped breathing, if it weren't for..."
Li Na: "Not what?"
Mu Wenxi: "It's okay, let's keep going and find Xiaxia as soon as possible."
The four continued walking forward, and the surrounding environment was arranged to resemble hell. In the center was a sculpture of Yama, flanked by the Black and White Impermanence, their long tongues hanging on the ground. There were also various torture devices on the side, with the words "Eighteen Levels of Hell" written on it.
Xiao Chang'an followed Mu Wenxi around, looking at the surroundings, but couldn't help but laugh out loud. Mu Wenxi looked at him in confusion.
Hsiao Chang-an: "I was just thinking, if they knew that this was their image among the people, would they be unable to resist coming up and causing trouble for humans?"
Mu Wenxi shrugged. She didn't know either, since she had never met these people before.
Hsiao Chang-an: "I'll introduce you to him when I have the chance."
Mu Wenxi shook her head in shock, hugged herself tightly, and took a few steps away from Xiao Chang'an: "I don't want to see him."
Who would want to see a ghost?
Xiao Chang'an moved closer to Mu Wenxi: "Fine, if we don't want to see each other, then we won't."
Mu Wenxi quickly lowered her hands, afraid that her behavior would attract the attention of her friends. She then quickly shut her mouth. Fortunately, everyone else was immersed in fear and no one paid attention to her talking to herself.
Dong Lihua looked around and couldn't help but comment, "This haunted house is so strange, it has both Chinese horror and Western horror."
