The chemistry teacher couldn't wait any longer and called out Mu Wenxi by name: "Mu Wenxi, how can you be so shameless? You plagiarized and still won't admit it."
Mu Wenxi, who was called on, remained seated and said calmly, "I did not plagiarize."
The other students were somewhat surprised and turned to look at her sitting at the back of the class. They didn't expect it to be Mu Wenxi.
The chemistry teacher further questioned, "Do you dare say you did this perfect score yourself? You haven't passed a single test since the start of the semester, and you're telling me you did this perfect score yourself?"
Mu Wenxi was somewhat helpless. It wasn't her fault that the original owner didn't do well on the test: "I did it myself. I hadn't gotten a perfect score before, but I've always studied hard and accumulated knowledge. Besides, your question wasn't difficult; it was all basic questions."
The chemistry teacher roared, as if his voice was about to crack, "You're absolutely incorrigible! Your grades are already terrible, and now you're plagiarizing?"
Mu Wenxi said impatiently, "Then tell me whose work I copied. Does anyone in our class get a perfect score?"
Li Qiang laughed: "Mu Wenxi, you're so stupid, you plagiarized and you even got a perfect score."
Several classmates around him chuckled, looking on with amusement.
The chemistry teacher walked up to her, still not believing her and even convinced that she had the answer: "Do you have the answer? Show it to me."
Mu Wenxi sat in her chair, looking up at the chemistry teacher, her voice devoid of any panic: "I'll say it again, I didn't plagiarize. You can check the security footage. Are the security cameras in our classroom just for show?"
Just then, the math teacher finished packing her bag and passed by the classroom. She noticed that the students hadn't left yet. Hearing the chemistry teacher and Wen Xi talking, she went in and asked, "What's wrong? Why aren't you all home yet?"
Chemistry teacher Li said sarcastically, "Teacher Zhu, your good student cheated on the chemistry exam and got a hundred points but still refuses to admit it. Did she cheat on her math exam too?"
Mu Wenxi's voice was firm: "I did not plagiarize. This has nothing to do with Teacher Zhu. You don't need to be sarcastic. If you say I plagiarized, then provide evidence. Otherwise, it's a case of 'innocent until proven guilty'."
The other students didn't expect Mu Wenxi to dare to confront the teacher head-on, but no one was willing to stand up and testify for Mu Wenxi.
Math teacher Zhu was a little unhappy: "Teacher Li, Mu said she didn't plagiarize, and I believe her. Are you misunderstanding something? You can't wrong a student about this kind of thing."
Chemistry teacher: "Isn't a perfect score of 100 the proof? You believe her, but what good does it do? And you call it an injustice? Doesn't she know what her usual test scores are? With her brain, she thinks she can get a perfect score of 100? She seems pretty well-behaved, but I never expected her to be this kind of person."
Mu Wenxi was a little angry; this was a personal attack: "I said we could check the surveillance footage. As a teacher, is it proper for you to frame a student based on subjective will without any evidence?"
The chemistry teacher, enraged, blurted out, "What did you say? You're saying I have no responsibility as a teacher? It's clearly you who are morally corrupt, cheating and disrespecting your teacher."
Mu Wenxi still didn't understand why the other party couldn't believe that she got a perfect score on her own test, even though she had never passed her usual grades. Was it not allowed for someone to work hard and suddenly have a breakthrough?
Besides, there are people who usually fail every subject, but suddenly their grades improve, and others think they are hiding their true abilities.
The math class representative recalled how diligently Wen Xi did her homework and took exams: "Teacher, I think we should check the surveillance footage first to determine if the other person cheated, otherwise it would be a false accusation."
The chemistry teacher, his face flushed, was about to utter a sarcastic remark when a cold, stern voice came from outside the door.
"I didn't expect your school's faculty to be like this?"
Fu Yiwei had just finished talking to the principal about Wen Xi's transfer and wanted to go home with Wen Xi, but he didn't expect to encounter this scene.
His carefully protected younger sister was being slandered like this, and his face grew increasingly gloomy. He looked at the principal beside him and said, "Is this what you call good teachers at your school? Is this what you call harmonious relationships among students? No evidence, just baseless accusations? Are all the teachers at your school of this level?"
The chemistry teacher suddenly tensed up upon seeing the principal, looking somewhat bewildered, unsure of who the important person was speaking to, given the principal's respectful demeanor.
The principal wiped the sweat from his brow and quickly tried to salvage the situation: "No, no."
The principal glared at Teacher Li. He had just said something nice, and Teacher Li had completely ruined the good impression the school had made.
Fu Yiwei: "Let's just look at the surveillance footage. I trust my sister."
The principal led a few people toward the school's monitoring room.
The other students were told by Teacher Zhu that they could leave school, but they were all very curious and wanted to know if Mu Wenxi had plagiarized, so they secretly followed behind.
The principal summoned the academic affairs director and several teachers who had not left the school. Without informing them of what had happened, he simply asked them to quickly review the surveillance footage and write down the seat numbers of the students who cheated.
A dozen minutes later, several teachers handed in the slips of paper with the seat numbers that had been checked repeatedly for cheating. Mu Wenxi was not among them, which proved that she did indeed get the perfect score on her own.
The math teacher looked at Wenxi with a face full of relief. She knew Wenxi wasn't that kind of child; her judgment had never been wrong.
The chemistry teacher, utterly shocked, took a few steps back: "How is this possible? How is this possible! How could she have gotten a perfect score by herself?"
Fu Yiwei's sharp gaze pierced the chemistry teacher: "Why is it impossible?"
He took out Wen Xi's previous report card and slammed it on the table, like a heavy slap to everyone's face.
He slowly began, “My sister’s grades have always been in the middle to upper range since junior high school. She has never scored below 80 in science subjects and never below 90 in humanities subjects. Although she did not perform well in the high school entrance exam, why did her grades gradually decline after she entered your school?”
The math teacher knew that Wenxi's math grades were initially the best among all the students, but they did gradually decline.
Fu Yiwei stared sharply at the chemistry teacher: "In the first monthly exam of the first year of high school, my sister scored above 90. How come she gradually became a failing student this semester? It turns out it's because she didn't have a good teacher and had a group of classmates who bullied her."
The chemistry teacher was speechless but still tried to argue: "It's clearly because she has a very poor mental capacity."
Upon hearing Teacher Li say such things, the principal immediately pinched his philtrum, fearing he might faint.
Fu Yiwei: "So, does this mean that students who get perfect scores in your school are subject to suspicion from others? Are you not allowed to improve their grades?"
Wen Xi stood aside, calmly watching the scene unfold before her.
Fu Yiwei: "This is just an excuse you're making to cover up your behavior. I believe that truly excellent teachers will help children get out of their predicament and provide positive psychological counseling."
Principal: "Student Fu, about this matter..."
