Chapter 194 Apocalyptic Boss vs. Fox Human-Human Mutant 29

"collapse!"

Gu Zhongsheng knelt on one knee, stirring up a thin layer of yellow soil on the ground.

Lin Zhenzhen's waist and thighs were tightly held by his hands, and her buttocks were unfortunately sitting on his bent knees.

That's a dangerous and ambiguous pose.

Lin Zhenzhen punched Gu Zhongsheng uncomfortably: "You're pinching me so hard, it hurts."

Gu Zhongsheng rolled his eyes and fixed them on the top of her head.

After a pause, he said, "You really don't know what's good for you. If I let go, you would have been smashed into a pulp."

"I could have climbed down slowly on my own."

Lin Zhenzhen has now completely figured out Gu Zhongsheng's personality, and has become somewhat unscrupulous in her shamelessness.

She slapped Gu Zhongsheng on the back: "Let go of me now."

Without saying a word, Gu Zhongsheng let go of her hand, and Lin Zhenzhen fell to the ground, landing face-first in the dirt.

Lin Zhenzhen scrambled to her feet, looking disheveled.

"you!"

"You're upset again. You were the one who told me to let go."

Gu Zhongsheng frowned, as if blaming her.

But upon closer inspection, one can see a gloating smile flickering in his eyes.

"You're so childish." Lin Zhenzhen glared at him.

Gu Zhongsheng was about to say something when he suddenly saw Lin Zhenzhen's eyes light up.

A smile played on her lips, and her upturned fox-like eyes curved into crescent moons as she ran towards him.

Gu Zhongsheng was stunned for a moment, then subconsciously reached out his hand.

Lin Zhenzhen brushed past him and went straight behind him.

"General!"

Lin Zhenzhen ran to Gu Bosheng's side and stood there: "Where did you go just now?"

Gu Bosheng's eyes were clear and bright: "I chatted with it for a while."

"Chatting?" Besides Gu Bosheng, there's only this giant cedar tree in front of us.

Lin Zhenzhen's eyes widened: "After the mutation, can it talk?"

Gu Bosheng shook his head: "It's not spoken aloud, but communicated through something similar to brainwaves."

He explained, "The possibility that mutant plants may develop their own consciousness after evolution is a topic that scientists have been discussing in recent years."

"While this possibility may exist in theory, there are almost no samples that can support this conclusion."

Lin Zhenzhen suddenly realized: "But does this giant sequoia prove that?"

Gu Bosheng lowered his eyes and remained silent.

Gu Zhongsheng, who was standing to the side, said, "There's no way to prove it."

Lin Zhenzhen turned to look at Gu Zhongsheng, whose back was to the two of them, and his tall figure looked somewhat lonely at this moment.

His voice was flat and emotionless.

"If it were an ordinary person, no, even if it were a psychic, no human would be able to detect its brainwaves."

"Why?"

Gu Bosheng sighed and explained, "When this giant sequoia was first discovered, the war zone made some rather radical decisions, which led to it harboring a strong hostility towards humans ever since."

He had noticed a faint fishy smell in the wind blowing from the southeast.

It smells like human blood.

It seems that the exploration team sent out some time ago ultimately failed in its mission.

"So that's how it is." Lin Zhenzhen looked up at the silent giant tree. It stood there, motionless, yet it possessed consciousness, could think, and had likes and dislikes.

Suddenly remembering something, Lin Zhenzhen asked, "I'm not a pure human either. Can I say a few words to it?"

"...It should be possible."

Gu Bosheng led her to the tree and placed her hand on the trunk.

"Try to feel its heartbeat."

Heartbeat?

Yes, there does seem to be something faintly pulsating under my palm.

"Can you feel it?"

"have."

“Very good, try to connect with it in your mind.”

Lin Zhenzhen closed her eyes and breathed slowly. The originally subtle heartbeat became more and more intense, until it sounded like drumsticks pounding on her eardrums.

A powerful wave of sound swept in, one wave higher than the next, bringing with it an unimaginable surge of fresh and vibrant life force.

In addition to the heartbeat, there was also an irregular buzzing sound.

Surprisingly, Lin Zhenzhen was able to sense the emotions contained in the buzzing sound.

The giant sequoia actually felt... happy?

"Lingzhen, that's enough."

Gu Bosheng, who was standing next to him, immediately called a halt to everything.

Lin Zhenzhen shuddered, as if waking from a dream.

Gu Bosheng had somehow moved to a position far away from her.

"Its brainwaves are so powerful that your body can't handle the energy, which is why you get a nosebleed."

Lin Zhenzhen then belatedly realized that a warm liquid was flowing under her nose.

She wiped her nose with the back of her hand, and sure enough, it was bleeding.

Seeing Lin Zhenzhen's hand stained with bright red, the golden light in Gu Bosheng's eyes uncontrollably brightened.

He clenched his fists, using all his strength to suppress the desire surging within him.

Gu Bosheng lowered his head, his voice trembling slightly: "What did you just say to it?"

"I originally wanted to ask it where around here could I find one of those soft, large mutant plants," Lin Zhenzhen said, scratching her head somewhat awkwardly. "But I couldn't understand what it was saying after listening for a long time."

“I know where you’re looking for it,” Gu Zhongsheng, who had been silent, suddenly said. “If you’re looking for it, I can take you there.”

"That's great." Lin Zhenzhen then complained, "You should have said so earlier, then I wouldn't have had to bleed."

"Tch." Gu Zhongsheng scoffed. "Whether you're being reasonable or not, how am I supposed to know if you don't tell me?"

"It's all your fault, it's all your fault." Lin Zhenzhen closed her eyes and shook her head, looking like she wouldn't listen and was just babbling on and on.

Gu Zhongsheng was amused: "Are you going or not? If you're going, leave now."

"Go!" Lin Zhenzhen looked at Gu Bosheng, "General, do you want to come with us?"

Gu Bosheng hid his hand, which was gripped so tightly that the veins were bulging, behind his back and gently shook his head: "No."

"Alright then, we'll be back soon."

"Wait a minute," Gu Zhongsheng called out to her, "Wipe the blood off your face before you come over."

Hearing him say that, Lin Zhenzhen rolled her eyes and then repeated the wiping motion.

"Is it okay now?"

Gu Zhongsheng still clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction.

He simply walked up to her and tore off a piece of Lin Zhenzhen's clothes.

Before Lin Zhenzhen could express her shock, he covered her mouth with the cloth he was holding.

Gu Zhongsheng roughly rubbed her face, and finally wiped the bloodstains off the back of her hand.

After making sure everything was cleaned thoroughly, he casually tossed the cloth aside with satisfaction.

"Alright."

Gu Zhongsheng grabbed Lin Zhenzhen's wrist and ran forward.
