"It's okay, add whatever toppings you want, I'll go get something else."
As he spoke, Gong Yao turned to go to the window next to him.
"Wait, come back here." Lin Zhenzhen grabbed his hand. "We agreed to eat together, what's the point of us eating separately?"
Gong Yao raised his eyes and stared at her intently.
Lin Zhenzhen bent down and called out to the window, "Auntie, I don't want scallions and cilantro for my portion."
"Okay!"
Lin Zhenzhen pulled Gong Yao to sit down in the nearest seat.
"Sit down and wait a while. When our number is called, I'll go get the food."
Lin Zhenzhen turned her head and noticed something else: "There's milk tea and fruit salad over there, do you want some? I'll go buy some."
Gong Yao stood up: "I'll go."
"No, sit down, I'll do it!" Lin Zhenzhen pushed him back down, dropped the number plate in her hand, and ran out excitedly.
There were quite a few people queuing at the window over there. By the time Lin Zhenzhen returned with two large cups of milk tea, the dry pot was already ready.
Lin Zhenzhen looked at the lush green expanse of cilantro and scallions, so abundant it was almost overflowing, with a surprised expression.
Gong Yao calmly explained, "The cafeteria ladies were probably too busy and forgot."
"How could this be? How are you supposed to eat this?"
He picked up the chopsticks beside him: "It's okay, you can eat it."
Lin Zhenzhen stopped him: "Don't force yourself. What if you feel unwell after eating it?"
Gong Yao smiled and said, "I'm not that delicate. I just don't like strong-smelling things. It doesn't make much difference once it's in my stomach."
"Besides, you ordered such a large portion. If I don't eat it, wouldn't it be a waste?"
Lin Zhenzhen frowned, stood and thought for a while, then went to get two empty bowls.
"Then wait a moment."
Gong Yao watched as she picked up her chopsticks, lowered her head, and removed all the green food covering the surface.
She was very focused, not missing a single tiny crumb.
After picking and choosing for about ten minutes, Lin Zhenzhen finally put down her chopsticks: "Okay, all done, you can eat now!"
She looked up and found that Gong Yao was staring straight at her.
To be precise, you should be staring at your right rear.
Lin Zhenzhen turned around following his gaze and saw a huge crowd of people.
She asked, somewhat puzzled, "What's wrong?"
Gong Yao frowned almost imperceptibly: "The people over there are watching you."
"who?"
"At nine o'clock, the girl in the red plaid shirt and the boy next to her wearing a baseball cap," Gong Yao added, "they just took out their phones; they were probably taking pictures."
"Taking photos?" Lin Zhenzhen looked in the direction Gong Yao had described and saw the two people.
Sure enough, they were pointing at their phones and whispering to each other.
Lin Zhenzhen narrowed her eyes, feeling a little strange herself.
She turned her head and smiled casually, "It's nothing, I probably just happened to raise my phone and take a picture of something."
Gong Yao frowned: "Do you need me to go and take a look?"
"No need," Lin Zhenzhen reassured them. "If we rush over like this and find out they were just taking a selfie, how embarrassing would that be?"
Before Gong Yao could say anything more, Lin Zhenzhen picked up a chicken wing and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Alright, I know you're an excellent reserve police officer with a very high level of vigilance!"
"But we are safe at school now, and we don't have to be so tense all the time."
"All you need to do now is relax and have a nice meal with me."
Lin Zhenzhen tilted her head to look at him and blinked gently: "Can I? My dear police officer."
Gong Yao paused for two seconds, looking unexpectedly cute with a chicken wing in his mouth.
Lin Zhenzhen couldn't help but raise her hand and rub his head. The buzz cut didn't feel comfortable to the touch; the newly grown short hair was stiff and prickly.
But she still felt a kind of joy similar to that of petting a large dog.
Gong Yao was completely bewildered by her series of actions, and almost dropped the chicken wing he was holding in his mouth.
Lin Zhenzhen stared at him with wide eyes: "What's wrong? Is it not tasty?"
Gong Yao shook his head, lowered his head, and buried himself in his rice, eating with a hint of panic in his movements.
This meal took almost an hour.
As Lin Zhenzhen walked out of the cafeteria, she felt like her stomach was about to explode.
She patted her belly with satisfaction and exclaimed, "If I keep eating like this, I could easily gain five pounds, or even ten pounds."
Gong Yao, who was standing next to her, stopped in his tracks. Although his eyes showed some hesitation, he still replied, "I did eat a bit too much today."
