Lin Zhenzhen couldn't help but laugh out loud. Three bowls of rice with countless oily chicken wings were just a bit too much for him.
She put on a stern face: "Didn't you say that I'm too thin and need to gain weight? Why are you complaining now that I eat too much?"
Gong Yao was caught off guard by her sudden "acting" and hurriedly explained, "I didn't mean anything by it."
"Just make sure you gain weight in a reasonable way, and don't overeat. Overeating is bad for your stomach and you'll feel uncomfortable."
"Besides, I have never looked down on you."
Lin Zhenzhen clicked her tongue, a sly smile playing on her lips: "I know, men's sweet talk is just a bunch of deceptive tricks."
Gong Yao finally began to understand.
He wrapped his arm around Lin Zhenzhen's waist, buried his head in her neck, and whispered, "Well, you've really grown up, deliberately trying to provoke me?"
"I didn't, don't talk nonsense." Lin Zhenzhen raised her chin, her eyes curving into crescent moons. Gong Yao's hot breath fell on her neck, making her feel a little itchy.
He leaned against it lightly and quickly straightened up.
"You don't have any other plans this afternoon, right?"
Lin Zhenzhen turned her face away and glanced at her phone in a fake manner: "I have plans. I have a meeting to attend at 2 pm, and I have to see my teacher at 3 pm. I won't be done until about 5 or 6 pm."
Gong Yao frowned slightly: "It's okay, then I'll wait for you to have dinner together tonight."
Lin Zhenzhen also frowned, her expression serious: "Tonight won't work, I have plans with my classmates."
As she was speaking, she suddenly felt her phone vibrate twice in her bag.
A message tagging her popped up in the dorm group chat.
[My darling Zhenzhen, why aren't you home yet? Your sisters are all lonely and cold (heartbroken dog.jpg)]
[Missing you (red lips kissing.jpg)]
[Missing you +1 (Red lips kiss.jpg)]
[Missing you +2 (Red lips kiss.jpg)]
What followed was a screen full of emojis, with countless yellow puppies wiggling their butts at the same time, creating a truly mesmerizing scene.
Lin Zhenzhen couldn't help but laugh out loud: "What are all these things?"
Gong Yao glanced at her chat history, but remained silent.
His eyes were cold, and his sharp features seemed to be covered with a thin layer of frost, with a terrifyingly low pressure surrounding him.
Lin Zhenzhen realized that he had taken her joke seriously and quickly went to coax him.
"Oh, I was just kidding. I've already planned to spend today with you, there's no other plan at all."
Gong Yao lowered his eyes: "Your friend is waiting for you, is that alright?"
"It's okay, it's okay." Lin Zhenzhen grabbed Gong Yao's arm and walked forward. "None of them are as important as you. No, nothing is more important than you."
Gong Yao stopped, lowered his head slightly, and asked slowly, "Really?"
"Really." Lin Zhenzhen smiled. "Don't you believe me?"
Gong Yao's lips finally stopped drooping, and the faint smile in his eyes vanished in an instant.
He turned his head and looked at Lin Zhenzhen intently for a few moments: "Did something happen?"
Lin Zhenzhen asked in confusion, "Why do you say that?"
Gong Yao pondered: "You seem a little different today."
Lin Zhenzhen raised an eyebrow: "How is it different?"
“In many places,” Gong Yao considered his words, “you don’t usually talk like this, and it seems you’ve become somewhat…”
His gaze darkened: "Clingy."
"Isn't being clingy good?" Lin Zhenzhen leaned closer. "I only cling to you."
Gong Yao looked away: "Are you really not hiding anything from me?"
"Really, no." Lin Zhenzhen changed the subject. "Have you thought about how you're going to spend this afternoon?"
Having said that, Gong Yao did not press the matter further.
"I borrowed a friend's car, want to go for a drive later?"
"Sure, where is your friend?"
Gong Yao glanced at his phone: "They just messaged me saying they're on their way. If we go now, it should be about the same time."
The two strolled leisurely to the school's main gate.
Gong Yao waved towards the traffic lights at the intersection not far away.
Immediately afterwards, Lin Zhenzhen saw a man wearing a white work shirt and carrying a briefcase riding a heavy motorcycle.
Gong Yao introduced, "This is my friend, the 'leader'."
"This is my classmate, Lin Zhenzhen."
The man took off his helmet and chuckled twice.
"Hello, hello. Actually, we've met once before."
"Although it happened a long time ago, I still have a deep impression of you."
He nudged Lin Zhenzhen's shoulder with his elbow and lowered his voice: "I've heard so much about you."
Lin Zhenzhen looked up and smiled, "I remember, five years ago today, the two of you were racing on Binjiang Avenue."
"Wow, girl, your memory is amazing!" the platoon leader exclaimed. "Am I so handsome that people can't forget me after just one glance?"
Lin Zhenzhen's smile remained unchanged: "Later, my dad and I arrived, and you slipped away when you saw things weren't going well. Am I right?"
