Chapter 420, Final Chapter 69

Lin Zhenzhen was unable to stand up and could only support her body with her elbows as she crawled little by little toward the door.

She struggled to walk even a short distance of just a few meters.

The sounds of fighting outside gradually subsided, replaced by a man's rough, hoarse voice.

"Do you think I want your life? If you know what's good for you, kneel down now and kowtow to me three times."

"No!" Lin Zhenzhen's eyes widened, and she murmured tremblingly, "Don't agree to them."

The person on the other side of the door did not respond immediately; in the long silence, the atmosphere of anxiety grew stronger.

Lin Zhenzhen had already moved to the front of the door.

She endured the sharp pain in her abdomen, put all her weight on one side, raised her right hand, and tried to reach the doorknob above her head.

Each time her arm reached upwards, it pulled the wound on her abdomen, causing it to widen.

It felt as if her internal organs were being churned up by an electric drill; waves of excruciating pain washed over her, almost making her faint.

Lin Zhenzhen looked as if she had just crawled out of the water; there wasn't a dry spot on her body.

Blood and sweat kept seeping from her body.

She was like a green plant whose vitality had been taken away by the scorching sun, withering away rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Suddenly, a loud "bang" came from outside the door.

It felt as if something had struck the hard stone surface at an extremely high speed.

Lin Zhenzhen's hand froze, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

She knew that it was the sound of Gong Yao's knee hitting the marble floor.

A burst of laughter erupted outside the door, accompanied by a cacophony of offensive language.

Lin Zhenzhen's eyes were bloodshot. She bit her lower lip hard, her canine teeth cutting her lips, and she soon tasted the strong smell of blood.

A sudden surge of powerful energy within her body enabled her to straighten her upper body.

Just as Lin Zhenzhen was about to reach the doorknob, the air in front of her suddenly solidified.

This forms an invisible yet tangible "air wall".

Lin Zhenzhen knew that this must be the result of the "unchangeable past" again.

Because the original "Lin Zhenzhen" failed to open this door, she is now blocked from entering.

Lin Zhenzhen cursed under her breath.

To hell with projections of consciousness, to hell with immutability.

Even if it's futile, so what?

Do your best and leave the rest to fate.

She was never one to sit idly by and wait for her fate.

Lin Zhenzhen quickly looked around and immediately spotted the slightly ajar window.

She gritted her teeth, climbed onto the windowsill with both hands, pushed off with her right foot, and jumped out.

A howling, cold wind blew in, making Lin Zhenzhen's already thin and weak body sway.

She didn't know which floor she was on; the pain blurred her vision, making it impossible for her to even see the traffic and steps beneath her feet.

She moved slowly forward and climbed over into another room connected to it.

Lin Zhenzhen opened the door and stumbled out.

She clutched her abdomen with one hand and leaned against the wall with the other, leaving a trail of crooked, bloody handprints in her wake.

Just then, a cleaning lady pushing a cart came around the corner. When she saw Lin Zhenzhen lying half-paralyzed on the ground, covered in blood, she was so frightened that she screamed.

After regaining her senses, she quickly stepped forward to support Lin Zhenzhen.

"Girl, are you alright? What happened?!"

Faced with her question, Lin Zhenzhen seemed to have exhausted all her strength, and after a long while, she gently shook her head.

"Please, please... call the police."

"Okay, okay, call the police! Call the police!" The aunt frantically pulled out her phone.

"Hello, is this the police station? There's been a murder at the Anshi International Hotel!"

"......"

After doing all this, Lin Zhenzhen could no longer hold on, her body tilted, and she fell straight to the ground.

In the last second before losing consciousness, Lin Zhenzhen vaguely saw that the number on the doorplate hanging diagonally in front of her changed as her gaze tilted.

The original "1060" was flipped and became "0901".

-------------------------------------

At the moment of death in the dream space, Lin Zhenzhen's consciousness jumped back to the laboratory.

She took off her helmet and sat down in a chair, feeling somewhat exhausted.

Not long after, Gong Yao in the other room also woke up.

Rex excitedly rushed forward and exclaimed, "Yao, I saw the wave pattern on the instrument screen! You found the key, didn't you!"

Gong Yao raised his eyes, his expression heavy with a kind of emotion, like the impending storm at dusk, so oppressive that it was almost suffocating.

Rex stood there stunned for a moment before finally speaking in a hoarse voice, "Yao, what's wrong with you?"

"..." Gong Yao lowered his head and remained silent for a full ten seconds. "Yes, the key has been found."

"That's great!" Rex's attention immediately shifted. "Tell me, where did you hide it?"

"Hotel, room 1060."

“Room 1060?” Rex immediately realized.

"0901 flipped over is 1060! Actually, the clues don't point to September 1st. No wonder we've been going in circles and haven't made any progress."

"But how could you mistake 1060 for 0901? Were you lying down at the time?"

“Rex,” Gong Yao interrupted his question.

"Hmm, what's wrong?"

Where is she?

"Her? You mean Lin Zhenzhen? I moved her to the next room before you woke up. Don't worry, she's safe. She can't escape."
