Having arranged the upcoming plot tasks, Lin Zhenzhen smiled with satisfaction and quickened her pace towards the cafeteria for lunch.
Although passersby stared at her the whole time, it did not dampen her enthusiasm in the slightest. While other girls ate like they were feeding cats, she ate like she was fleeing a famine.
She didn't stop chewing until her empty stomach was full. When she looked up, she realized that the person sitting diagonally opposite her was none other than Tan Bei himself.
Unlike Ning Zhen's bad reputation, Tan Bei was well-liked. Although he was also a student who was only sent to Shengxin during his university years, he was good-looking and had a very proper manner.
Not only did he excel academically, but he also joined the Student Union, a place that many children from prominent families would fight tooth and nail to get into.
Even when he was having lunch, he was surrounded by a group of people, chatting and laughing.
This harmonious atmosphere was quickly broken by the arrival of Lin Zhenzhen.
Because it was inconvenient to wear her hair down while eating, she used a ballpoint pen to tie her waist-length hair up high, revealing her smooth forehead and fine brown downy hairs.
Everyone unconsciously lowered their voices and pretended to eat seriously, but their eyes couldn't help but glance in her direction. Unexpectedly, Ning Zhen stopped in front of them.
"Come find me in the reading room after you finish eating." She said this to Tan Bei.
This sudden invitation seemed to surprise Tan Bei as well, but after a moment he nodded and replied, "Okay."
After Lin Zhenzhen left, the men and women around her asked Tan Bei curiously.
"What happened? Did you upset her?"
"Yeah, when did you become so familiar with Crazy Ning?"
Tan Bei slowly took a sip of soup and said gently, "We're all classmates, maybe someone in the class needs to talk to me."
After lunch, Lin Zhenzhen walked towards the reading room in the center of the campus. It was a European-style retro building with the school history museum on the lower three floors and the library and reading room on the upper floor.
She swiped her card and proceeded without any problems. She found the sunniest corner in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the reading room, draped her school uniform jacket over her head, and contentedly enjoyed the warm sunshine of the spring afternoon.
In her half-awake state, she suddenly heard rustling behind her and voices coming from not far away. The voices were high and low, and the lower voice sounded somewhat familiar.
"I don't know either... She actually... was careless. I'll definitely do it next time... Please help me..."
"Idiot, you can't even handle this simple task."
Lin Zhenzhen realized that the person they were talking about was herself, the one pleading in a low voice was Zhou Ke, and the other person's identity was unknown.
Just as she was about to continue probing, a warm object gently touched her arm, but quickly moved away, as if to confirm whether she was still awake.
Lin Zhenzhen tore off her school uniform, her cat-like eyes narrowing unhappily as she glared at the person in front of her.
What's going on? Is this person floating? They didn't even realize the other person was getting close.
Such a mistake could be big or small. With Tan Bei's gloomy nature, she might be the one caught by the neck next time!
Her dark expression was somewhat frightening, but Tan Bei smiled good-naturedly, leaned down, and deliberately lowered his voice.
Did I just wake you up?
His breath, hot and slightly warm, brushed against Lin Zhenzhen's ear as he spoke, making her very uncomfortable.
She pointed her index finger at Tan Bei's school badge, signaling him to stay away from her, her eyes filled with undisguised disdain.
He reached into his pocket with his other hand, pulled out a bank card, and handed it to him.
"This is your allowance for this month. Dad asked me to give it to you."
The card was held between Lin Zhenzhen's fingers. Tan Bei stared in that direction, his eyes flickering, it was unclear whether he was looking at her hand or at the card.
"What, you don't want it? I'll take it." Lin Zhenzhen pretended to pull away, but Tan Bei took the bank card without asking any questions. This was the first time he had received pocket money for himself in the six months he had been with the Lin family.
Ning Xiong was quite generous. To show that he treated everyone equally, he never skimped on his food, clothing, daily necessities, or even his monthly allowance of 100,000 yuan.
However, when he encountered Ning Zhen, that troublesome devil, not to mention anything else, the fact that he wasn't killed by Ning Zhen can only be attributed to Tan Bei's protagonist halo.
"His plane lands tonight. You know what you should and shouldn't say."
Lin Zhenzhen raised a threatening glance, but the sunlight shining on her eyelids tinted her eyelashes gold, greatly reducing the threatening nature of her expression.
It looks like a kitten meowing proudly.
Even after school, while sitting in the car on the way back to the Lin family home, Tan Bei would still occasionally recall that scene, to the point that he couldn't help but want to reach out and touch Lin Zhenzhen's fluffy head whenever he saw it.
Instead of taking them back to the Ning family home, the driver went directly to City A's landmark building, the twin skyscrapers located on the riverbank.
The observation elevator ascended smoothly and steadily, arriving at the Chinese restaurant on the 38th floor.
Lin Zhenzhen and Tan Bei entered the largest private room in the restaurant one after the other. Upon seeing Ning Xiong inside, Lin Zhenzhen immediately threw down her schoolbag and rushed to him, giving him a tight hug.
"Alright, you're all grown up now, why are you still acting so spoiled? Aren't you afraid of being laughed at if word gets out?"
Ning Xiong said that, but the corners of his mouth never turned down, and his wrinkled face was full of doting affection.
"What's wrong? I'd like to see who dares to laugh at me!"
Lin Zhenzhen spoke in a manner reminiscent of the original owner of the body, both charming and arrogant. Ironically, her father was very receptive to this, and his words of reprimand even carried a hint of indulgence.
Compared to their harmonious atmosphere, the other two people present seemed somewhat awkward and superfluous.
