Chapter 101 Interstellar Glory (Part 3)

Shen Wangshu suddenly looked up.

"If there is a next time, you should evacuate like any other student."

A faint tenderness flickered in Effie's dark golden eyes.

She looked at her sister, who seemed stunned, and hugged her, whispering, "You're all I have left, Alice."

All members of the Field family died on the front lines, and she would receive an obituary from the military every so often. These were the final proof that their fathers, mothers, and brothers had died and their bodies could never be recovered.

Bright tears welled in her eyes as she held her only remaining sister and whispered, "I don't want you to be a hero, but to live on forever." The Field family home was forever empty, and she took up the family's crumbling banner to protect it.

If even the younger sister is lost, what is the point of being from a prestigious family?

"But I can't bring shame to the family," Shen Wangshu murmured.

"So what if I'm infamous?"

"It will implicate you," Shen Wangshu said softly, sounding aggrieved.

This time, Effie wrapped her arms around the little blonde girl, smiled, and whispered, "My purpose in life is to protect you."

She sensed that the usually carefree little girl in her arms seemed to have something on her mind, so she reached out and hugged her, sobbing softly, feeling even more heartbroken.

“But I also want to protect you,” she said, her voice choked with emotion.

Effie gave a satisfied smile.

She thought the sentence was so beautiful; just hearing it made her feel incredibly happy.

The two sisters nestled together, for they were each other's only remaining family, and at this moment, no one could bring themselves to say anything to change the subject. Shen Wangshu even forgot about Ah Xuan at this moment.

This wasn't her own emotion, but rather Alice's unspeakable love for her sister. She felt that the once innocent little girl was bidding her sister a final farewell, using this life to protect her sister and prevent her from falling into the pain of her past life. Shen Wangshu closed her eyes, feeling that at this moment, she was Alice.

She wanted to continue protecting Aifei and wish her eternal happiness.

If Alice's existence is her happiness, then from this moment on, she is the real Alice.

“You two really made a name for yourselves this time.” Effie felt her younger sister shyly shrink into her arms, and at that moment, a sudden, sharp pain shot through her heart, as if she were losing something. She tried to suppress the pain, gently stroking her sister's head and saying softly, “Karls and I have already sent a message to the military, and they will reward you. But…” she asked softly, “Do you want to go to the military?”

She was reluctant to let Shen Wangshu join the military, thinking that it meant Shen Wangshu would go to the battlefield in the future.

The battlefield is unpredictable; who knows what dangers might occur?

“I want to continue my studies,” Shen Wangshu said with a smile. “There is still so much I haven’t learned. If I were to join the military now, it would be irresponsible to the military and a loss for me as well.”

She was a rational person. Although joining the military now, riding the current wave of opportunity, would give her a high starting point, her experience and knowledge couldn't support that. Once on the battlefield, a single mistake could be fatal, not only endangering her own life but also endangering the lives of the soldiers under her command.

.

Shen Wangshu was self-aware; she was far from meeting the graduation standards.

Her refusal brought Effie a huge sigh of relief.

She also did not want Shen Wangshu to go to the battlefield now.

“Actually, staying at the academy is fine too,” she said gently.

Shen Wangshu smiled and nodded, looking extremely obedient.

Although she seemed well-behaved, Effie felt that her younger sister had changed after experiencing the war. This strange feeling made her feel inexplicably uneasy, yet her sister was still as adorable as ever.

A strange sadness welled up inside her, but she ignored it. Just as she was about to hug her younger sister and rest a bit more, she heard a slightly nervous boy's voice outside the door. It was Kerry's voice. A look of satisfaction appeared in Effie's eyes. She smiled at her sister, who was turning her head away and ignoring her, and opened the door with the remote control.

Upon seeing the figure appear at the door, Effie's smile immediately vanished.

She sat expressionlessly on the edge of the bed, holding her younger sister, watching the tall man slowly walk in.

The man, still dressed in his crisp general's uniform, walked up to Shen Wangshu with tense steps.

“Your Excellency Karls, it is an honor to have you come to visit my sister in person.” Effie’s face darkened. She glanced at the somewhat haggard-looking Kerry without making it obvious, and said coldly to Admiral Karls, “I thought you should be back on your flagship at this time.”

She seemed to dislike General Karls, but Shen Wangshu couldn't wait to see this man more. His handsome face had deep features, making him incomparably handsome, and his dark eyes seemed to hide emotions that made her heart flutter.

She knew without him telling her that this was her Ah Xuan.

She looked up at him greedily, almost unable to look away.

The man didn't even glance at Aifei; he kept his eyes fixed on Shen Wangshu's face.

There was a hint of confusion and unfamiliarity in his eyes, yet he couldn't look away.

He felt a deep familiarity with the blonde girl before him, a familiarity that brought tears to his eyes. He couldn't express this feeling, but his heart told him that this was the lover he had been searching for for so many years.
