Shen Wangshu was waiting for Jasmine to bring up this issue.
She knew that Jasmine would definitely not forget to show off.
A gentle young girl knows she was wrong, is willing to admit it, and wants the public's forgiveness. She is deeply grateful for her companion's selfless help. What a wonderful character she is!
Shen Wangshu couldn't help her climb up by stepping on other people's shoulders.
“This isn’t abandonment, it’s true courage.” The blonde girl’s eyes were as beautiful as a clear sky. She smiled gently, her expression touching and innocent, and said softly with genuine gratitude, “Obeying orders is a soldier’s duty. Knowing they would face the accusations you’re talking about, they were still willing to bear the stigma of desertion and board the spaceship. To me, that virtue is equally respectable. Besides, unnecessary sacrifices are meaningless, but carrying the weight of ten comrades’ lives is what truly causes pain.”
Her beautiful eyes swept over her companions, who stood tall and proud, and she smiled, clapping her hands softly as she said, "Boarding the spaceship is just as brave as staying on the warship to await death. Because no one knows if the spaceship will actually escape the battlefield. Besides, if they hadn't left that star system and kept sending distress signals to the Federation, the two generals wouldn't have arrived in time to save us. We were saved by them too. But what they carried was far heavier than what we carried. If we had really died in battle, what would have happened to them?"
She tilted her head, seemingly biting her fingertip in thought, but everyone shuddered at the thought.
If Shen Wangshu and his ten men were to die in battle, then the students who boarded the spaceship would be met with overwhelming condemnation.
"They still have to carry on with our lives, to give even more sweat to the Federation. Who can understand the weight of carrying the lives of others?" Shen Wangshu turned her head, looked earnestly at the camera, and said each word with a smile that was completely free of gloom, "So I say, the seniors who boarded the spaceship and left have no need to blame themselves. You did not cling to life or fear death, but instead followed military orders and embarked on another path. You are also heroes of the Federation."
Her genuine smile blossomed, but she frowned slightly as she said, "But... I think senior students should be more magnanimous. Even if they feel they are wrong, they shouldn't just shed a couple of tears, but should make more contributions to the Federation."
Her small, rosy lips, like flower petals, opened and closed gently, and Jasmine's tears immediately stopped flowing.
"Are we heroes too?" a young man asked softly.
Even on the warship just now, Shen Wangshu hadn't explained it so clearly.
“I think so,” Kerry said softly from the side.
"That's right"
"No matter which path we take, we'll be companions, won't we?" Lori and a few other boys walked up to them, smiling.
Their eyes were full of agreement, and the subtle barriers and anxieties completely disappeared as the teenagers smiled at each other.
Effie stood to the side, proudly watching her younger sister blush and smile to the side.
She was so beautiful, sincere, and kind—it warmed people's hearts—but why...?
"General?" an adjutant suddenly called out with concern.
Meeting the worried gaze of her trusted adjutant, Effie instinctively touched her face, where a string of glistening tears streamed down her cheeks. The woman with short, dark blonde hair straightened her back, quietly looking at the tears in her hand, her gaze somewhat lost.
She didn't understand why her heart always ached, even with Alice right in front of her; a pain still welled up from the depths of her soul. She was never one to cry, yet tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Effie stared at the tears on her hands for a long time before slowly wiping them away.
She went straight to her sister, lowered her eyes, and said softly, "It's nothing."
The adjutant hesitated, but ultimately did nothing more.
"What happened to Jasmine?" Effie's gaze swept over the black-haired girl who had retreated to the back, her face pale, and she became invisible to everyone. Her gaze suddenly turned cold, and she said softly, "I never thought that my father's act of kindness back then would result in raising such an ungrateful child."
Having spent so long in the military, she completely disregarded Jasmine's petty tricks. She found them laughable; Jasmine's cleverness, seemingly capable of fooling people, was nothing more than a laughingstock, a clown in the eyes of truly intelligent individuals.
However, she could no longer tolerate Jasmine's antics, and her face darkened as she pondered something.
At this moment, because of Shen Wangshu's words, these reporters became very interested in all the federal students and interviewed them separately, hoping to get more news and interesting stories.
Everyone who interviewed praised Shen Wangshu highly.
Shen Wangshu withdrew at this moment.
She's already shone bright enough; why should she use her brilliance to overshadow all her companions?
She walked lightly to Effie, tilted her head back, and gave her a happy smile. The girl in the pretty dress looked at her older sister with innocent, clear eyes, filled with complete reliance.
Aifei's fingers trembled slightly, and after a moment, she touched Shen Wangshu's face with her fingers. Her smile was gentle, but Shen Wangshu still held her hand and frowned, asking, "Why are your hands so cold, sister?" She held Aifei's slender hand in her small one, looked up, and said happily, "If I warm you up, you won't be cold anymore." She smiled broadly, looking completely innocent.
Effie nodded and chuckled softly, "I just feel like Alice has grown up."
