"I heard you used to be a special forces soldier?" Shen Wangshu looked at Ah Xuan's strong body in this life. His body was full of powerful lines. If you pinched it with your soft little hand, it would be hard as a rock.
She noticed that Ah Xuan was still wearing his worn camouflage uniform and smelled the strong, masculine scent emanating from him. She couldn't help but sigh and rest her face on his strong arm. She saw this seemingly silent and aloof young man subtly raise his arm, as if to make her more comfortable.
She couldn't help but smile.
He may look cold, but his heart is still so soft.
"Hmm," Ah Xuan said hoarsely after a long time.
Looking at Shen Wangshu, who was resting peacefully with her eyes closed on his arm, he felt a sense of satisfaction fill the emptiness in his heart.
“Yes, it used to be,” he said softly. “I just retired.”
"And then you came looking for me?" Shen Wangshu asked, tilting her head. "How did you know I was here?"
Ah Xuan never retains memories of his past lives, and this life is clearly no exception. Looking into Ah Xuan's dark eyes, she suddenly asked with some curiosity, "You're very skilled, how did you get injured?" In the early stages of the apocalypse, as long as one overcomes their fear and avoids infection, zombies aren't invincible. Shen Wangshu, of course, knew that the special forces of a great nation were elite, and couldn't believe that Ah Xuan would lose to some low-level zombies.
“Tell me here. You are here.” Ah Xuan pointed to his heart and looked at Shen Wangshu earnestly.
He felt a voice in his mind telling him to go to a place where the most important person to him was, someone more important than his own life.
He followed his heart and indeed found the love he cherished.
But this encounter seemed too short-lived.
Ah Xuan's eyes darkened. He silently looked at the wound on his wrist and whispered, "Save..." But he felt as if he was deliberately using the favor to ask for a reward, so he shook his head and said nothing more.
"Was it the nanny who bit him?" Shen Wangshu asked sharply.
When the nanny's zombie pounced on Ning's father, Ah Xuan was too late to stop it. He could only use his arm to shield Ning's father from the zombie's mouth. For some reason, although human teeth aren't usually that sharp, the zombie's mouth was full of sharp teeth. Ah Xuan's hand was instantly bitten, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he slashed the zombie's head to cover up his injury. He lowered his eyes and whispered, "I'm sorry."
He concealed the fact that he had been bitten, not because he was afraid of his father blaming him, but because of selfishness.
He knew that his beloved would definitely return here, so he dared not let Ning's father know that there was a zombie by his side.
He was worried that if Ning's father drove him away, he would never see his beloved again.
"At this point, do you expect me to say it's okay?" Shen Wangshu smiled helplessly. Although she knew it was useless, she still took out some antiseptic from her spatial storage to clean Shen Xuan's wounds.
Her expression was extremely serious, as if all her gaze was focused on Shen Xuan's wrist. Her long hair fell down, revealing a fair and delicate face. Ah Xuan leaned against the wall, looking down quietly at her. He lowered his head, gently sniffed Shen Wangshu's loose hair, paused, and then turned his head to kiss Shen Wangshu's cheek.
He saw Shen Wangshu look up and revealed a faint smile.
"You're so beautiful," he said softly.
He didn't have much time left, so he wanted to cherish the time he had left to embrace and kiss her.
But he didn't want to say something like "time is running out" and hurt her feelings.
"Are there very few women in your team?" Shen Wangshu asked, her lips twitching as she looked at the tall man who couldn't help but smirk.
“One.” Ah Xuan held up his finger.
"There's only one woman in the team?" Shen Wangshu's eyes widened, and she couldn't help but feel sorry for the respectable special forces soldiers.
Ah Xuan nodded, lowered his head, and carefully touched Shen Wangshu's fingertips. He seemed quite satisfied as he touched the back of Shen Wangshu's snow-white hand.
“You’re the best looking,” he said with a hint of pride.
He seemed quite pleased with himself, as if Shen Wangshu's good looks made him especially proud.
Shen Wangshu couldn't help but chuckle. Seeing that Ah Xuan seemed much more lively than before, she couldn't resist smiling again. Even if she wouldn't have much time with Ah Xuan, she still hoped to have some unforgettable memories with him. Just as she was about to ask Ah Xuan what his surname was, she heard even sharper screams and more zombie roars coming from outside. She vaguely heard the sound of an engine and couldn't help but sigh.
The commotion at this moment likely indicates that the residents of this villa area have realized the urgency of the situation and are trying to escape by car.
But where else can they go besides home?
Instead of traveling thousands of miles and risking danger, it would be better to make your own villa safer, which would give you more opportunities to make a living.
She wasn't someone who would stand by and watch someone die, but at this moment she was powerless. She couldn't possibly save someone from the clutches of countless zombies, and she didn't want to call Ah Xuan over. No matter how strong he was, he was still alone, and he was infected with the virus; she didn't know when it would flare up.
As she hesitated, she heard the screams outside weaken. Looking up at Ah Xuan, she forced a smile and said, "I'm not abandoning you to your death." She lowered her head, pursed her lips, and said softly, "I just don't have the power to help, and my parents are more important than them."
