She couldn't understand Shen Wangshu, but she wouldn't use drastic measures to force her. However, as if she had thought of something, she took out a cigarette from her pocket, put it in her mouth, and said, "You're still lucky." This zombie named A Xuan seemed to be able to control herself; she had witnessed too many human tragedies along the way.
Wives who pounced on their bitten husbands hoping for a miracle were often the ones who were then devoured until only bones remained. This wasn't an isolated incident.
"What have you been doing all these years?" Shen Wangshu coughed twice, and then saw Nan Lan put out her cigarette.
“I’ll do anything. You should understand, I don’t want to live in poverty anymore.” Nan Lan turned her head and sighed, “Now we have no choice but to live like this.” The apocalypse has destroyed everyone’s peaceful lives.
Do you have many brothers?
“They’re all dead, except for A-Tu.” Nan Lan’s interest waned at the mention of the apocalypse. She saw A-Xuan, who seemed to have finished his work, rush back to Shen Wangshu’s side, pull her into his arms, and chuckle.
“There are still plenty of supplies at home, and I also have a space.” Shen Wangshu paused, and seeing that Nan Lan was taken aback and then lost interest, a faint smile appeared on his face.
She remembered the lifetime when Ning Rou and Nan Lan were both alive. Nan Lan also knew about Ning Rou's space, but she never coveted it. She simply protected Ning Rou more diligently, preventing her from being harmed by malicious people. She counted on her fingers what was in her space before smiling and saying, "I should thank Song Xi for all of this; it's all thanks to her kindness towards me."
"What do you mean?" Nan Lan frowned when Song Xi was mentioned.
Shen Wangshu casually recounted how Song Xi had plotted against him.
"I always thought she was no good, and I didn't expect she really was." Upon hearing that Shen Wangshu had been framed, Nan Lan's face showed deep disgust.
Shen Wangshu did not mention the matter of Song Xi's failure to help Ning's father and mother in their time of need, but based on the previous incident alone, Nan Lan was already deeply disgusted by it.
The Ning family had been kind to them, and they repaid kindness with enmity; they are unworthy of being human.
"Where is she?" she asked, raising her chin.
"I don't know," Shen Wangshu said honestly.
"I'll take care of her matter later. Whether she's dead or alive, there needs to be an explanation." Nan Lan paused for a moment, then lowered her voice to Shen Wangshu and said, "Don't tell anyone about your spatial ability. Keep the supplies safe. We'll collect what we need ourselves in the city. It'll be good training for you." Seeing Shen Wangshu looking at her with surprise, she pursed her lips, her gaze falling on the villa as she softly said, "A-Tu is a brother who has risked his life with me, but what about that A-Guang…"
"Isn't he your brother?"
"I picked him up on the street. This kid's got some skills, but he's also very cunning," Nan Lan said calmly. "If it weren't for the fact that he's a light-elemental ability user, I wouldn't have wasted resources on him at all!"
"Light system?" Shen Wangshu was taken aback.
"It's quite effective at treating wounds; it's practically a mobile medicine storehouse. And its combat power is pretty good too. Zombies seem to melt as soon as they come into contact with its light. I think if it weren't for its low level of superpower, this kid could live a very comfortable life on his own."
Nan Lan waved her hand and said nothing more, clearly having seen Ah Guang come out of the villa with a beaming smile. Shen Wangshu looked at Ah Guang with a strange gaze. This handsome young man looked no more than seventeen or eighteen years old, with fair and delicate features, always wearing a smile, and a square scarf neatly pinned to his collar.
This description reminded her of someone.
The legendary top-tier light-elemental ability user, the so-called Lightbringer, was a young boy who, despite his frail appearance, was a top-tier powerhouse among ability users.
She remembered that in the book, Song Xi was the first to find this person and went to great lengths to become his companion.
"You didn't rescue him from the roof of a car on the side of the road, did you?" Shen Wangshu recalled Song Xi's initial encounter with the Lightbringer and said with a twitching smile, "Was he starving? Did he scream for help when he saw you?"
Once a superhuman's powers are exhausted, they become almost like an ordinary person. Song Xi remembered the origins of the Lightbringer and, after her rebirth, went straight to where the Lightbringer was. She successfully found him, rescued him from the roof of the car, gave him plenty of food, and the two became close companions.
Nan Lan thought for a moment and nodded in agreement.
Ah Guang was indeed rescued from the roof of the car by her.
Shen Wangshu couldn't help but reveal a mocking smile.
If Song Xi were still alive, what kind of expression would she have when she went through all the trouble to find the Lightbringer, only to find no one there?
She found it amusing and actually laughed. Ah Xuan, who was on top of her, became displeased when he saw her laughing and looking at Nan Lan.
He gently tapped Shen Wangshu's hair with his sharp teeth, letting out a disgruntled growl. This domineering possessiveness was almost painful for Nan Lan to watch. Although she was relieved that Ah Xuan wouldn't bite Shen Wangshu, she was still wary of this zombie. When Ah Xuan revealed his teeth, Shen Wangshu, while laughing and joking with Ah Xuan, keenly noticed a flash of fire between Nan Lan's fingers.
She smiled reassuringly at Nan Lan.
Ah Xuan is still sensible and would never bite his own skin with his teeth.
At most, it's just biting a hair.
"Don't expose your private space. Whatever happens next, follow my instructions." Nan Lan snorted, walking warily beside Shen Wangshu, avoiding looking at A Xuan's face. She whispered instructions to Shen Wangshu as they walked, clearly wary of A Guang. However, A Guang didn't seem to care about Nan Lan's coldness. He always followed her closely, a shy smile on his face.
