"Thank you, boss." Ah Guang held the crystal core, his eyes even brighter than the crystal core itself.
Nan Lan shook her head, unconcerned, and continued driving.
Ah Guang was already happily absorbing the energy from the crystal core.
Shen Wangshu took his place by the car window, focusing intently on throwing water balloons out, while also worrying about Ah Xuan's direction. She heard a furious, enormous roar; even though it was far away, she was certain it was Ah Xuan's voice. The ground in the distance seemed to be shaking, accompanied by the roars of more zombies and explosions.
Her face turned pale instantly, and she almost leaned out of the car window to call out, "Ah Xuan!" She felt extremely regretful; she shouldn't have put Ah Xuan in such a dangerous situation just because he was a zombie.
“You underestimate him.” Nan Lan said calmly under Shen Wangshu’s tense gaze. “He’s no ordinary zombie.”
"What?"
"The strangest zombie I saw on my way here was your Ah Xuan." Nan Lan knocked another zombie away and said coldly, "He's the one who's going to protect you in the future. If he doesn't grow up now, how can he be your protector in the future?" She seemed to have accepted Ah Xuan's identity.
That's good, but Shen Wangshu shook his head.
“I don’t care whether he can be my protector or not, I just hope he will always be by my side.”
“If he becomes stronger, he can protect himself.” Nan Lan frowned and glanced at Shen Wangshu, saying helplessly, “You spoil him too much. In the end, he’s just…”
It's just a zombie that can be consumed at will. It feels no pain and has no fear of death. Her friend is taking this zombie far too seriously.
“He is my husband,” Shen Wangshu said earnestly.
“He’s no different from us,” Shen Wangshu said softly, pursing her lips.
Nan Lan sighed.
Unable to convince her friend, she had no choice but to agree with her. Since Ning Rou liked this zombie named A Xuan so much, she had no choice but to treat him as a true partner, rather than a useful tool that could be sacrificed for the living at any time.
She rubbed her eyes and saw Shen Wangshu staring longingly in the direction Ah Xuan had left. After a moment of silence, she turned the steering wheel and drove in Ah Xuan's direction. The instant she turned, Ah Guang seemed surprised, but after thinking for a moment, a smile appeared in his eyes.
Nan Lan faced a large number of zombies, unleashing several huge fireballs from her hands. She watched the zombies tumble in the sea of fire, her face expressionless.
She felt she must be going crazy.
But just as she was about to change her mind, she saw a tall figure rushing towards her from afar. The figure was covered in blood and looked extremely disheveled, with three huge, deep gashes on one arm, revealing the bone.
But he was very excited, so he rushed to the SUV and jumped onto the roof.
Nan Lan snorted coldly and turned around again, about to face the zombies from all directions, when she heard a huge roar coming from the roof of the car.
The zombies paused, then transformed into a torrent, swaying and staggering around the SUV as they headed elsewhere.
Nan Lan was dumbfounded and almost forgot how to drive.
A bloodied head drooped from the roof of the car, baring its teeth at her.
"Ah Xuan." Shen Wangshu smiled happily when she saw that he was alright.
The bloodied face shrank back when it saw Shen Wangshu and never appeared again.
Shen Wangshu was stunned for a moment, then had to cover her face.
"Are you that happy?" Nan Lan asked helplessly when she saw her smiling.
"Ah Xuan has changed." He wouldn't even appear in front of her because his face was covered in blood and he was no longer handsome. Shen Wangshu found her lover extremely adorable.
She glanced out the car window and saw Ah Xuan peeking down, his eyes meeting Shen Wangshu's clear, gentle gaze. He froze for a moment, then quickly withdrew. He seemed to find the view from the rooftop appealing, letting out roars that sent the zombies flying away from the SUV. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Nan Lan swerved the wheel, driving the car out of the zombie encirclement.
The SUV sped along, bumping and jolting its way back to the villa area on the outskirts of Beijing.
There weren't many zombies in the villa area. Shen Wangshu also saw that the outer gate of the villa area was completely blocked by a high mound of earth.
This also seems to be the reason why zombies haven't flooded into the villa area.
The SUV stopped, and after a short while, A-Tu's shout could be heard.
The tall, bald man looked down excitedly from the mound of earth. When he saw Shen Wangshu and the others, he made a few grunting noises, and the mound of earth slowly split apart in the middle.
After the SUV drove in, the mound of earth closed up again, keeping the zombies out.
"I've cleared out the villa area, and there are still a few survivors." Although Atu looks like a ferocious big man, he is still very enthusiastic, otherwise he wouldn't have cleared out the zombies in the villa area all by himself.
However, this kind-hearted big man was now somewhat disappointed as he spoke to the group of people who had gotten out of their cars and were silently carrying supplies after entering the Ning family villa, saying, "It's really a case of good deeds going unrewarded! I saved them, and they don't even know how to be grateful, they're even afraid of me!" He noticed that there were still survivors in several villas, so he warmly invited everyone to come out and chat, but to his surprise, all he received were tightly closed doors.
Atu felt deeply hurt.
Shen Wangshu was coaxing Ah Xuan down from the roof of the car. Hearing this, he twitched his lips and looked at Ah Tu's face, which was even more ferocious because of his sadness.
She felt that it wouldn't hurt to be cautious when facing such a violent and seemingly malicious face.
