Not far away, swarms of zombies were moving toward the supermarket.
Shen Wangshu had no doubt that if they were surrounded by so many zombies, they would likely be trapped and unable to escape.
"I'm afraid the city has truly fallen," Nan Lan said gravely.
The city was too densely populated, and the outbreak of the zombie virus turned people who didn't have time to react into zombies, turning the entire city into a dead city.
Upon seeing these zombies, Shen Wangshu's gaze dimmed slightly.
They were once living people, they once had lives, but now they've become zombies, and she can't feel happy.
She touched Ah Xuan's face.
Hasn't her lover become like this too?
"Don't think too much. We are already lucky to be alive. All we can do is protect more people and prevent them from dying." Those who have passed away cannot be brought back, but Shen Wangshu will not be discouraged.
She was willing to do everything in her power to protect the survivors and bring them hope. This was probably also the thought of the original Ning Rou; she had space and more resources, so she wanted to help more people who were alive. Perhaps some of these people were indeed annoying and repulsive, but these few annoying people did not represent the whole group.
The end times brought about change, but they did not lead to the corruption of people's hearts.
Nan Lan glanced tenderly at Shen Wangshu in the rearview mirror.
This is the Ning Rou she knows. Although her personality has changed somewhat, her heart remains the same.
She took a moment to reach out from the front seat and patted Shen Wangshu's head.
Ah Xuan was about to give Nan Lan a bite.
"I will protect you." Nan Lan quickly withdrew her hand and said expressionlessly.
"Misunderstanding, misunderstanding." Shen Wangshu had lost count of how many times she had said this today.
Ah Guang sat next to Nan Lan, cupping his face in his hands and looking at her with bright eyes. When he saw her looking over, he quickly picked up the red trench coat in his arms.
"He picked this out especially for you, and he almost got into a fight with Ah Xuan." Shen Wangshu saw Nan Lan nod to Ah Guang, and the handsome young man seemed to be happy all day long. She blinked, silently calculated the age difference between the two, and then coughed.
She saw Ah Xuan huddled up in the car, looking aggrieved. He was already tall and slender with long, powerful legs, but after becoming a zombie, even with his agility, his body was still severely stiff. He was sitting very uncomfortable in the car, his gray eyes filled with repression.
"Go out and collect some crystal cores for me," she said, pointing to the zombies in the city after a moment's thought.
The zombies were too dense. Although they had managed to clear a path when they arrived, the path was quickly filled with zombies again.
Nan Lan relentlessly drove the SUV, smashing countless zombies until the entire vehicle was covered in blood.
The sound of a huge zombie being hit echoed loudly. Shen Wangshu sighed, and a water ball appeared in his hand. He threw it out of the car window and in front of the car.
The water balloon washed away some of the bloodstains on the car window in front of Nan Lan and opened up her field of vision.
Seemingly understanding Shen Wangshu's meaning, Nan Lan paused slightly, and Shen Wangshu took this opportunity to quickly open the car door.
Ah Xuan pulled the sausage off his neck and dashed out nimbly.
He was a zombie, so even though he was surrounded by mountains and seas of corpses, he was not in any danger.
The zombies showed no interest in Ah Xuan. Even more strangely, they seemed to fear him, keeping their distance, with a few even staggering behind him. Ah Xuan stood amidst the zombie horde, watching the SUV speed away. He sniffed, noticing a rather large cloth bag that Shen Wangshu had tied to his hand. He recognized the bag; it was the one Shen Wangshu had held in her arms earlier.
It is specifically designed to hold crystal nuclei.
He touched his clothes again.
This was chosen for him by Shen Wangshu.
The zombie became happy and let out a sharp sound. The sound was like a sound wave, and the zombies were stunned for a moment. Some stayed in place and walked around Ah Xuan.
Others ignored this and persisted in trying to catch up with the off-road vehicle.
This clearly enraged Ah Xuan. He let out a low growl, and his pinpoint pupils contracted again. He leaped into the air and smashed the head of a zombie that dared not obey him with a single slap, pulling out a crystal core. He looked at the crystal core with covetous eyes, then stuffed it into his small cloth bag.
There were clearly still some in the cloth bag, but he ignored them all. He smashed the unruly zombies one by one, then turned his head and saw an even more terrifying aura rapidly approaching from afar.
In the blink of an eye, three figures of different heights appeared in front of him.
When Ah Xuan saw this creature whose aura was different from that of ordinary zombies, a glint of hunger and excitement flashed in his gray eyes.
Shen Wangshu noticed that the number of zombies following her SUV was decreasing. Although there were still dozens, they no longer inspired despair. Watching A-Guang unleash a vast expanse of bright light, purifying the zombies, she had to admit that light-based ability users truly lived up to their legendary status as top-tier ability users.
However, Ah Guang was clearly not the powerful figure who would later vanquish enemy ships with a mere flick of his wrist. His superpowers were being used up too quickly, and in no time he was drenched in sweat, clutching his chest so tightly he could barely breathe.
This was the consequence of overusing his superpowers. Shen Wangshu subconsciously touched the crystal core in his arms.
"Don't die." Nan Lan casually took two crystal cores out of her pocket and tossed them to the handsome young man, saying disdainfully, "Stupid."
