Ah Xuan's fierce gaze made the man pause for a moment, and then he keenly followed the gaze to look in the direction of Shen Wangshu.
A barely perceptible look of doubt crossed his face, and he glanced at Shen Wangshu and his family with a hint of wariness.
Whether it was the strange-looking man or the group of men and women in front of them who, despite their travel-worn appearance, seemed to be in good spirits and had not suffered in the apocalypse, they all looked very strange.
His expression was calm, and whether out of politeness or vigilance, he remained standing still.
Nan Lan looked in the direction of Shen Wangshu.
Shen Wangshu didn't have time to pay attention to a strange man at this moment; she was coaxing Ah Xuan to put on a large pair of sunglasses.
The zombie seemed quite uncomfortable wearing sunglasses, and he tugged at Shen Wangshu's clothes in protest, not allowing her gaze to fall on anyone else. Shen Wangshu found his coquettishness utterly adorable, and she couldn't resist tiptoeing to kiss Ah Xuan on the corner of his mouth. Seeing him lean on her shoulder as if comforted, and no longer throwing a tantrum to take off his sunglasses, she turned to Nan Lan and smiled slightly.
Seeing the male zombie made her forget everything else; Nan Lan realized she could no longer rely on Shen Wangshu.
Her face twitched slightly, she put the cigarette she was holding into her pocket, and stepped forward to give the man a slight nod.
Although the man looked somewhat disheveled, he was composed and strong, with a calm demeanor, making him seem like someone not to be trifled with. Moreover, the things he carried were very simple, and the place was very close to the Rising Sun Base, so Nan Lan guessed that this man probably came from that base.
She was very interested in the base and even more curious about its inner workings, which made her value this man somewhat. Having been in the underworld for a long time, she naturally knew how to communicate. Although her expression was cold, it didn't take long before she had struck up a conversation with the man.
Ah Guang, with his delicate face, followed closely beside Nan Lan, glaring at the exceptionally strong and handsome man with deep resentment.
He looked down at his own forearm, then at the handsome, mature man opposite him, and silently gritted his teeth.
"Damn it!" He secretly tugged at the weeds on the ground, deciding in his heart to place the number one enemy on the man in front of him.
Ah Xuan, wearing sunglasses, was looking this way while pressing down on Shen Wangshu's shoulder. When he saw Ah Guang's indignant expression, he couldn't tell what grudge he held against him, so he immediately started to laugh.
He was handsome and pale, with a broad back and a narrow waist, possessing an undeniable appearance. His coldness was accentuated by high-end sunglasses, yet his every move resembled that of a mischievous child. He let out a low growl and tugged at Shen Wangshu's arm, urging her to look at A-Guang's miserable face—he seemed eager to stir up trouble. The man talking to Nan Lan glanced at him, his gaze immediately filled with suspicion and wariness.
His suspicious gaze lingered on Ah Xuan's somewhat stiff hands and feet.
Nan Lan calmly pressed down on the dagger at her waist.
"And this gentleman is..." the man suddenly asked.
“Her husband,” Nan Lan said slowly.
She gave Ah Guang a wink, and the boy's eyes lit up immediately. Together with Ah Tu, who was smiling and rubbing his bald head, they blocked the man's escape route.
Ah Guang excitedly licked his lips.
Mature, steady, handsome, and perfect adult men... are all heretics!
The Ones of Light have decided to purify these heretics!
"Brother Song, do you think there's anything wrong?" The man had just introduced himself as Song Lei. Nan Lan didn't care whether the name was real or not, and said casually, "Those two always like to show off their affection. If Brother Song can't stand it, why don't we talk about the base?"
She wouldn't choose to kill unless absolutely necessary. However, if Ah Xuan were truly exposed, as a choice, she would have to apologize to the careless Song Lei. She knew Ah Xuan's actions were somewhat strange, so she paused for a moment, trying to force a sincere expression onto her cold face.
“He’s damaged this before, you know.” She pointed to her head.
Song Lei squinted and looked at Ah Xuan seriously.
He's been fighting zombies on the front lines since the apocalypse began, and he's very experienced. That's why this strangely behaving man who's been yelling in a low voice looks especially like...
"Shu! Shu!" Seeing that Shen Wangshu's expression was somewhat solemn, A Xuan hurriedly rubbed against Shen Wangshu's fair face.
He knew that the man opposite him, who had a face he had seen before and who might steal his Shu Shu's, was named Shen Wangshu. He was in a bad mood and immediately lunged at the man with a murderous look.
He looked incredibly ferocious, but Song Lei's gaze immediately softened. He withdrew his eyes from Shen Wangshu and A Xuan, and politely said, "This is truly unfortunate." He was familiar with everything about zombies, and of course knew that zombies couldn't speak. Since this strange-looking man could speak, all those differences probably meant...
He damaged his brain.
Nan Lan gave a forced smile.
She stroked the brooch at her waist and said with a smile, "In this world, as long as we can be together, we're lucky no matter what happens."
Her words seemed to come from a heartfelt moment, or perhaps they were meant to imply something, which made Shen Wangshu look at her gratefully.
Shen Wangshu knew that her best friend had approved of her relationship with A Xuan and had also given her opinion on it.
That's right... As long as we can be together, what does it matter what Ah Xuan becomes?
She turned to the side and gently touched Ah Xuan's cold, hard profile, a soft smile appearing on her face.
Ah Xuan stared blankly at her, a strange image flashing through his mind again. This time, however, the man in the image was himself. His face was cold and indifferent, yet he couldn't tear his gaze from Shen Wangshu. He let her rush into his arms, tears streaming down her face. He should have pushed her away, but he couldn't bear to. He looked at his reflection in the image, struggling, but in the end, he bent down and held her in his arms.
