Chapter 173 The Mystery of Immortality (Part 4)



She was furious. Why were these things so captivating, that they neglected even their own daughter? Then she found a hand-drawn sketch with simple lines, one dot circled in red with a question mark next to it.

She had someone check the date the paper was drawn, and it was exactly one or two days after she fell into a coma. Her heart was filled with irony; a living, breathing life was worth less than an archaeological discovery. Perhaps, to them, she shouldn't have been born.

She thought that perhaps if she died, she wouldn't be a bother to them anymore. From that day on, she stopped eating and lay in bed waiting for death to come. But the nanny wouldn't let her degrade herself. Even if things weren't simple, she was still the child she had watched grow up, and how could she just stand by and watch her sink into despair?

"Your parents love you very much."

She remained unmoved by the nanny's words. Enraged, the nanny grabbed her and pulled her up, demanding sharply, "Do you know why you're still alive? It's because of your parents. They risked their lives to give you life, and this is how you repay them?"

Her eyes lit up, and she turned her head blankly, asking, "What did you say?"

The nanny pursed her lips, sighed, and sat down next to her, as if reminiscing or muttering to herself.

“I came here alone, with no relatives or friends. Your parents found me and asked me to help take care of their child. I thought it was just ordinary caregiving, but I didn’t expect the child to be so thin and weak. He was one year old and weighed less than ten pounds.”

In our rural area, we could only leave it to fate, and if things didn't work out, we could just have another child. But it's different for them. They said they would save you no matter what; you are their precious child.

With modern medicine so advanced, there must be a way. But after so much treatment, there was no improvement. I thought they were going to give up, but your mother was very stubborn. She said that as long as you were alive, she would definitely find a way to save you.
