As they were talking, the waiter brought over the food one after another. Xiang Wan didn't have time to talk anymore. She put some food on Xiang Xia and Qin Rong's plates, chuckled, and then started shoveling food into her own bowl. She ate as she ate, her cheeks stuffed full, her eyes glancing at the food every now and then. Wherever her gaze fell, her chopsticks followed, like a little mouse searching for food. Xiang Xia couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time.
"Eat slowly, no one will take it from you."
"Delicious, delicious." Xiang Wan's mouth was full of food, and her speech was a little slurred.
Seeing Xiang Wan's eating speed, which lacked any of the demeanor of a young lady, a flash of mockery crossed Qin Rong's eyes, before she calmed down and continued eating at a leisurely pace. While Xiang Xia was watching Xiang Wan's meal, Qin Rong gave Xiao Lan at the next table a wink. Xiao Lan put down her chopsticks and got up to go downstairs.
Xiao Zhu kept an eye on her young mistress's movements and didn't notice Qin Rong. Seeing Xiao Lan about to leave, she asked, "Where are you going?"
"Just a quick reply." Xiaolan answered.
Xiao Zhu didn't take it to heart. After quickly finishing their meals, she and Xiao Mei came over to serve their young mistress.
Xiang Wan wolfed down her food, and the table was quickly emptied. Xiang Xia was a little embarrassed and annoyed, not expecting her younger sister to be so careless about her image when going out. After Xiang Wan put down her chopsticks, she couldn't help but give her a soft scolding.
"It's just one meal. If I weren't so hungry, I'd be a very proper and virtuous sister." Xiang Wan patted her belly and let out a satisfied burp, which earned her another scolding from Xiang Xia.
Qin Rong called the waiter over to clean up the leftovers and had a pot of tea brewed. The group sat at the table, slowly savoring the tea, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Out of the corner of her eye, Xiang Wan saw the man who had looked at her earlier get up and go downstairs. His attendant called the waiter to pay the bill and then also went downstairs.
"Did you see that person just now?" Xiang Wan asked. "What a handsome young man."
The man who had just stepped out downstairs heard this, a smirk playing on his lips. He glanced at the window upstairs, then turned and strode away.
"Can't you be a little more mature? How old are you, discussing men's appearances? Aren't you ashamed?" Xiang Xia tapped Xiang Wan's forehead.
"Hehe, Sister Wan'er is straightforward and truly lively and adorable," Qin Rong said with a smile, the teasing in her eyes vanishing in an instant.
Hearing this, Xiang Wan felt a little uncomfortable. Such praise was, to put it bluntly, an accusation that she was outspoken, naive, and easily fooled. She couldn't help but reply, "Sister Rong'er is so generous and kind. We sisters thank you for your generosity."
Qin Rong was a little annoyed that Xiang Wan would praise her first and then make her pay for the meal. Although the meal wasn't expensive, it was very different to pay willingly than to be forced to pay. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she was about to get angry when Xiao Lan walked towards her and winked. She pretended to pick up her teacup and take a sip, suppressing her dissatisfaction, and said to Xiang Wan and Xiang Xia, "Since you brought your two older sisters out, it's naturally my treat. Why don't I have Xiao Lan go downstairs to pay the bill, and also take Xiao Zhu and Xiao Mei to buy some pastries? Let's sit here for a while and rest."
Xiang Xia initially felt a little embarrassed that her sister was letting Qin Rong pay the bill, but upon hearing Qin Rong's suggestion, she readily agreed. She instructed Xiao Mei to put the pastry bag away and then let the three of them go downstairs.
The three sat around the table sipping tea, thinking that Xiao Lan and the other two would be back soon. However, half an hour passed and they still hadn't returned, so Xiang Wan started to get restless.
