She ran to the lakeside in the forbidden area, waiting for Qu Chiyang to come and explain things to her.
She waited from dawn till dusk, but still didn't see Qu Chiyang. Xiang Wan thought, perhaps Qu Chiyang was waiting for her to ask.

The next morning, Xiang Wan stayed in bed, wanting to ask Qu Chiyang a lot of questions, but she couldn't bring herself to go to him. She was still angry with him; such a big thing, and he hadn't even discussed it with her. This time, she was determined to get Qu Chiyang to explain himself clearly, to clarify why he hadn't told her beforehand.
As she was still thinking about this, she heard music and celebration outside, the sounds growing closer. What should she do? She hadn't changed her clothes or washed up yet; how was she going to face anyone?
Xiang Wan quickly got up, washed up, and sat on the edge of the bed to wait.
A quarter of an hour passed, and there was still no sound outside. An hour passed, and still no one came. What was going on? Did they expect her to go out on her own?

Xiang Wan opened the door and went outside, only to find the yard deserted. She was puzzled. Did Qu Chiyang want to play hide-and-seek with her? Hmph, how childish!
She planned to go directly to Qu Chiyang's bedroom to wait, not wanting to play those tiring games.

The higher they went, the more people they encountered. Among the crowd, Xiang Wan even spotted members of the Zhuang family, all wearing joyful expressions. What was going on? Had the Zhuang family and the Chiyang Sect reconciled?
Upon seeing him, the followers dared not look her in the eye, while the Zhuang family members wore expressions of disdain. Xiang Wan pretended not to notice, but as she was about to step into Qu Chiyang's bedchamber, a sudden panic gripped her. The sounds of chanting rites from within reached her ears, indicating that someone was already beside Qu Chiyang—but that person was not her!
